Background
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of death world wide. Recurrent events and progression of CAD is associated with higher rates of morbidity and mortality . Risk of a second cardiovascular event is 5–7 times greater than the general population. (1)

Primary objective to study the prevalence of recurrent cardiac events and progression of disease in adult Saudi population diagnosed with CAD and being monitored in a secondary prevention clinic at King Abdul Aziz Medical City (KAMC) Riyadh. Secondary objective to identify patients with high risk for recurrent events
Method
Retrospective descriptive study which included all patients diagnosed with Ischemic Heart Disease with Ejection Fraction (EF) >40% and had at least one clinical follow up in 2012 after one year of 1st cardiac event. Patient’s data was extracted from computerized database between January 2001 and September 2012.

Results were expressed as count and proportion (%) for categorical variables and compared with Chi square testing. The overall prevalence of recurrent event and risk factor components were associated with 95% confidence interval.

Discussion Recurrent and progression of CAD occurred in 12.7% of patients which expected to be higher (25-35%) according to International prevalence of recurrent CAD event (5-7times ) with relation to prevalence of CAD in the Saudi population (5.5%)
