College Place, Front Street
Spotlight on College Place
Squeezed in between North Park Avenue and Quealy Place is a short but robust street known as College Place. As the center of the village government, Rockville Centre Village Hall has been the home of much activity and conversation. It also serves as a place for the village trustees and Mayor Francis Murray to highlight people making a difference in the community.
During Rockville Centre’s many parades, 1 College Place is where local dignitaries wave to the marchers. For the next few months, the building is under construction with a new HVAC system being installed. Village Hall has temporarily been moved to 34 Maple Ave., the old police headquarters.
Right around the corner from College Place is Front Street and the village’s Long Island Rail Road station. The street is known for its fine dining and delectable dessert from the popular Front Street Bakery, whose dot cookies and black and white cookies have become local favorites.
The LIRR station has seen improvements in recent years, including new escalators and a refurbished interior office for the many residents who commute to the city and look to get home after a long work day.
