People say that working in architecture is a pain in the neck. It is, but now I can see architecture and design as an enjoyable thing and make it my passion. What I love about working in this industry is people will get the experience by stepping into the space and yet perceive different things. Seeing the client impressed by our work is another type of dopamine spike and having a great senior / colleague to have discussion with would help me to grow faster. Being aware of what I have achieved help me a lot to even develop myself further and bigger.

The project is positioned to be the New Extension of the Sunburst CBD of BSD City. The project is considered special as this is the last commercial parcel of land that is in BSD Phase 1 or East BSD. This project is also envisioned to be the gateway to the West BSD and the future Grand CBD. There are 5 keys of design that required: integration, connectivity, walkability, public open space, and identity

15

CONCEPT

16

1

Creating “pocket shaped” as ending of the shape of previous existing CBD

2

Main entrance is on the north side (primary road). Creating perimeter road along the site boundary to provide access for future development, then connecting the rest

3

Creating ‘green necklace’ by connecting the exiting green areas through the site

4

Parcel’s shape follows the road boundary

5

Creating pedestrian path connection, then provides nodes (as the public open space) for pedestrian (user or visitor)

6

The building masses shape follows the parcel’s shape, the skyline reach its highest point at the center (iconic building)

selected work — 01

The site located at sire medana, North Lombok. Its remote location would give a serene ambience and calmness. The most interesting part of this site is the view of the sea and the abundant amount of coconut palm trees. Objective of this project is to create a design that promotes interaction between guests and the nature. As for the building expression itself, traditional architecture character is being adapted.

SLUM AREA INTERVENTION (BOGOR) brief // conceptual idea to improve space quality of slum area size // 1 district (partial intervention) project type // Conceptual location // Paledang, Bogor, Indonesia company, team// Design Alliance Workshop, M Ridwan Fauzi, Fadhil Sadewo role // macro and micro concept, base analysis, presenting to client (NGO)

Bogor was one of the closest major city from Jakarta. Nowadays, there are some areas that not really well-organized by the goverment which result in organic grows of housing in the riverfront area. Kemitraan Habitat (our client) as Non Governmental Organization initiated to make changes through creative idea towards this riverfront zone. In the future, this idea would be brought to the government in order to trigger any ‘top-down’ action.

selected project — 08

The aim of the project was to create an intervention model as a typical solution for areas with similar issue in the city. The approach we did for the design was by free up the river setback and ‘re-fill’ it with enhanced correspond programs.

The Archdiocese’s objective is to optimise the church owned land for institutional purposes. It intends to build on this prime freehold site an iconic, integrated facility ti accomodate a home for retired priests to lead an active live; an archdiocesan centre for the formation of Catcholic with self -contained ancillary and complementary supporting facilities.

selected work — 03

The design approach for the Catholic Archdiocesan Hub is a humble and dignified interpretation of the brief and the site context. In optimising the existing site, the building functions and forms are articulated in synthesis with the land. The interplay of forms, land, and the mesh skin of the building simulates a “Cradle” protecting the people and creating an envelope which signifies God’s encompassing nature. The design also maximises natural light and ventilation as an approach towards sustainability.

Natural light and ventilation play a significant role in the design. In the day, light infiltrates into the spaces. At night, the building stands as a beacon, guiding one along the right path, “through the darkest valley. Jakarta is ‘sick’ today, number of problems has become part of daily life. In the near future it will not be significant but in 10, 25, 30 years from now it is highly possible getting worse, it would give more disavantage than the benefit. Nowdays, at the era of rapid development, is the critical time to start planning and stepping up.

selected work — 01

Dukuh atas as one of major area in Jakarta is a meeting point of various user, building typology, city stratum, transport mode, road hierarchy and activities. This slice of city is a good sample of how the image of developing countries in South East Asia take form, showing us the whole spectrum of built environment with its problems.

EXISTING CARPARK USAGE AS ENHANCEMENT OF EXISTING

COMMUNAL PARKING TO ADJUST THE WALKING HABIT

At first, its only complementary for user within the radius. In the future when people get used to walk or bike and cars are no longer dominating the road, the car par lot could be converted to a unit, so the landed house can be re-converted as soil and greenery

In the future, car park shall not be used only for the private building, but also 24hrs for public (e.g resident in the vicinity). By doing this, it would help the load of parking on the street, therefore the street can be converted to pedestrian and green walkway

The physical environment of cities is major representation of a biophilic cities. relation e.g: selling, buying, trading, recycling, waste processing

However, the true extent to which a city and its residents can be said to be biophilic will depend on some other things such as: amount of time residents spend outdoors, how much they care and have knowledge about nature around them, people are actively involved in experiencing nature like gardening, biking around, bird watching, etc. Furthermore, in biophilic environment, citizens have abundant opportunities to be engaged in caring for the nature around them. Therefore, creating biophilic environment will need amount of time and strong collaboration between stakeholders.

THE ‘HEART’ TO IMPROVE URBAN METABOLISM

ertain programs are integrated into the cility such as urban farming, recycling ntre, trade market, fish pond, public aces, waste treatment, etc. Injecting ose will knit a new relations to the rrounding. Stakeholders are no longer quired to travel far to get what they need (e.g: foodstuffs for restaurant)

FACADE INTERVENTION AS ENHANCEMENT OF EXISTING

In the future, goverment shall take serious action on building regulation for green provision. Building along the skywalk shall contribute green and as incentive, the reduced saleable area shall be replaced on the skywalk with corresponding function.

CLOSED GREEN LOOP

Creating closed looping vehicle system and convert the internal road to pedestrian and green walkway. In the future, the vehicle loop will become smaller and pedestrian network is increasingly widespread

GREEN SKYWALK TO ADJUST THE WALKING HABIT

Provide another platform to walk and bike and integrate it with existing bus shelter and future MRT / LRT station. Economy function will be put in as activity generator. The road system below shall be adjusted accordingly.

TOD CONNECTIVITY AS ENHANCEMENT OF EXISTING

Provide better connectivity for pedestrian in order to generate an effective commute-culture. MRT / LRT station should be connected to other transportaion mode such as bus, bike, even boat (in the future)

ROAD BECOME GREEN & PEDESTRIAN CONNECTION

Disconnection of one side to another, walkability is not good enough at this point.

By regulation in the future, certain area size of program from nearest building is required to be replaced by greenery. Same size of the converted program shall be moved to the skywalk as activity generator (e.g: hotel -> capsule hotel, office -> coworking space, etc)

RIVER BODY BECOME ACTIVE PARK & ECO SERVED AREA

Most existing housings in the country are dominated by vehicle road. It creates a ‘gap’ between its resident-- they interact less and less connected with the environment. Modification of plain housing system by make it more pedestrian oriented could give two advantages: Outdoor cicrculation spine as public space (to connect people with people and its environment); it also acts as evacuation route when earthquake occurs.
