Omonoia Square, once referred to as the Heart of Athens, has now become a symbol of social collapse. In contrast, Syntagma Square, located approximately 1.3km away, has established itself as the new center of Athens and continues to thrive with tourists. In order to revitalize Omonoia Square, I proposed a network that will attract not only the tourists, but also the locals, in order for the general area of Omonoia Square to continue thriving in the future. My main initiative was to bring an intervention in the Athina street, the main street that leads straight towards Omonoia square from Monastiraki.

INTERVENTION The exhibition is displayed in chronological experience from beginning to the end. Also, the exhibition is displayed in two ways, one on the ground as a walking experience and on the walls as an engaging experience. The wires are visual mappings of intertwined events that has inuenced the things that are being exhibited.

INITIAL IDEA My initial idea was to create a portable interventions that can attach/detach itself onto a building that was in need of care. These portable interventions will be attached until the building has been revitalized, and will be placed all along the Athina Street to create multiple zones of intervention. 22’

Lifting the exhibition to allow pedestrains to use the sidewalk and walk underneath.
Small glass frames gives slight hint of view at the exhibition above, sparking curiosity to people who are walking by underneath.
The exhibition walls act as a guidance through each art work but also in some areas become a point of entrance into the main building.
CONCEPT MODEL In these models, I tried to map out the movements of the local and the tourist and their points of intersection through out the surrounding area of Omonoia square. These models answered my question of where people will enter my intervention from and gave me a guide on how to coherently tie the Athina street and my intervention together.
