Frank Castella, Jr. receiving the 2016 Chamber of the Year Award from Heather C. Briccetti, Esq., President and CEO of The Business Council of New York, Inc.
Your Chamber is your advocate in the community. We work with our elected officials to make New York, and by extension, Dutchess County, easier to live, work, and do business. It is up to everyone to Think Local First and to promote local businesses by being patrons of our membership. When you need a product or service, I encourage you call or visit a fellow Chamber member. Working together fosters a louder voice with our elected officials and within the business community, not to mention building a stronger economy.
If you’re looking to make an even greater impact on the Hudson Valley business community, we have many advertising opportunities included in the cost of your membership. Be a guest on one of our radio shows, post events on our community calendar, and be featured in the Member News section of our print newsletter and website, which reaches tens of thousands of people. For more information and/or other ways to target potential customers, please contact Nancy DeWitt, Director of Business Services, at (845) 454-1700, ext. 1012 or ndewitt@dcrcoc.org. The Chamber legacy began in 1907 when community leaders saw the need and opportunity to develop our local economy and community. Over the last 110 years, the region has changed dramatically and the Chamber has been right there leading the way. Thank you for being a member of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce. I look forward to seeing you at one of our events. In the meantime, if you have any questions or ideas about how to make our Chamber better, do not hesitate to call me at (845) 454-1700, ext. 1008.

DUTCHESS COUNTY REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE REFERENCE GUIDE
THINK LOCAL FIRST
There’s something special about the Hudson River Valley. Here there exists an opportunity to shop in locally owned businesses selling unique products or offering old-fashioned tailor-made customer services. Here there are worldclass tourist destinations like the Walkway Over the Hudson and the FDR Home and Museum. Here you can dine in some of the finest restaurants anywhere in the country, many served by local farms and agriculturalists and staffed by graduates from The Culinary Institute of America, a feeder system that has led to one observer calling the region “the Napa Valley of food.” In an era of increasing homogenization where major conglomerations dominate the landscape of so many cities and towns across America, here in the Hudson Valley we are lucky – lucky to be able to hang on to our unique cultural identity, fortunate to be a place where local business, small business, family business and community-focused business is not just welcome, but the backbone of everything we are.
But so much of what makes our Valley special only exists so long as we all continue to fight for it. Whether we’re businesspeople, tourists or consumers, we all have a choice where and how we spend our money. Make the right choice – the choice that helps keep our community bonded together, the choice that helps our region remain a destination, a place unlike any other – Think Local First.
THE CHAMBER FOUNDATION
The Chamber Foundation is the nonprofit educational organization of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce. In 2017, they provided nearly $40,000 in scholarships to local students. The Foundation is also responsible for the Leadership Dutchess program, which for nearly 30 years has been grooming the next generation of area leaders, as well as the Youth Leadership program for highachieving Dutchess County high school students.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
The Chamber believes in putting all people to work and getting everyone involved in growing the economy. The Workforce Development Center works with the unemployed and underprivileged of Dutchess County to help them find jobs, internships, skills training, mentorship and whatever else they need to be a productive member of our community.
YOUTH ONE STOP
Youth One Stop is a comprehensive education and job-training program utilizing local resources to benefit at-risk youth in Dutchess County. The program is open to incomeeligible youth, ages 14-24 who are facing obstacles inhibiting them from completing school, finishing their HSE, or gaining employment. Participants will explore career options in the community and gain practical experience through jobs and internships as well as have access to tutoring, mentorship, and degree/certification programs.

“Being awarded the Headliner for ‘Leadership in Business and Community’ was an incredible honor for several reasons. First, being honored by my peers in the business community was extremely meaningful and affirmed that my approach to business and giving back was the correct one. Second, being recognized by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce, even before becoming a member, spoke volumes about the inclusive attitude and approach of the Chamber. It was because of this honor, and seeing what went on at the Chamber’s Contact Breakfast, that I decided to get involved and have my firm join. In hindsight, based upon a year of membership and positive experiences since, I wish we had joined long ago.”
