Often times when we read a Bible passage that lists down genealogies, an initial response is to skip them and move further down the verses that dwell on more active & interesting narratives. Don’t we all do that? I do - until the Lord impressed upon me that every word in the bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and carries a message! And indeed they do!

If there is one thing you won’t fail to find in the Bible, it’s the names of people - throughout history, throughout civilisations, throughout great biblical events. The detailed listing of names in the genealogies tell us one thing - that God’s focus is on people. His agenda in creation is people. Not the vegetation. Not the animals. It’s you and me. The value He places on us warrants His action to send His only Son to die on the Cross! We all worth that much in His eyes! Secondly, the chronological sequence of the name list & the lineage order say much about God works among and between generations, one after another. Our God is the God of generations! The instruction so repeatedly emphasised in the bible is to “tell your children & your children’s children about His law & miracles through the generations! The legacy of God’s presence, works & goodness must live on through the generations, communicated through & down the layers of our lineage! Every name on the genealogy list was someone significant whether he was a man who played a pivotal role in changing biblical history or was a quiet grandmother who taught her grand children the ways of God! Of course, there were those who walked the wrong side away from God’s will and became warning signals for us to avoid following. If ever the book of ACTS were to be continued to be written, at some chapters down the road, your name & mine would Continue on Pg 3…

Disconnect to Connect By Sis Pricilla Chua During the June holidays, King's Generation went on a 2D1N trip to our mission house in Kluang, Malaysia. It was a significant trip because it marks our very first overseas excursion together as a ministry. There were many highlights: from the entertaining games to the strenuous hike, from the delectable packet foods to the all-consuming worship session; undeniably one of the most incredible and unforgettable adventure! The presence of God was so real during our worship session and Pastor Steven’s sharing. It was then that I finally grasped the essence of the saying: To an Audience of One. Though the room was filled with people, it felt as if it was just me and God. My eyes focused solely on Him; my heart yearned only for Him. Oh, how the love and joy of the Lord lavished me! The challenge now, is to not lose what God has deposited in us, allow Him to reside fully in us and bring His powerful presence wherever we go. At the beginning of the trip

The hike was not what we expected. We have trekked MacRitchie before, but Kluang was a whole new level: a level 10 at least! It was tough, but we enjoyed every minute of the climb. Not only did we push ourselves physically, we also pressed in mentally and emotionally. Each time we wanted to give up, we drew strength from one another! The immense joy when we reached the top made everything worthwhile (until the moment we realised we had to climb down). We had to problem solve (think about ways to ascend/descend), wait for one another (because of the varied abilities), be aware of the surrounding (watch out for one another, for safety reasons especially), arise and take charge (when something cropped up); to put it simply, one for all and all for one! The greatest achievement of all: We survived 2D1N without wifi! When we disconnect ourselves from the world, we allow other connections to take place. We connected with creation, with Pastor Steven, with one another and most importantly, we connected with God. A memorial stone has been added into our lives and a momentous milestone established in KG’s history! May we continue to proclaim His goodness over KG! At the end of the trip

A Kluang Trip Reflection By Bro Vernon Tay

Kluang trip was an amazing and memorable trip for me. I got to know so many new people from church whom I’ve never talked to before. Through this trip, I feel more connected with everyone and I managed to create a stronger bond with some people. With those bonds and small talks with everyone, I feel like I’m really a part of this family now.

For me, a lesson learnt was that I have to stand for what I believe in, instead of having a laid back and “going-with-the-flow” kind of attitude. There are times when I just don’t really say anything because I want peace with everyone, without having to disagree with them. And those things which I don’t make a stand for are things that God doesn’t approve of. Pastor Steven preached about it at such a timely moment so that I can make a firm and strong stand for God for His glory.

This trip was also so full of fun and I enjoyed every second of it. I am really glad I chose to go for this trip instead of meeting my other commitments. The highlight of this trip was the hike up the mountain because you don’t get to experience this type of adventure in Singapore and when you reach the peak of the mountain you’re presented with the scenic view of Kluang, which was really rewarding for me.

In conclusion, I would like to thank the planning committee and organisers for inviting me and making this trip a memorable one for me, giving it 9/10 - 9 because of the mosquitos.

probably be there. The question is: What would it be written of us and about us? Would it be: “ Now when they saw the boldness of ________ (put in your name), …. And they recognised that they had been with Jesus.” ? Or would it be: “ For ________ (put in your name), in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to …..” ? The answer to this question will be this - the choices we made today on how we will live our lives will define the kind of legacy we will leave behind tomorrow. Look with me on Page 2 on the pictures of our JMK youths - what do you see? Yes, beautiful faces! More than that, I see a generation of Daniels’, Joshuas', Deborahs’ & Esthers', all holding the potential to be the pivot point of God’s moves in JMK, in Singapore and in the nations! Having read till this point, may I urge you to stretch out your hand over these faces & together say with me, “We bless all our JMK youths, that they will rise up as God’s Special Force, powered by the Holy Spirit, all of them fighting from the position of victory, pushing back every darkness that challenges them, that challenges the church, that challenges Singapore, that challenges the nations, and will triumph over everyone of them in Jesus’ Name! Amen!” Bro Francis Leong
