THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL
A FILM BY WES ANDERSON, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL , IS A MOVIE SET IN THE 1930S AT A EUROPEAN SKI RESORT. THE CINEMATIC FILM IS CENTERED AROUND THE TRIBULATION OF A CONCIERGE AND A LOBBY BOY.




DESIGN CONCEPT

CONCEPT
WHILST MAINTAINING THE AESTHETICS OF THE MOVIE THROUGH THE COLOR PALLET AND THE OVERALL AMBIANCE, INSPIRATION DRAWS FROM THE CULTURE OF THAILAND - THE ORIGINATION OF THE CUISINE.





BRANDING STATEMENT

Reflecting the film, the brand need to be crisp but quirky. The restaurant name, Zero, is an ode to the name of the lobby boy in the movie. The physical logo is noodles being plucked out of a circle - which imitates the number zero and showcases the cuisine.


The primary color of Zero is deep red, which is a staple color from The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Zero gives you a taste of Thailand through its many authentic Thai dishes and beverages.

MALIBU WAS ORIGINALLY OWNED PRIVATELY BY A FAMILY AS A RANCH, UP UNTIL THEY WERE FORCED TO SELL IT TO THE STATE LITTLE BY LITTLE.

THE COASTAL TOWN IS WORLD RENOWN FOR ITS TOPOGRAPHY AND VIEWS, DRAWING IN TOURIST FROM NEAR AND FAR.

SUBTLE FURNISHINGS WERE CHOSEN IN THE SPACE TO FOCUS THE ATTENTION ON THE VIEWS WITHOUT LOOSING COLOR. DIRECTOR CHAIRS ARE USED IN THE OUTDOOR SPACE AS A NOD TO WES ANDERSON.







FOR LARGER PARTIES WISHING TO SIT OUTSIDE, THE LARGE TABLES MEET THEIR REQUEST. THE FOOD TRUCK BAR IS CONVENIENTLY NEAR THE PATIO.

FOOD TRUCK

A LARGE ATTRACTION TO ZERO, THE FOOD TRUCK BAR IS PARKED RIGHT OUTSIDE THE COURT YARD. THE BAR SERVES BEVERAGES THAT ORIGINATE FROM THAILAND. THE FOOD TRUCK CAN BE RENTED FOR CATERING AT WEDDINGS, PARTIES, FUNDRAISERS, AND MANY MORE SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
