EXPLORING NORWAY BY CAR
For those who are unable to explore Europe by foot, there are plenty of breathtaking road trips and routes that showcase some of the continent’s best vistas and landscapes. Norway is one of the best places in the world for adventurous self-driving trips and in fact, its landscape is perhaps best appreciated by car.
Wild Camping Norway has varied terrain, with mountains, quiet coastal roads, remote villages and stunning fjords. During the summer the days are long, and the weather is pleasant enough for wild camping, so pack a tent and pitch up wherever you fancy. Wild camping is legal throughout Norway. However, for those who prefer a few home comforts, Norway also has a great many cabins and campsites.

Taking a Road Trip One of the best routes through Norway begins in Bergen and concludes in Trondheim; the route includes a long stretch driving along the Atlantic Road, which offers visitors the chance to spot whales and seals, as well as taking one – or all – of the eight bridges that link to coastal islands. The drive is around 430 miles in total, and it includes a drive through the world’s longest road tunnel as well as Trollstigen’s zig-zag bends.
