THIS IS NOT A SCHOOL
DINH TIEN NGUYEN (S3534309)
RADICAL JUDGMENT
Pandemic, the advance of technologies in communication and online platform which raise the question of the roles of universities in the future when many universities has been wastely unused during the pandemic or even in normal condition while people can learn at home or in the coffeeshops? So, what my belief is future learning environment is no longer holding with any learning programs such as classrooms, auditorium, etc. School is now just a place for people gathering to enhance the social interaction, convergence the connection with both metaverse and physical world and embedded themselves with the culture of the context.

STREET TYPOLOGOES
Social Type
Social type: the porousity of the street with some fixed programs to redefine the role of a street which becoming a gathering place of the community where people find their interest with each others. People going there not only for their social interaction but also for different activities which pop up at the same time. What I think this condition is transformed into a interactive corridor such as digital hall where people can interact with the space.
Creativ
Creative/cultural type: the d and the exposure to the comm to enhance the observative le there not only for studying, w of the culture. Sometimes, the a performative type where it c or even a creative learning pla privacy and publicness can be connected with a public corrid of the space where people stil still have its own space to conn
ve Type
different theme of the space munity which is the potential earning. Besides, people going working but also for their part e space has transformed into can be a workshop, exhibition ayground. The idea of blending e translated into private pods dor through the transparency ll can see each other but they nect with virtual mode.
Performative Type
Performative type: the grandstair of the theatre can be a place to gather people or the walking street can be turned into a stage for the concert or playground which the flexibility of the space can be allowed different learning mode or it’s just a resting place where people seeking the place to calm their mind or ingrain themselves within the culture of the Vietnam context. The ideas of using an open plan with loose furniture can allow the space to be used differently in time where the night life style of CONTEXT IS A BIG CONTRAST TO THE DAY LIFE STYLE.
SECTION 1
The sections is the result of the kaleidoscope process when the section shows the complexities of the space which is chaotic but vibrant. Every corner of the space is connected with a creative/performative space where allows the space can be used differently during the time. Creative, performative and social space is hybridised with eachother. The uneven slabs allowing the smooth transition to the other space which take account of the idea of space can developed multidimensionally as virtual world.

FLOOR PLANS
The ground floor is inherited the language of the performative type and cultural type with the large grandstair case which allows people can interact with each other while embed themselves with cultural style of Vietnamese people such as “hem” culture and coffee culture in a more futuristc theme. The circulation is embedded within the form as well which allowing the dynamic flow of people within the space. A large amphitheatre on the ground floor is dedicated as an informal playground for the youth, an event space or performative space.

The third floor has become more densely while the private space has been significanly dedicated on the middle part of the building. Also, the porous condition on this floor to all the corner of the building can be clearly seen. The private space does not mean thorougly disengage people with the surrounding. AERIAL VIEW
The form of the building is inherited from the process which a hunge of a relfection of the city of Hochiminh city, chaos but vibrance. The building is a contrast of the surrounding when it breaks down the generic building forms on the site. The building also reflect the image of the old school in which form but it is more permeable and welcoming to public with the colour on the facde which is inpired from the context itself.
POROUS ENTRANCE
At the main entrance of the building, we are no longer see the disconnection of the old condition of traditional schoool/ It is now more porous and interactive with the site context. The coffeeshop kiosks along the entrance is sorf of inherirt the coffee culture of Vietnam which make the atmosphere to be vibrant and dynamic. In addition, the addvance of technology allows the building acts as a stage where people is actors/actresses interact with it while the people from inside as audiences watching the performance.
ENTRANCE HALL Stepping into the entrance hall, the idea of using technology such as hologram, VR which blurring the boundary of metaverse and physical wall. The colour tone on the floor is contrast to the pattern of the ceiling which harmonised the space more futuristic. The collision of the private space above which reflect my agenda of the space is intersected with each other to allow observative learning take place smoothly.
PERFORMATIVE ATRIUM Connecting with the grandamphitheatre, the atrium is now not only used as collecting the light for the space, it is a central core of the enhancement of interaction where people connect with eachother not only physically, but also digitally.
CREATIVE CASCADE
The creative cascade is a highlight of the third floor. The space is harmonised with nature and tecnology. The light colour tones of the space, the greenery of the plant and the high-technology can stimulate the creativity within it. The collision of private space with the creative cascade blurring the condition of disengagement of people interaction.
INTERACTIVE CORRIDOR The undulating slabs which transform the space as a multidirectional space which can be seen as the space is the transition of other space while it can be seen as the space for exhibition or learning space. This is part of my agenda for the new type of “Not school” as tight in space but loose in function.
SOCIAL CASCADE The social cascade is located on the second floor to the fifth floor and used as a breakout space. It can be seen as a space for people connecting with their interests. A langugage of the performative space and creative space are also part of the social space.
