"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen." Health Ministry April is Healthy Foot Care Month: We are encouraged to walk for good health, weight loss, trying to increase our lung capacity and help with our heart health nearly every day in the newspaper, and on television. How often do we take the advice to heart? Walking, whether it is for enjoyment, exercise or simply to get from one place to another can be the easiest and most popular form of exercise. There are health related benefits and it also contributes to your overall sense of well being. The problem is that even the shortest walk can become a most arduous task if you have sore feet. You can wear the best footwear but unless you maintain proper footwear it may be in vain. It is important to have your feet examined if they are causing you to use sore feet as an excuse for being sedentary. All you peoples, clap your hands, shout to God with cries of gladness. Psalm 47:2 Easter is a season of Joy. Why is Joy a neglected part of prayer, especially at this special time of year? Each evening we should try to reflect on our day and ask “ What is at least one thing in this day for which I can be glad?” This will help to recover some of the Joy and give thanks to God. I hope I never let a day go by without glimpsing a touch of Joy and crying out to God with gladness. Happy Easter. Visit the Parish Nurse link at myolph.com for current news and information. Many thanks to the hundreds who attended the 28th Annual Catholic Charities Dinner for the Chattanooga Region. Funds raised through the event will benefit the poor and marginalized of the Chattanooga area.

A misconception among some Catholics is that the priest has an ideal job: he works one day each week, Sunday. They forget that the other six days a week the priest works long and hard behind the scenes: bringing communion to the sick and elderly, counseling troubled families, visiting school classes, preparing individuals for sacraments. Often the job is frustrating, exhausting and thankless, but always of vital importance. Take some time this week and express appreciation to your priests for the difficult work they do. SERRA There will be a Divine Mercy Devotion on Sunday, April 11 at St. Jude Church beginning at 2:30 pm. Service includes exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, singing the Divine Mercy chaplet, blessing of Divine Mercy images and other religious articles, and Benediction. The Lord has truly been raised…He was made know to us in the breaking of the bread. Luke 24:13-35. The location of Emmaus has not been definitively established. Two sites northwest of Jerusalem make strong claims. One is approximately seven miles from Jerusalem as reported in Luke’s Gospel; the other is approximately twenty miles, but makes a stronger case. The disciples that encountered Jesus would have left Jerusalem early in the morning. Walking at a brisk pace they could cover twenty miles in one day. They do not recognize Jesus, but are impressed with his knowledge of Scripture. They urge him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.” It would be nice to know the location of Emmaus, but it is much more important to understand that the two disciples realized, “our hearts were burning within us.” They recognized Jesus as the Risen Lord in the breaking of the Bread and rushed back to Jerusalem to tell others. Do we recognize Jesus as the Risen Lord in the Breaking of the Bread? Do we rush out to tell others? This Easter morning is a good time to start to do that?

Who is Jesus? In chemistry, He turned water to wine. In biology, He was born without the normal conception; In physics, He disapproved the law of gravity when He ascended into heaven; In economics, He disapproved the law of diminishing return by feeding 5000 men with two fishes & 5 loaves of bread; In medicine, He cured the sick and the blind without administering a single dose of drugs, In history, He is the beginning and the end; In government, He said that he shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace; In religion, He said no one comes to the Father except through him; So. Who is He? He is Jesus! Join me and let's celebrate him; He is worthy. The eyes beholding this message shall not behold evil, the hand that will send this message to everybody shall not labor in vain, and the mouth saying amen to this prayer shall smile forever. Remain in God and seek his face always. Amen! In God I've found everything! The Greatest Man in History Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master. Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. I feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us!

"Listen, can you hear it? Spring's sweet cantata. The strains of grass pushing through the snow. The song of buds swelling on the vine. The tender timpani of a baby robin's heart. Spring.!" - Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider, Northern Exposure
