with the collaboration of #EUgreenweek
THE INITIATIVE The Green Impact Week is a global platform promoting sustainable development. We believe in the importance of breaking down silos to help people collaborate across boundaries. We want to foster collaboration with the goal of bringing all stakeholders together, in the impact and sustainability sectors, strengthen the sustainable ecosystem, not only in Denmark but also in Europe and globally. We are a platform for sustainability actors to come together, discuss the issues, address changes, present their solutions and draw a strategy towards developing a globally sustainable economy. We will continue reaching these objectives in the years to come.

Green Impact Week officially started with a Opening Ceremony at Dansk Industri, including a distinguishable line-up of speakers! The event started out with a passionate opening by Thomas Bustrup - the Director of The Confederation of Danish Industry, followed by an introduction from Stina Soewarta - the Head of Representation of the European Commission, along with the three CEOs of the Green Impact Alliance - Human Shojaee, Anne Katrine Larsen and Rasmus Tscherning. Followed up there were individual speeches discussing the current situation of Europe and the battle towards building a sustainable initiative, from the Danish Ministry of Environment, European Parliament, European Commission, German Embassy of Copenhagen, and Vaestkfonden. The event closed with a very interesting panel discussion and Q&A with the topic of “Is it fair to call Denmark a green nation?, where the representatives of 6 different industries discuss the current state of the country, along with how their companies are working towards transforming Denmark into a truly sustainable and green nation.
TUESDAY 20 th 15
Tuesday started with Pitch Green- one of Sustainary’s flagship events. Over 30 companies and organizations from 14 different industries came together and pitched themselves towards multiple investors’ funds.

The European Parliament is the legislative branch of the European Union. As the elected body of the European Union, it represents people’s interests and it is an essential forum for political debate and decisionmaking. As such, it is the representative of the European citizens and forms the democratic basis of the EU. The Parliament is made of 751 members (MEPs), representative of the European Union member states - from these, 14 seats are reserved for Danish representatives, directly elected every 5 years. The next elections to the European Parliament will be held in 2024.
The European Commission is the executive branch of the European Union, the one that proposes legislation, implements decisions and takes care of the day-today of the EU. The representation in Denmark is located in Copenhagen and is charged with the main tasks of explaining what the EU policies mean to the people in Denmark and being the European Commission’s spokes organization in the country. With sustainability and the green transition becoming a top priority in the European Union’s agenda, projects like the European Green Deal and the EU Green Week are shaping the road to sustainability for the years ahead.
Wednesday was the beginning of the Green Impact Summit - three days where we gathered 20 events with more than 50 speakers from various industries coming together to discuss different matters of the green transition. The event started with a discussion about “Nordic Green Start-Up”, where the directors of 4 different companies within the Nordic came in and talked about what is on the horizon for the nordic green start-up ecosystem. For “Urban Future” we invited Annette Steenberg (Copenhagen Capacity), Scott Allison (CLEAN) and Christian Jølk (NREP) to talk about how to continue developing resilient cities, focused on cross collaboration between public and private entities.

SDG Tech Awards
Creative Business Cup
This day was all about the celebration of sustainable organizations around the world. We kicked off with another event organised by Sustainary - SDG Tech Awards. The ultimate celebration of sustainable initiatives in Denmark. The ceremony was moderated by Nick Hawtin (Thinklegaltech) and Natasha Saxberg (IT-Branchen) and there were 15 initiatives awarded for their work within sustainability. With “Industry Leaders in Sustainability” we invited leaders of sustainability on stage to tell their stories, while the CBS Climate Club handed out the Next Gen Prize, voted by students to award business professionals driving sustainable change. After this we welcomed the Creative Business Cup - a unique competition for the creative and cultural industries hosted by Creative Business Network. In this edition, 25 different companies came in and pitched their sustainable ideas in hopes of winning the Danish cup. This year’s winner was Travelli, an app that helps to create a safe and fun universe for female travellers.

Friday was packed with different panel discussions and talks. There were 22 speakers for 11 different events. One of the most relevant discussions was the “Sustainable Directors”. During this talk the sustainable leaders of 4 different companies Cololast (Nassera Ahmed), FLSmidth (Wouter de Groot), Better Energy (Medine Duvarci) and GN Store Nord (Maurits Roeland Hekking) came in to give us an insight on their view towards sustainability and how it is applied within their own companies. Erican-Alan Rapp (Partner of Foodtech, Vækstfonden) brought us the CEO’s of EAT GRIM (Petra Kaukua), Commoditrader (Simon Haldrup), Neutral.com APS (Lars Bech) and Hampus Jakobsson (General Partner at Pale Blue Dot) to talk about “What is Green and why should I care?”. After it we got some insights from Dansk Industri on “How to Future proof your business with sustainability and the SDGs?” - where Line Poulsen talked about how companies can be committed towards sustainability and what they should be prepared for. We wrapped up Friday with a feeling of accomplishment and the confidence. We have created a platform to foster the Danish green ecosystem and connect all those that want to collaborate for the green transition!

THE OUTCOMES Due to Covid-19 restrictions there have been many challenges for stakeholders to meet, share knowledge, and make their results visible - an essential part of a successful green transition. However, the Green Impact Week was a success and it showed that there is a great need for stakeholders to showcase their efforts, goals, and results. We were able to bring together actors from different industries, engaging more than 400 companies, organizations, networks, research and start-ups, together to establish the largest ecosystem in Denmark within Sustainability. We look forward to continue engaging with all the actors in sustainability, impact and creativity, in the years to come!
