People say that working in architecture is a pain in the neck. It is, but now I can see architecture and design as an enjoyable thing and make it my passion. What I love about working in this industry is people experiencing the space we designed and yet perceive different things. Seeing the client impressed by our work is another type of dopamine spike and having a great senior / colleague to have discussion with would help me to grow faster. Being aware of what I have achieved help me a lot to even develop myself further and bigger.

MEKONG VIEW TOWER 5 typology size stage, status location company, supervisor role

// High-end residential tower // 24 storey; 30,124 sqm // Design proposal // Phnom Penh, Cambodia // E9AP Singapore, Jeff Imperial, Betsy Lau Chuk // Floor plan development, landscape & facility design, facade exploration, BIM model and detail drawings

Mekong View Tower V situated abreast the Mekong River, is a 24-storey residence favored with several vantage points to the river, cityscape, and the suburban expanse. The design is conceived from the inspiration of a metamorphic “tree superimposed onto each other creating an ingenious dynamic facade design. A central courtyard concept was implemented to allow maximum exposure to natural sunlight and ventilation. Landscape softens the inner environs of the building infusing a natural and pleasant setting for the residents.

Aim to represent the Geopark tourism, the siteplanning is driven by existing contour and axis of 5 major geopark destinations: Ijen Crater, Mt. Raung, Merah Island, Purwo National park, and Banyuwangi. Soft leveling between floors and boundless indoor outdoor spaces are created in order to bring the sense of exploration. Its landscape programs enhance the presence of existing river and retained existing productive trees.

// Good class bungalow // 2 storey, 1.140 sqm // built // Leedon Park, Bukit Timah, Singapore // E9AP Singapore, Nadia L Mustopo, Betsy Lau Chuk // Construction details, shopdrawing check, coordination, authority submission, supervision and meeting

The owner wanted a tranquil environment and a house that acts as an escape from hustle bustle of Singapore. The house programming was intended to cater the whole family needs, therefore entertainment room, prayer room, swimming pool, two types of dining area, roof terrace, and lift was provided. Concept of the house is simple, elegant, with rustic touch which integrating straightforward floor plan with various material such as metal, glass, marble, granites, and timber. Swimming pool as the main interaction area for the family was shaped as such looked like a paint palette as symbolization of the owner’s hobby: chinese painting.

CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESAN HUB typology size stage, status location company, supervisor role

// Mixed use development: retreat centre & archdiocese facility // 4 storey; 51,170 sqm // Proposal for tender // 49 Upper Thomson Road, Singapore // E9AP Singapore, Jeff Imperial, Nadia L Mustopo, Betsy Lau Chuk // Floor plan development, landscape design, facade exploration, 3D model, chapel design

The design approach for the Catholic Archdiocesan Hub is a humble and dignified interpretation of the brief and the site context. In optimising the existing site, the building functions and forms are articulated in synthesis with the land. The interplay of forms, land, and the mesh skin of the building simulates a “Cradle” protecting the people and creating an envelope which signifies God’s encompassing nature. The design also maximises natural light and ventilation as an approach towards sustainability.

34

GENERAL CONCEPT

Ventilations & Vistas

Green Corridors

CHAPEL

CHAPEL

Water is symbolic of Life. Mimicking the dynamic trait of water, nonlinear unimpeded vistas are generated along the green corridors. These sightlines are also translated into ventilation through the land between buildings, promoting breatheable cluster of spaces.

In the design of the landscape, a green spine meanders through the heart of the site, where the existing chapel sits as an extension of the lush nature reserves to the west. Density of vegetation is varied along the green spine to serve as a natural barrier for private areas.

Natural light and ventilation play a significant role in the design. In the day, light infiltrates into the spaces. At night, the building stands as a beacon, guiding one along the right path, “through the darkest valley. Courtyard spaces in the various buildings are oriented along the green spine and around the chapel, creating communal spaces for activities and personal reflection.

A WELCOMING CBD competition, achievement brief size stage, status location role team

// Sinarmasland Young Architect 2014 , 1st winner (masterplanning category) // CBD masterplan // 25,000 sqm // Conceptual // BSD, Indonesia // parcel division, masterplan base design, landscape design, final presentation // Dany Nugroho, Patriot Negri, Aszafaika Ladidinanda, Hastito Rahmadhika

The project is positioned to be the New Extension of the Sunburst CBD of BSD City. The project is considered special as this is the last commercial parcel of land in BSD Phase 1 or East BSD. This project is also envisioned to be the gateway to the West BSD and the future Grand CBD. There are 5 keys of design that required: integration, connectivity, walkability, public open space, and identity.

62

CONCEPT

MASTERPLAN CONCEPT

1

Creating “pocket shaped” as ending of the shape of previous existing CBD

2

Main entrance is on the north side (primary road). Creating perimeter road along the site boundary to provide access for future development, then connecting the rest

3

Creating ‘green necklace’ by connecting the exiting green areas through the site

4

Parcel’s shape follows the road boundary

5

Creating pedestrian path connection, then provides nodes (as the public open space) for pedestrian (user or visitor)

6

The building masses shape follows the parcel’s shape, the skyline reach its highest point at the center (iconic building)

SIRE MEDANA RESORT typology size stage, status location supervisor achievement

// 3 star hotel // 1-3 storey; 3,400sqm // Design concept, Final Project // North Lombok, Indonesia // Firmansyah I Murad // Most favorite final project of graduation exhibition (April 2014)

The site located at sire medana, North Lombok. Its remote location would give a serene ambience and calmness. The most interesting part of this site is the view of the sea and the abundant amount of coconut palm trees. Objective of this project is to create a design that promotes interaction between guests and the nature. As for the building expression itself, traditional architecture character is being adapted.

68

Site photos Dense coconut trees as the main consideration for the siteplanning. The distance between trees will become the space for architecture.

PART 3 : Competition Summary

PART 3

COMPETITION SUMMARY Competition is one way to push the idea and do that creative jump. During the process I could learn lot of things such as how to lead, how to follow order, gauge the effort to give, how to floor the idea to the team and re-evaluate for our personal growth. Through this, the intense exercises, and the achievements, I have developed myself and build my confidence a lot further.
