Our collage/relief model is all about simplicity, minimalism, and very straightforward in conveying the message of the ideas/concepts. The design is based on all of the elements (that can act as guidelines) that we have extracted from our case study house – Harrison House case study no. 26. We divided into three main categories, which is form, design principles, & keywords. Form includes shape (square, rectangle, rightangled triangle), size (long, wide, thin, thick), and colour (white, brown, grey). Design principles include axis, datum, and repetition. Lastly, keywords include texture (smooth to represent the polished finished house & rough to represent the site location), material (steel, glass, timber), and other key points such as double ceiling, cantilever, flat roofed, overlapping/intersecting.
So, we tried to put, mix, and arrange all of these “guidelines” into our elements inside the board. As it is shown in the picture, the hole in the left represents the interior as it is going “inside”, and the flat glass material above that wanted to show the sense of double ceiling The lines represent axis and repetition, and steel material. The right-angled triangle represents the slanted double ceiling roof. The rough textures represent the ruggedness of the site, but at the same time, represent the trees (when exposed to flashlight) on the site/the nature, as the Harrison house is actually built without disturbing the site, or in other words, respecting the authenticity of the nature. Overall, the elements also look connected to each other, as the interior of the house represents connections/unity of space in overall by not having too many walls, doors, “separator” between spaces. We hope that the audience can also receive the same messages as the creators do
