whilst visiting rhe banjiilaka gallery, it was edident that famiily is important to the indigenous community. the main form of the machete looks at a hand in hand. it represents indegenous elders passing down knowledge to the future indigenous generation.

ornamental wire meshes hang down from the structures ceiling. tehse create a hanging garden for vines and is derived from the stingray spears (warrngul) of the gobabwingu clan. it looks at taking the spear that deals with wild forces and huntin and turning it into an object that plays host to a liviing thing (vines)

upon entry into hand structure, visitors are greeted with a narrow passage lined with possum skin. by having this narrow and shifting passge, visitors feel as if though they almost wear the possum skin

indigenous communities connection to family and culture is strong. my machete design looks at the concept of elders passing down knowledge to the younger indegenous youth . this is represented by wo hand touching as the main structure. the designc also looks at how indigenous artifacts can influence ornamental pieces.

Crea ng a space that is not completley closed o to the outside whilst bringing elements of nature such plants indoors

RITUALS OF WELLBEING FOR LAND & PEOPLE For regenera on To maintain levels Ac ons and ritual performances (through song, dance, art) Places where rituals can be conducted which have the effect of replenishing the members that’s had links to site are aiming for is to maintain the levels of resources within their country Eg. like car ng seeds around and placing them where they will grow well, leaving a certain amount of food in any area for the other animals who depend on it, and leaving por ons of tubers in the ground to provide the basis for growth for the coming year, burning a percentage of the landscape for flourishing vegeta on growth

complex ritual performances including song, dance, and body paint, which are carried out over long periods of me modest ritual ac ons in which people use green branches to strike the tree, the stone, the antbed, or whatever it is that is associated with the species. The ac on of striking is intended to s mulate the consciousness and ac vity of the Dreaming, with the effect that that species will be s mulated to more growth. increase ceremonies were carried out for each of the important food plants u lised by the desert Aborigines the songs and ceremonies, the ecology and the care all come together
