Bienvenidos to The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus and “Fiesta for All” There is no music quite like this. It touches deep in the heart with its passion and creates an irresistible urge to “shake our bon-bons”! It is music rooted in the joy of romance, family, friends and la danza (dance). In creating this concert, it has been our pleasure and honor to work with a number of very talented local Latino/Hispanic arts groups, including the Ballet Folklórico Baile Caliente and Semblanzas de Mexico, as well as The Museo de las Americas. We have also collaborated with other non profits such as the Mexican Cultural Center and Casa de Paz. Make sure you visit their tables in the lobby and see the stunning Art Exhibition. All of these community leaders work hard to preserve and promote this wonderful heritage and advocate for positive change in our community. A huge thank you to those art groups and non profit groups that have been so generous with their time and talents to make the performances of Fiesta for All sparkle in a way we could never have imagined. We are also thrilled to have representatives joining us from the Mexican Consulate at our Denver concerts. I also want to thank James Williard of the Zenergy Dancesport Dancers: a master performer who has brought his awesome dancers to share some remarkable Latino dance forms in the show. Sit back (if you can!) and let the music transport you to a warmer climate filled with color, rhythm and the delight of la vida bonita! James Knapp Artistic and Managing Director Denver Gay Men’s Chorus Hola familia y amigos! The Rocky Mountain Arts Association (RMAA) is pleased to present this Denver Gay Men’s Chorus concert, “Fiesta for All!” The singers have worked extremely hard to present an aural and visual extravaganza that will entertain and inspire you. We welcome all new patrons to our “familia” and embrace our faithful patrons who are returning to see DGMC! DGMC was thrilled to be included in the inauguration ceremony and subsequent celebrations for the nation’s first openly gay elected governor, Jared Polis, in January. Watch DGMC.org for our upcoming video! We hope that you enjoy and continue to support the work we are doing to “build community through music”. Please join us in June for our very special Pride concert, “Quiet No More; A Choral Celebration of the 50th anniversary of Stonewall”. In this new commission and Colorado premiere, we will be collaborating with the Denver Women’s Chorus and have over 225 voices on the stage of the King Center at Metropolitan State University in a joint performance marking the 50th Anniversary of the gay rights movement in the United State. Go to dgmc.org for more details and how to donate to the chorus.

Thanks be to the life that has given me so much! It has given me sound and the alphabet And with its words I think and speakMother, friend, brother, and the light that brightens The path of the soul of the one I love. Thanks be to the life that has given me so much! It has given me the step of my tired feet. With them I walked around the cities and puddles, Beaches and deserts, mountains and plains And your house, your street, and your courtyard.
Poco Loco
Thanks be to the life that has given me so much! It has given me laughter and it has given me tears So I may distinguish joy from griefThe two things my song is made of And the song of all of you, which is my own song.

Bolero
Music - Maurice Ravel Arranger - David Maddux
Ravel’s Bolero is his most famous composition and is in the top twenty most popular pieces of classical orchestral music in the world. Inspired by “Iberica”, the work of Spanish composer, Isaac Albéniz, Ravel created an original piece based on the Bolero, a slow-tempo musical dance form that originated in the 18th century ballrooms in Seville, Spain. DGMC is proud to present the Colorado Premiere of this vocal transcription for Men’s Chorus.
Como La Flor
Soloists: Will Young (March 9), Gene Olvera (March 15, 16 7:30pm), Spencer Case (March 16 2pm, March 20)
Translation: I know that you have a new love. Nevertheless, I wish you all the best If in me you didn’t find happiness, perhaps someone else will give it to you. Refrain: Like the flower with so much love that you gave to me it withered. I´m leaving today. I know how to lose. But oh how it hurts me. You can’t imagine how it hurts to lose your love With your goodbye you took my heart. I don’t know if I will be able to love again. Because I gave you all the love that I could give.
Livin’ La Vida Loca
Music & Lyrics - Robi Rosa, Desmond Child & Luis Gomez Escolar Arranger - David Maddux

Casa de Paz began in 2012 as a small, one-bedroom apartment
offering hospitality to families separated by immigrant detention. Our work has always been to host families whose loved ones are being detained and individuals who have been recently released. In 2017 we moved into a larger, rented house with more space so that we would not have to turn people away. Today, Casa de Paz provides visits and emotional support, shelter and meals, access to phones, WiFi, computers and transportation. Detention is a difficult time that tears families apart and creates a financial burden, so we have always offered our services free of cost. Since we first opened our doors we’ve hosted over 1,600 immigrants and the need only continues to grow. You can find more information at

The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus was founded in 1982 with a passionate commitment to the lives and well-being of LGBTQ persons and steadfast dedication to fostering tolerance and acceptance among diverse communities in Colorado. Now in its 37th year as the premier gay performing arts organization in the Rocky Mountain region, the DGMC has performed more than 250 concerts that have entertained, educated, inspired and empowered audiences of all ages. From guest appearances with the Colorado Symphony at Boettcher Concert Hall, participation in a Prince tribute at majestic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, a featured performance with Alan Cumming on his “Legal Immigrant” tour at the Paramount Theatre, to a groundbreaking appearance beneath the stunning spires of the US Air Force Academy Chapel, the 120 voices of The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus have remained true to its mission of ‘building community through music.” The DGMC has performed newly-commissioned choral works by fifteen composers, including the Rocky Mountain regional premiere of Andrew Lippa’s critically acclaimed “I Am Harvey Milk” before audiences in Denver, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, and Laramie, WY. In 2018-2019, the Chorus joined with treble singers from seventeen community choruses to become the first LGBTQ chorus in North America to perform “Street Requiem”, an homage to citizens in Front Range communities who struggle with homelessness and housing insecurity. The DGMC’s history of advocating for safe and supportive communities for all citizens is reflected in collaborations with many local and national organizations, including The Matthew Shepard Foundation and The LGBT Community Center of Colorado. In Spring 2018, the Chorus embarked on it first-ever school tour at George Washington High School to promote diversity, support at-risk youth, and to combat bullying behavior in our schools. To launch its 2018-2019 season, the DGMC made its first appearance at Coors Field to sing the national anthem at an MLB game between the Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres. In January, by invitation of our newly-elected Governor, himself, the Chorus was thrilled to perform at Jared Polis’s inauguration ceremony and inaugural ball. In late Spring, the ensemble will cap its 2018-2019 season by joining forces with The Denver Women’s Chorus for the Rocky Mountain Regional premiere of “Stonewall 50: Quiet No More” to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, a seminal event in the gay civil rights movement in the United States. The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus will travel to New York City for a June 27th performance at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Christopher Street, followed by a joint performance at Carnegie Hall with singers from twenty-two GALA choruses across the United States.
Off Kilter! is a dynamic a cappella vocal troupe comprised of singers from the larger Denver Gay Men’s Chorus.
