What is the City?
The Temporal City
(ΔT)4
A city is an opportunity for its residents to live, to make a living, and to have life through interactions, development, and improvement. Aggregation or networks of infrastructure and buildings. It also a place for settlement for living population, especially with the emergence of urbanization from rural areas. It is a concentration of settlements within a particular area. Cities, in the future, would need to be optimized in terms of its velocity of conducting tasks and work especially with a rapidly advancing economy and the emergence of time banks (resembling time as a currency). Government free, every person is a government to their neighbour, A city that law is not enforced but realised. The progress of the city and the quality of life determined by each resident’s effectiveness of using time.
The Temporal City
(ΔT)4
What is time?
The Temporal City
(ΔT)4
Time is a means by which the residents can make use of, redeem, and optimize for the sake of the city’s growth and sustainability. Time also a token with which transaction, exchange, and commerce are done. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency that people use to pay for luxuries and necessities from a clock implanted in their forearm. This can easily be transferred among individuals on body contact. People will stop aging at 25, but there’s a catch: you’re genetically engineered to live only one more year, unless you can buy your way out of it. Those who trade it can live for more than a 100 years.

Buliding footprints dataset showing the programs in a larger scale. Energy consumption datasets with small and large scale being used to know how many solar panels per block created in the future city. Urban morphology dataset shows building heights, refurbished year, and construction year that produces informations for block testing.

I differentiate between pre covid (2018) and covid times (2020), it shows a significant difference on how many pedestrians movement around the city of Melbourne. Profile morphology diagram showing how much open space left around the city, that will be used as the extension of the city in the future.

Djikstra Algorythm Explanation
This diagram experiment shows how djikstra algorhytm works, Everytime you move the base point (highlighted in white circle), the algorhytm will calculate the shortest distance to reach the destination (base point). The concept applies to Rule 2, which is providing an insight information for the future city residents to plan for their movements in the city, so the velocity of task to be done can be maximised.
The Temporal City
(Rule 2)
(ΔT)4
Program Explanation
1. Residential - Residential properties will be increasses in the future city to balance the population growth every year. - There will be a moment where residential areas merges with offices and manufacturing using the floor p plan seperation.
2. Offices - The amount of offices will not be decreasing as well as increasing. - Offices will be dedicated more to high rise buildings, as the lower rise buildings used for other programs.
3. Retail Re - Retails will be deducted as it is no longer prioritised in the future city. - Retails will only used a very little amount of space in the future city.
The Temporal City
4. Manufacturing - Manufacturing buildings will be increasing as the population grows. - Food production will be prioritised, then goods and services after.
5. Community space - Community space s will be built on every block, such that teams can be formed in the economy. - The space will be also used for further expansion of the city on the upcoming decades.
6. Transportation - Main public transport will be using skyway trams that are built in the sky, ground transportation will be decreasing, as residents prefer to walk around the city. - Skyway trams will penetrates to buildings and there will be stops provided in each of the building.

The Temporal City
As per the feedback from Mid Semester Crit, I decided to shift my concept towards Time is currency to be further developed, I kinda leave the Self Sustaining city behind, because it got lack of context and kinda difficult to be developed further. So time as currency, a city for One stop work and living that penetrates to each other and also a Aggregation or networks of infrastructure and buildings. It also a place for settlement for living population, especially with the emergence of urbanization from rural areas. It is a concentration of settlements within a particular area. So, I do revised all the urban rules that I got, because most of the rules from the previous concept integrate with sustainable. (ΔT)4
