Rijk Zwaan Australia
Catalogue 2016-2017
Welcome Rijk Zwaan develops high quality vegetable varieties for the agri-food industry. We apply our professional expertise and sophisticated techniques to the rich genetic diversity that nature has to offer. This continuous improvement process produces plant varieties with ever better combinations of the desired traits. We ensure that the effectiveness and efficiency of the plant breeding process is improving all the time, we seek solutions for germination problems and plant diseases, and we are continually developing new and more advanced methods for sorting seeds. We do so in our own state of the art laboratories, and we also participate in a global collaboration network of leading research institutes and universities. By exchanging ideas about both cultivation and sales, we help growers to get the most out of our varieties. However, Rijk Zwaan is not focused on direct customers alone; we also have close contact with food service providers, retailers and vegetable processors through our international network of chain managers. The only way to develop vegetables, product lines and concepts that are perfectly aligned with market requirements is by working together.

What a great idea to share salads around the world with new friends. I connect local growers to the consumer by organising growers to come and talk to the community to share the story behind their salad.

Cucumber Spicy Noodle Salad with Carrot, Cucumber and Coriander Ingredients: • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced • 1 carrot, grated • Handful of fresh coriander • 1 red chili, thinly sliced • 100g vermicelli noodles Dressing Ingredients: • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar • 1 tablespoon soy sauce • 3 tablespoons sesame oil • 1 tablespoon honey • 1 teaspoon grated ginger Method:
Cook the noodles by covering in boiling water for 3 minutes. Drain and allow to cool. Combine all salad ingredients with the noodles in a large bowl. Whisk together dressing ingredients and divide into separate serving dishes.
Like most Aussie blokes I know, I sometimes have difficulty considering salad as a "meal". But with the right ingredients they can become a delicious, healthy and filling main meal. Steve
