Dear Neighbors,

As a life-long resident of Rockville Centre, I have seen our Village grow into a model for other communities. We have a lot to offer besides our first-rate Village services including our excellent schools, beautifully updated parks and ball fields, our booming Recreation Center, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, and Sandel Senior Center for youth and seniors, our walkable and thriving downtown business district, and overall quality of life that is second to none. I am proud to be your Mayor and remain committed to keeping our home the desirable community it is, while striving to make it better for future generations.

Rockville Centre is a highly coveted community in part because we are self-sustainable. Few communities in America enjoy their own reliable Electric and Water Department at a fraction of the cost. We have our own highly trained police force, dedicated Volunteer Fire Department and emergency personnel. Our Village employees are second to none, focusing their time on the needs and betterment of our community. Our bustling downtown business district features top-notch restaurants, services, and charming retail shops that make Rockville Centre truly unique. Residents and visitors alike enjoy activities in our business districts throughout the year.

My administration has worked diligently to bring about fiscal discipline to the operation of our Village while not impacting services. The Village of Rockville Centre recently received the highest possible bond rating from one of the top credit rating services. Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Global Ratings has affirmed Rockville Centre’s AAA rating for public improvement bonds. The exemplary rating means that the Village can secure a lower interest rate on bonds, reducing the cost to residents. We continue to be aggressive in going after major grants and gifts to benefit the Village and hold the line on taxes. During my tenure, we have secured over $40 million dollars in federal, state and local grants and gifts to make improvements in our Village.

We continue to improve our infrastructure throughout the Village. Our Police Department recently moved into their new headquarters at 142 Maple Avenue. We knew that while our Village continues to grow, our police headquarters needed to grow and advance with it. The new 10,000 square-foot state-of-the-art station is equipped with a new communications and dispatch center, designated training space, and secured booking area. The John A. Anderson Recreation Center is getting a facelift with exterior repairs and paint.

The Village is also set to break ground on Mr. B’s playground in this summer. This playground will provide children with all abilities the experience of play, while encouraging acceptance and promoting overall health and wellness. Upgrades to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center are well underway with the addition of a cultural center, library and dance room. Other upgrades include new air conditioning, roof, bathrooms, and landscaping. Roads are a critical component of our community’s transportation infrastructure. With 50 miles of roadway, we are committed to maintaining and improving our roadways for residents and visitors. I am very proud to say we have completed over 20 miles of roadway during my tenure.

I am proud of the work that we have accomplished that ensures Rockville Centre remains one of the most desirable communities to live, work, and raise a family on Long Island. As your Mayor and President of New York Conference of Mayors, I will continue to lobby in Albany and network and share best practices among the state’s villages for opportunities that benefit our beautiful Village.

Sincerely, Francis X. Murray Mayor Incorporated Village of Rockville Centre
