DAY 2 – Salzburg Wake up in this captivating city with its resplendent horse-drawn carriages and magnificent alpine backdrop. Our knowledgeable guide leads us through its maze of cobbled streets explaining all the hidden points of interest. In your free afternoon you can explore further, perhaps seeing Mozart’s birthplace or locations that featured in The Sound of Music. (B) + Included Experience – Guided tour of Salzburg DAY 3 – Salzkammergut We leave the city for Salzkammergut, the Austrian Lake District, with over 70 lakes starting with Mondsee. Following a route alongside sparkling lakes with crystal clear waters and through velvet green hill pastures with picture postcard views, we then pass through the picturesque spa town of Bad Ischl, once a regular summer destination for

Emperor Franz Joseph. Mountains and forest stretch in all directions as we head for St Wolfgang, where there’s time for lunch. And perhaps ride on the steam-hauled rack railway up the Schafberg mountain – the summit reaches almost 6,000 feet, so it offers spellbinding views! We return to Salzburg in the late afternoon. (B) + Included Experience – See Salzkammergut and visit Bad Ischl DAY 4 – Hellbrunn Palace A short drive from Salzburg is the 17thcentury Hellbrunn Palace, a favoured destination for emperors with rooms decorated in a variety of themes, such as a Chinese Room with hand-painted wallpaper. The gardens are equally unique, and a local guide takes us on a tour of their famous Wasserspiele or ‘trick fountains’, which stop and start to catch visitors unaware. After this remarkable tour, we ascend into the High Alps to stay four nights in the village of Zell-am-See. (B,D) + Included Experience – Guided tour of Hellbrunn Palace and Gardens Day 5 – Krimml Waterfalls We start our exploration of some of the world’s most outstanding alpine terrain, through woodland and peaceful pastures into an ever-narrowing valley, stopping at the Krimml Waterfalls. Take a gentle stroll to see this amazing three-stage series of waterfalls tumbling almost 1,300 feet. (B,D)
