WORLD’S OLDEST RODEO

June 28-July 4, Prescott Rodeo Grounds

The World’s Oldest Rodeo returns to the Prescott Rodeo Grounds this summer as part of Prescott Frontier Days. Happening since 1888, the annual rodeo showcase features events ranging from steer wrestling and bull riding to barrel racing and team roping over the course of its multiday run. The World’s Oldest Rodeo will also feature a series of specialty acts, live music performances and dancing, an outdoor arts and crafts show, and the running of the 135th annual Rodeo Parade. Flagstaff Art in the Park

July 2-4, Wheeler Park

This July, Downtown Flagstaff’s Wheeler Park will be brimming with photographs, paintings, and more for Flagstaff Art in the Park. The outdoor arts-centric event will showcase juried fine arts and crafts, spanning from ceramics and fiber works to sculpture and mixed media, by more than 70 artists from across Arizona and the greater Southwest region. In addition to the vast array of artwork on display and for purchase, the event will be complete with food vendors, a beer garden stocked with a riding, mutton busting for kids, carnival-style entertainment and games, and the Parade of Heroes, honoring Scottsdale’s outstanding community leaders. 5-8 p.m. Ticket prices vary. www.scottsdale4th. com.

July 4, WestWorld of Scottsdale

The 9th Annual Scottsdale 4th of July Celebration will take over WestWorld of Scottsdale this Independence Day. In addition to the dazzling sky show, boasting the largest fireworks display in the Valley, the Independence Day celebration will also feature events and performances such as bull Fallen Soldiers Memorial, Military Showcase, and American Arts & Culture Showcase, featuring crafts and displays from the Arizona Museum of Natural History and the Mesa Arts Center. Additional entertainment will include Revolutionary War reenactments from We Make History, live country-rock music from Mogollon Band featuring Danny Walls, plus an epic fireworks show to conclude the evening. 6 to 10 p.m. Free. www. azcelebrationoffreedom.org.

July 8, Boyce Thompson Arboretum

Founded in 1924, Superior’s scenic Boyce Thompson Arboretum is recognized as Arizona’s oldest and largest botanical garden. This month locals can experience the sights and sounds across the picturesque upland Sonoran Desert landscape at this recurring happy hour-style event held at the arboretum. Tickets to ARB After Hours include two complimentary drink tickets, access to select areas of the gardens, light bites catered by Bella’s Marketplace and Café.
