CREATIVE WORK

EGO SUM

An Pasyon ni Kristo 2015 Production Book

History upon history An Pasyon ni Kristo in Calabanga has existed for more than two decades and was passed on to generations of local performers, artists and avid spectators. This street play production changes the lives of actors and audience in ways unheard and unprecedented. Up until 2015, these impactful changes remain an oral narrative void of voice and threatened to languish as vanishing memories of the past. Ego sum changes this and made history upon history. The power of creative storytelling imbued in this book significantly put in place a devotional aid, recognition of key players, sharing of strategies and practice and historical account of what was then 22-year-old tradition and intangible cultural heritage in Calabanga.

EGO SUM is piece of evangelization, love manifesting and of living gratitude. This is an epiphany of enormous blessings that we in APK production are thankful for. This is a testament of our enduring faith and devotion to Christ’s passion, death and resurrection hence this production book is our way of giving back. We are thankful that we are able to hurdle our 22nd year of production. It goes without saying that the lifeblood of our street play swells in every gift and talent we commonly and generously share. For all these, we are extremely grateful. May this book be an inspiration to all, that with GOD, all things will be possible.

RELEVANCE & VALUE

ORIGINALITY

As a first of its kind, the production book of An Pasyon ni Kristo was conceptualized to narrate historical account of the two-decade street play. Ego sum (I am) is a statement made by Jesus Christ to reveal himself and this became our point of introduction to this historic passion play production. This book was copyrighted under registration number A2016-190 to protect its intellectual rights and to attest its originality and differentiate it from all other materials about the street play.

Tria Tirona, OCD, DD commends the excellence of the artists and organizers of this endeavor and gave his fatherly blessings to all those taking part in this noble project. Similarly, then Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Danilo V. We are doomed to commit mistakes over again once we fail to learn from history, says a sage. An Pasyon ni Kristo is a pioneer street play production in Bikol and its existence requires conscientious historical storytelling so that others who have similarly implemented a street play in their locality may benefit from the lessons learned and as to how the production is organized – these are salient parts of the production book, Ego Sum. Alongside recounting history, the book also creatively put APK photos and prayers to serve as devotional guide. Finally, this book values the passion and creativity of its entire cast and production staff as chapter two of Ego Sum is a recognition of these important individuals and groups. The material is a valuable teaching-learning tools for literature, theater and cultural studies and in the promotion of Calabanga’s intangible cultural heritage.
