Where Technology Meets Empathy TruCare Provider Services

The thought of how technology can help someone with disabilities might seem too futuristic for some of us. We hear about it in the news or read about it in social media and other materials. Yet, what is it, and how does that work? How can it really help someone with a physical or developmental disability? Does one have to give up their support staff to get this technology? Can they work together? Who knows any of this information?

TruCare Provider Services does, and we are happy to answer whatever questions you want to ask.

Technology is developing rapidly and can include video cameras, iPads, medication dispensers, motion sensors, device applications, adaptive switches/ utensils, twoway talk or video devices, auto shut-off devices for electronics, mobility aids, adaptive keyboards, smart glasses, wheelchairs and walkers, braille displays and magnifiers, speech recognition systems, cognitive aids, physical modifications in the environment, and even a robot. These tools have been developed to increase one’s ability to live with more independence. TruCare prioritizes safety while expanding one’s abilities in their own home.

Our team of experts will meet with an individual to evaluate their current living environment. Our staff will assemble the team involved to speak to the individual and hear his/her goals for the technology and perform our unique individualized assessment. Once goals are determined, our tech advisor will find and select the technology needed to maximize outcomes. Installation and education on the use of technology completes the process and implementation in their home. The personal touch is never lost. The security net of having a service provider in the home can now be a combination of our professional remote monitoring staff who is available 24/7 to assist an individual when they have a question or need assistance in their daily activities. The empowerment that results is life changing. Our highly skilled Remote Support Professionals can provide the instruction and encouragement that is required to take it to the next level. Able to provide clear and concise instruction, our professionals work with individuals exercising empathy and patience, ensuring they accomplish the task at hand. Our staff is trained in trauma-informed care, giving them the ability to detect when something is triggering an emotional behavioral response. From beginning to end, the transition to technology is centered around the person.

Remote technology is NOT about installing electronic equipment that is ineffective and collects dust. It is about deploying additional tools that can help anyone live a fulfilling life and improve one’s ability to do more for oneself. Coaching and encouragement will reduce the fear of technology and help develop the skills necessary to live more independently.

The TruCare remote support team would like to meet with you and discuss how we can assist. A member of our team is available to discuss this opportunity, Monday-Friday, 8:00 – 4:00 PM, at (513) 201-5611.
