Reflection
This being my first studio I feel extremely priviliged and humbled by the learning we have have been given. The insight on the land that was stolen and the stories of the people who own it was truly incredible . Throughout these learnings I found myself drawn to the connection of sky land and sea country , a connection myself as a white man from an irish heritage hasnt been shown or taught. These rich ideas and stories of the people who own this land allowed me to produce something special and that I am extremely proud of. I wanted to create an experience that did justice to the many cultures . I first looked upon an art installment at the NGV by indigenous artist Yhonnie Scarse descendant of the Kokatha and Nukunu people of South Australia. She uses an ancient technique of blown glass to create and sculpt stories. I wanted to embraces this idea of the fragility and strength both being shown in a visual story and I believe I achieved it.
