HCA Midwest Health Mission Moments: Dr. Benjamin Mizrahi

When HCA Midwest Health colorectal surgeon Dr. Ben Mizrahi tested positive for COVID-19, he had no idea it was the first day of a year-long illness and recovery journey. But he did know he was in good hands at with our fellow HCA Midwest Health colleagues at Menorah Medical Center. Watch this HCA Midwest Health Mission Moments video.

2023 KC Pride Festival and Parade Recap

Thank you to the 50+ Research College of Nursing students and HCA Midwest Health employees who showed up for our LGBTQ+ community this past weekend for Kansas City's Pride Festival and Parade. Volunteers staffed our HCA Midwest Health booth and marched in the parade. We were grateful to play a part in celebrating and showing our support for this community.

The SPO Gift Shop will have a new vendor. Kaliah D Smith, owner and founder of Crwnd Illustrations greeting cards and stationary will be here for a meet and greet on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 11:00 am until 1:00 p.m. She will have a table introducing herself and her cards to employees and visitors. The cards exclusively celebrate African American imagery and art, but their messages and purpose are universal. Stop by and see the collection and meet the artist at SPO Gift Shop.

Welcome Lauren French, VP of Operations

We are pleased to welcome Lauren French as our new Vice President of Operations. A Missouri native, Lauren is returning to the area after spending the past 2.5 years with Methodist Healthcare, a nine-hospital partnership between HCA and the Methodist Healthcare Ministries in San Antonio, Texas. She most recently served as Associate Administrator at Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak, and served as the Administrative Resident for the Methodist Healthcare System. She received a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Trinity University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Baylor University. She is also a graduate of the HCA Healthcare Executive Residency Program. Please help us welcome Lauren to the RMC family!

Yvonne Adams Celebrates 50th Work Anniversary for RMC

Half a century! That is how long Yvonne Adams, LPN IV on 3 North, has called Research Medical Center home. Her colleagues gifted her with an achievement award, a pair of earrings and lots of food during a surprise party held in her honor last week. "I love where I work. You all mean so much to me."

Employee of the Month: Kelly Pirman, CT Lead

Congratulations to Kelly Pirman in Radiology for earning the honor of Employee of the Month. Her nominator said "she goes above and beyond for her patients and her co-workers. Due to her impressive skills at starting an IV, she's often asked to help others. She never hesitates to help! She communicates well with patients, nurses and the doctors involved in patient care. We couldn't do this without her."

The 30th Anniversary of the ECHO Team Membership Drive, “ECHO Reboot,” recruited 131 new members! The ECHO Team is now comprised of 880 Research Medical Center, Brookside Campus, and Research Psychiatric Center employees. Many ECHO Team members celebrated ECHO Week by wearing campaign t-shirts of the past. These employees are supporting their coworkers through The Research Foundation’s Employee Assistance Fund as well as the foundation’s other healthcentered programs. Learn more at

Safety & Security Update: KCPD Offering Free Self-Defense for LGBTQ+ Community

The Kansas City Missouri Police Department's Defensive Tactics Instructors will lead a free self-defense and personal safety course for members of the LGBTQIA+ community on Saturday, June 24, from 8:00 am - 12 pm at Regional Police Academy, 6885 N.E. Pleasant Valley Road, Kansas City, MO 64157. Space is limited. To reserve a spot, sign up by emailing Angela.McCune@kcpd.org or calling 816-413-3505.

HR Tidbit: How Do I Cash in My PTO?

Administrator on Call (AOC)

Jessica Marin, Chief Operating Officer, was the Administrator on Call (AOC) over the weekend. She rounded on the units and stayed in contact with the House Supervisor to address any questions or concerns.
