HIDDEN LINES INHABITING THE ERIDANOS
PRAXITELES
LYKOS
Program
Running through the center of Athens, the Eridanos river engages in a quiet rebellion in the athenian landscape. It’s pathway belongs to no particular time periodthroughout time it has fluctuated and changed, however it continues to endure as an unseen element, a drawing
on the landscape.
Hidden lines takes the Eridanos as it’s backbone-The pathway of the river is revived through inhabitation. The spaces seek to highlight or support efforts in the places in which the river makes itself known. All interventions will make use of the same language- multiple masses divided either by the flow of the river, or by the memory of its flow, manipulated according to site particularities. This Project focuses on the development of the core typology of this system- the Archeaologies of the Future Museum, on the banks of the eridanos, in Syntagma square.

MUSEUM HUB-SYNTAGMA SQUARE The project is a library, a gallery, a cafe, and the exposed river functions as a public forum. Formally, a light shaft unites the volume of the library with the craggy shsyt and limestone of the athenian landscape. The building is given an underbelly - it faces northwest to swallow the gentler sunlight and blocks off its southern facade with stone. The visitor is brought into the space through an extension of the space underneath the ubiquitous polykatoikia-landscape - this becomes the route of circulation that wraps around the shifting walls that define the program. Cafe total 4,000 sq foot Interior 2,000 Forum 4,700 Total 15,000 square feet of gallery 9,200 square feet of library It is situated at the center of Greek political life and is intended to function as a cultural resevoirin times of intensity the space may expand to the library roof space and confront the Voulis- or make This space is intended to privilege the esoteric presence of the river and provide a canvas for other forms of expression.
