Travel Tips Beach fun

1) Freeze water balloons. For a fun twist on freezing water bottles to keep your food cool, freeze water balloons instead, and when they thaw out, you can have a sure-to-be-fun water balloon fight! 2) Bring a blow-up pool. If you bring a small blow-up pool to the beach, it can act as a play yard to keep your kids in the one spot. They can happily play inside, make sandcastles and just generally have fun. 3) Make a shell necklace. Often sea shells have natural holes in them, so bring some colorful thread. See if you and your kids can find some of those shells, and string them on your thread. Tie a knot before and after each shell to keep them in place. Then, tie the ends together, and it's ready to wear. This can be a fun break from playing in the sand — and you have a nifty and inexpensive souvenir. 4) Design a "Zen" sandbox. Bring a shoebox to the beach, and when your kids get a bit demanding, divert their attention by asking them to create a beautiful sand, shell and stone garden for you.

Off the beaten path Historic St. Andrews is a community of Panama City, Florida, along the beautiful St. Andrews Bay. There are several restaurants, shops, the marina and a beautiful park. Oaks by the Bay park features beautiful old oak tress covered in Spanish moss, a leisurely walking trail and a boardwalk that ends up by the St Andrews Bay. It is a great place to catch the sunset! It is also host to the St Andrews Christmas Village of Lights, concerts and other events throughout the year. You can find more information about the history, event schedules, maps and a list of shops and restaurants on their website: http://www.historicstandrews.com/ The St. Andrews Waterfront Farmers Market is most every Saturday from 8am to 1pm all year long. It is located at the Smith’s Yacht Basin next to the Shrimp Boat Restaurant. They have local vendors with fresh veggies, crafts & more.

Visit Historic St. Andrews, 2 miles east of Hathaway Bridge on Hwy 98 then South on Beck Avenue. If you are looking to spend a few hours away from the crowds or just looking for something different to do , I recommend visiting the Village of St Andrews! Go to the farmers market, stay for lunch and take a walk through the Oaks by the Bay Park. You will be glad that you did.
