LAKE GEORGE ZONE REPORT FOR ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS | 2016

The 2015-16 fire season was locally quieter than expected.

Lake George sent deployments to fires in the • ACT, • Victoria, and • Tasmania, Infrastructure • Two new vehicles ordered (1 PC 1 Bus) to replace vehicles written of at FCC during hail storm • Station roller door program • Upgrade to FCC stores to meet WH&S requirements • Captains Flat Station tendering process in motion and planning commencing for Majors Creek Station Training continued throughout the year and several trainers facilitated or contributed to State based training. Two Community Protection Plans (Mongarlowe and Majors Creek) for Lake George Zone Planning also underway for HR burns across the zone. We have assisted NP burns. Grassland Fire Behaviour Trial burns were successfully conducted at Mayfield Rd with some valuable data collected. CAD introduction by the 1st July 2016. Thank you to all members, their families and employers for your efforts and support to the Zone and our community over the last year.

CAPTAINS REPORT Once again we saw a relatively quiet fire session. The callout data on MYRFS shows the brigade as having attended 63 indents since the last AGM, which is an increase of 12 incidents for the same period the previous year. The data below been extracted from MYRFS and shows a breakdown of the number and type of incidents attended since the last AGM.

MEMBERSHIP The brigade continues to see a steady flow of new members throughout the year. We have seen a couple of senior members over the last year take a step back from brigade activities. The brigade is also beginning to see some members are starting to take on more responsibility within the brigade at a senior level. This is vitally important to the continued success of the brigade.

TRAINING: We continue to see a high participation rate in both local and zone level training by brigade members both as participants and trainers. Our members have undertaken a variety of courses including but not limited to BF, VF, AF, CL and varied qualification recertifications. At present we still have a shortage of suitably qualified crew leaders and I encourage anyone who

ANNUAL REPORT 2016 | BUNGENDORE VOLUNTEER RURAL FIRE BRIGADE

2

may be interested in crew leading to continue to pursue these courses as the brigade needs to ensure there are sufficient qualified personnel to fulfil these roles I would like to reinforce that the AF - VF training level is what is needed in this brigade and encourage those at BF to aspire to this level of proficiency. ORGANISATIONAL THANKS As with any organisation there is a lot of behind the scenes work undertaken that may not be seen by some members and this work is often complex and time consuming which is greatly appreciated. TO THE FIRE FIGHTER FAMILIES: A very important part of the brigade is the support members receive from their families, they are woken up in the early hours of the morning by pagers and phones ringing, have their meals disrupted due to callouts, put up with not seeing partners and spouses for days on end during protracted incidents. We would like to thank families for the tolerance and support during the year as we could not do what we do without them. COMMITTEE: I would like to thank the outgoing committee for the work and dedication during the last 12 months and wish the incoming committee all the best. TO THE MEMBERS The brigade would not be what it is today without the members. The effort everyone puts throughout the year is appreciated. Well done to everyone and thanks.

PRESIDENTS REPORT

Thank you for coming and forming a quorum. Thank you to the Committee and others for their efforts and time put in during the year. As there has only been one nominee per position we will not be holding an election for the Administrative and Field Officer positions. We will be voting in our eligible probationers and also appointing an Auditor for next year.

For those of you who are not aware, we will be dealing with a new Constitution coming up during this year, but until that comes in, if it comes in and when it comes in, we will be operating under the old one.

TREASURERS REPORT

The 2015/2016 year has seen the brigade continue our strong financial position. We had an operational profit of $1364 as at 31 March 2016. Several members completed training in heavy vehicle driving during the year and we maintained strong contributions through fundraising events such as Canberra Outlet Centre and the Country Muster.

The final closing balance as at the end of Financial Year 2015-2016 is $32,507. Details are included in the financial statements with my written report.
