ebruary is Heart Month; a time to focus on heart disease, its consequences, and steps that can be taken to prevent it. In recognition, the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to present Dr. Kari Reiber, Dutchess County’s Commissioner of Health, to discuss risk factors for heart disease and share some insight into health from a pathologist’s viewpoint at the February Contact Breakfast on Wednesday, February 18 from 7:30-9 a.m. at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel. Dr. Reiber was raised in Europe and earned her medical degree in 1982 from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. She went on to complete residency training in surgery and forensic pathology
in the United States. She enlisted in the United States Navy in 1990 and served three years as a medical examiner for the Armed Forces in Washington DC. She then served as a deputy medical examiner in New York City for 10 years. Reiber was appointed chief medical examiner in Dutchess County in September 2003 and then Commissioner of Health for a period of two years following Dr. Caldwell’s retirement in June 2013.
