Greeting in the Name of our Lord Jesus, in whom, we live, ServiceTimes
move and have our being!
Sunday English Service 10am - 1230 pm
When engaging a group of Athen philosophers on the reality of God, Paul used a communication style that was attuned to his audience’s mindset & culture, quoting quotes made by poets of their time. (Acts17:28-29) Isn’t this the same way Jesus talked to fishermen using their vocational language & metaphors, subsequently transforming them from men who fish to fishers of men! (Matt 4:19).

In Acts 17:28, Paul said, “ .. Yet He (God) is not far from each one of us, for “in Him we live and move and have our being; as even some of your own poets have said, “For we are indeed his offspring.” This short excerpt gives us a prompt & challenge to evaluate the reality of God in our lives, defining what a walk with the Father should be like. Firstly, in Him, we live. Yes, we emerge from death to life when we are in Christ! The question is how is this spiritual “alive-ness” being manifested in the natural? Do we live with the zest of life, so full of hope, motivation and enthusiasm not because the earthly attractions are so good but because we had adopted a new way of life in the Kingdom? Never give the world a notion that you are missing out something after saying “NO” to the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life, which are wrapped up and sugar-coated with the camouflage of Prosperity, Aggressiveness & Selfsufficiency. Neither should we draw a solemn and sad gloomy countenance (like what was described of the Pharisee in Matt 6:16 when they fasted), presenting the christian faith as a journey of deprivation, depression, and dullness. On the contrary, we should sprout with fresh newness every day, with bubbling joy and victorious composure even in the face of challenges. All these are possible not because we are capable, but because God’s grace is sufficient! Continue on Pg 3…

Hearing Him thru the Rainforest! By Bro George Ong
My family was blessed to go for a family vacation. We were delighted to live and stay at what was known as an UNESCO World Heritage site, the Gunung Mulu National Park. Yes, one would expect mosquitoes… I mean, it was after all, a rainforest (think Lim Chu Kang Forest, guys). Yet at the park, it was God’s eco-system that prevailed! We were told that there were mosquitoes, but the bats in the caves would come out and finish them off. Zara and the children were virtually unscathed! Praise God for His order and wisdom!
It was one morning, while the family was still resting, I made myself a cup of tea, and headed out of the room. Seated in a wooden chair, I gazed into the forest. The sun was beginning to rise as I sat there quietly, listening to the rustling of leaves, the calls of the early morning birds, and watched for movements in the forest.
Closing my eyes, I started to thank the Lord for this amazing place that He has preserved, and has allowed us to come and enjoy, particularly to enjoy His creation. While thanking Him, I felt an impression upon my heart, “look at the rainforest, there is order in My creation.”
This immediately brought me to the verse, “But all things should be done decently and in order.” (1 Corinthians 14:40 ESV) As I looked at the rainforest, I just thought that the rainforest was so messy - there are ferns all about, creepers on some trees, nothing in the forest was really in order. Then another impression, “man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” Opening my eyes, I looked at the rainforest again, and wondered, “What is the heart of the rainforest?” As I thought about it, I observed that everything was peaceful in the rainforest, birds began to chirp, but it was peaceful. There were fishes coming to the surface of the ponds, to eat the insects, but there was peace. Could the peace of God constitute to the “orderliness” in 1 Corinthians 14 as well?
I whipped out the Thayer’s Definition in my cell phone to understand what “in order” meant, it is defined:
1. 2. 3. 4.
An arranging, arrangement
Order - A fixed succession observing a fixed time
Due or right order, orderly condition
The post, rank, or position which one holds in civic or other affairs
- Since this position generally depends on one’s talents,
experience, resources( Character, fashion, quality and style) Continue on Pg 3… !2
Hearing Him thru the Rainforest! Continue from Pg 2…
It was 4th definition that caught my eye. It seemed like the rainforest and its inhabitants knew their positions. And that also constituted to its orderliness. After that, I just thought about these two concepts of orderliness, and subsequently about ourselves. Are we orderly? Do we have the peace of God (that surpasses all understanding) in our lives? If we do, do we bring the peace of God when we meet with each other? Do we also know our positions, with respect to the Church? Do we know where we stand? What roles do we live out in the Church?
As I thought about these things, I felt the Holy Spirit teaching me to find: my peace in Him; my identity in Him; my marching orders from Him. And I invite you, the readers, too, to join me, as we draw closer to God, to hear Him and to obey.
May God bless you and may you continually delight in Him! Amen!

Secondly, in Him, we move. The Christian faith is a moving faith. There is progress. There is movement. Living cells in a body move to carry oxygen to every part, every organ of the body so that the entire body will function normally. If cells are not moving in a body, it will become a tired & lethargic body. Similarly, if the members of a church are not moving & progressing, the outcome is a tired & lethargic church. We are to be moving cells, carrying God’s love & anointing to every part of the body of Christ, both the local & the universal church, and in that process, impacting lives. On another note, to move, there must be a direction to move towards. And that has been in place, specially so at a time like ours, where the ever pressing goal to advance the kingdom of God, to set captives free, and to build the Church of God are all laid before us! The people of God cannot afford to stagnate and polarised at a corner of complacency and inactiveness. Emerge from your comfort zone and get into the war zone to battle against the darkness of the end times! Thirdly, in Him, we have our being. This is the ultimate purpose we are called into to be in Christ that our entire person, which include our character, our emotions, our personality, our experiences and our make-up will all operate in the person of Jesus, meaning, we will become more and more like Him - walk like Him, talk like Him and think like Him! 2 Cor 3:18 says, “ And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is Spirit.” Dear Brothers & Sisters, John 15:4 says, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me”. It all boils down to the “In Him” principle. Without Christ, all our living, all our moving and all our beings will just turn out a shallow way of life, with no excitement of eternity, no effectiveness to touch lives, & no inside-out transformation of life! Therefore, lets go no where else but to be in Him, to live, to move & to have our being! Amen! Bro Francis Leong
