Passionate about kiteboarding, since day1. When I saw my friend Manu Bertin get off at Grosseto (IT) train station with a snowboard bag with "a new sport" inside, I felt curious like a child in front of a new game that was never played before. It was 1995, and at that time "flysurfing" as Manu baptized it, was all to be developed. Only designing a kite that could water start and not being a "flying raft" was a real mission. Today, after hundreds of prototype boards and kites of all kinds, passion and curiosity for trying something new remains the basis for my R&D team developing kiteboarding products. If there is no such an expression of mixed happiness and pride on the face of our testers after coming off the water during a final testing stage, a product is not approved for production. This is not because it might not be as good or better than our previous models. Simply because until there is a "Kidâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s smile" on the face of all those who make the final tests, that kite or board can not be considered a RRD production product. BLKRBN (Black Ribbon) Talking lightweight kitesurfboards towards a ridiculously light & strong level! The Black Ribbon technology is the first line of kitesurfboards in the world made with Aerospace technology! The internal EPS core, with only 15 kg density, is extra compact by the use of a special mold. This unique mold creates a perfectly sealed surface where the epoxy resin penetrates the layup at just the right amount, creating the perfect bond between each layer, but not too excessively that would simply add weight and no specific structural strength. For added reinforcements without significantly increasing weight, a 3 mm PVC foam layer is added on the deck to maximize impact resistance in addition to keeping the structure as light as possible while a full bamboo bottom sandwich layer creates the perfect blend between ding and dent strength on the bottom of the board. The entire structure is then fully covered with a complete layer of 160 grams Biaxial fibers combining a 45Â° mix between Carbon and Innegra fibers. The new Black Ribbon construction provides a lightweight and strong kiteboard while maintaining a significant amount of flex compared to a full carbon layer.

UC (United Cores of RRD) Maximizing lightweight does not only mean making a light board, but making a light board that LASTS. This is what we accomplished with the new UC construction; the updated & improved version of the LTD technology. The EPS core is re-known for lighter weight/strength ratio and memory compared to PU foam but it has one big limit, it absorbs water in case of a hole or a crack through the laminate. Fortunately, we have put together the best of the both worlds. In order to accomplish this feat, we have cut a 4 cms wide slice that runs throughout the entire outline of the board and have replaced the EPS external outline with 2 x PU outline slices that are glued to the EPS core. By adhering the PU to the EPS, we have created a 4 cms wide “waterproof” band that covers the entire rail, nose, and tail areas, keeping them totally waterproof in case of a crack through the laminate. The EPS core covers 80% of the board and creates a lively and buoyant center while the PU foam slices on the rails cover about 20% of the total foam volume. The PU rail slices combined with the deck and bottom carbon stringers laminated over the EPS core create a fantastic and unique pop and flex feel. The Carbon net of the previous LTD construction has been modified with the use of a stronger but more flexible net. This new net is made with Innergra fibers, crossed at 45°, and combined with unidirectional, red colored, polyester fibers that keep the maximum flex from nose to tail. To finish the board off, and to keep it looking amazing for a long time, it is laminated with premium UV resistant Epoxy Resin formulated with a 30% Biodegradable mix. The new United Cores of RRD (UC) construction will provide that lightweight, sharp, precise EPS feel with the added bonus of longevity and durability.

CLASSIC PU (The Real Surf Feeling) The Classic PU construction has been developed to create pure surfboards for pure wave riding and to allow control over choppy waters. We have improved the weight and strength of the boards this year. We are now using a hi-volume lightweight pigment in the resin. This type of resin fills up the holes in the foam and reduces the amount of resin content in the glass fibers, making the boards lighter. The Classic boards have low fiber memory and low foam memory at the same time. This low memory gives our boards a proper surfboard feel. We recommend the Classic PU technology to the riders who love a comfortable ride which this construction provides through its flexibility.

LTE (Built Tough, Lasts Long) The new LTE technology comes straight from the ultimate molded surfboards technology which consists of a high definition EPS core, made with a high definition “Super EPS“ mold, which is then injected with 36 Kgs/m3 density bits. This phenomenal core is so strong that you could ride it on the water without any lamination on it!! The core has heel recesses incorporated into the deck of the boards, thus creating the perfect placement for EVA heel shock absorbers to prevent heel dents. The RRD Ace 5’2” is a freeride, flatwater board, that is fast and planes early, designed to make the most out of the least favorable conditions. Have a blast on small, mushy surf with this new, radical, retro style shape. Need a board for light winds and mostly flat water but also shreds on waves? This is it! The wide outline and moderate volume allow this board to float you through the lulls or pump through a section to squeeze out an extra turn on that knee high monster. Compared to its predecessor, the Pop V2, the new and improved Ace 5’2” has a reduced thickness and thinner rails to really focus on increased maneuverability on the wave. THE VARIAL V1 BLKRBN-UC Our dedicated, pure freestyle strapless kitesurf shape. The brand new RRD Varial was born out of a necessity for a board that is suited for those dedicated to the strapless freestyle discipline. RRD is no stranger to the C.O.T.A.N. (cut off nose and tail) shape. And now with the Varial, will have one of the most bad-ass boards on the market. You can expect this board to be extremely light and thin, the thinnest in our range, with a very low profile. This razor sharp design enhances handling, control, and sets the foundation for the highest level strapless freestyle riding. Going huge on a strapless board? The channels running down the deck allow for that hands on approach to adding stylish grabs. Turn it over to realize that the bottom shape of this board is in a league of its own. The steep, deep, bottom channels running from tip to tail increase air and water flow underneath the Varial which not only improves the tracking capacity for an impressive amount of speed and control, but also increases it’s upwind ability, which is crucial during competitions! These aggressive channels also disperse the water when landing, while also driving the board forward, making stomping those tricks much easier and more consistently. The Varials’ construction provides an essential balance of strength and weight. The top level strapless riders need a board that is light enough to glue to the feet and also have the strength to withstand some hard and fast landings. Because this board is for the dedicated strapless rider, we dedicated it as a strapless board. No inserts will be found on the deck of the Varial. You may ride with only the rear pad and wax the deck for the pure strapless feel or with both the tail pad and the deck pad, the choice is yours, the board comes with the deck pad unglued. We also decided on the Thruster set up to improve sliding and control when landing or riding in reverse. C.O.T.A.N. V3 UC-CLASSIC-LTE The C.O.T.A.N. (cut off tail and nose) V3 has only undergone minor changes compared to the previous versions. For those who don’t know, the COTAN is a high performance board that carries less length and momentum in comparison with a traditional board shape. This shape allows you to feel exceptionally free and fast in everything you do. The reason this shape is magic is simple, it rips! The V3 has a newly redesigned tail shape with wingers and rounded fishtail ends. The reduction of area in the last section of the tail, behind the wingers, has allowed improved turning at high speeds, when riding waves, or when pushing to get the maximum pop out of your freestyle strapless sessions. The new Cotan is also slightly thinner, only in the tail area, to really boost the pop effect when jumping on flat water. BARRACUDA V3 UC-CLASSIC-LTE Designed, tested, and developed by Ralf Bachschuster, The Barracuda V3 was created to be used for strapped-in riding, but is also loved by many strapless riders. K4 X RRD Over the past year we have been able to thoroughly test K4’s new kite surfboard fin line with overwhelming results. Our team of pro riders have been impressed with the fins unique performance and robustness. They found that the flex that K4 is renowned for generated drive whilst still allowing full control in all conditions. As well as the performance our team also found the fins were tougher in the real world, day to day abuse, being stronger to impacts and less prone to scratching.

EDGE FINS V2 A new collection of surfboard and kitesurfboard fins is now available in four different sizes: S, M, ML, or L, both for thrusters and quad set ups. The Edge fins are designed with a thicker profile and built with a stiffer layup and technology than the RR pro model fins. These fins deliver a great amount of drive through a wide base design combined with the new construction. LTD (Carbon) Some of our high-end boards are available in the LTD construction. This construction consists of Biaxial Carbon layers on the top and bottom of the board and a CNC shaped core constructed from a special mix of Paulownia and lighter weight wood. These boards are 20% lighter, thinner, more responsive, which provides loads of pop and higher performance due to a higher memory of the Biaxial Carbon fibers. Our premium LTD boards are full of energy and provide the most dynamic ride.

JUICE (Wakestyle special layup) The Juice’s special wakestyle lamination is created to give the board maximum rigidity and stiffness. As in all our boards, we use a CNC shaped Paulownia wood core. We then laminate with two layers of unidirectional carbon stringer on the deck and on the bottom of the board. Flex is a crucial point when it comes to wakestyle boards, that’s why we added a special ‘X’ shaped carbon torsion box on the deck, to prevent any twists. On top of that, especially for boot users, we kept inserts instead of slider rails, and added a carbon biaxial insert reinforcement for those heavy landings. Ultimately, the grind base bottom sheet is what you need to make the board last for ever, even after many obstacle sessions.

RAD PAD V2 The new Rad Pad and strap system was designed to offer the maximum amount of comfort and adjustability, ensuring perfect balance on the board. It was built around an HT Nylon skeleton frame that is molded inside a DUO Density EVA core base. The core base guarantees the correct amount of stiffness, a secure hold, and a firm grip. Equipped with an adjusting system that allows micrometric accuracy in all directions and angles, it is possible to trim the straps position, angle, and size to any desired specifications. H-FLIGHT HYDROFOIL The RRD H-Flight freeride hydrofoil with 80cm mast and Aluminium fuselage is the perfect length to enjoy hydrofoil freeriding to its maximum without being afraid to hit sandbanks and/or coral reefs at low tide. We decided to go for an Aluminum fuselage because it proved to be stronger, lighter and it is more cost effective. To reduce the learning curve and to make Kitefoiling more accessible to everyone, we will still offer the two different additional mast lengths. These two optional masts, the 40cm “Take Off” and the 65cm “Touch & Go” together with the standard 80cm mast, make up the “RRD Aviation Academy Package” and are ideal for schools and/or beginners. AVIATION ACADEMY PACKAGE To reduce the learning curve and make Kitefoiling accessible to everyone, we also offer two different additional mast lengths to the standard mast as an optional ‘RRD Aviation Academy’ package for schools and beginners; the standard 90cm ‘Full Flight’ mast is included, and the optional 40cm ‘Take Off’ and/or 65cm ‘Touch & Go’ masts are available as spare parts. One of the most important things is having a wing and fuselage that allow the perfect balance in between your feet. This balance will provide a progressive entrance to foiling, not a difficult one. The front wing, fuselage, and rear wing, enable the foil to rise out of the water progressively, smoothly and at the right speed. This characteristic increases the stability of the foil and also allows it to easily go down wind, which is essential. Starting with a shorter mast length will also aid to the progressive entrance into kite foiling. Our really short, 40cm mast (‘TAKE-OFF’ level), is designed to develop the necessary skills to come out of the water, to get the feeling of a foil under your feet, and the way you position your body on to the board. The reaction to the foil is also exactly the same as the full height mast and will allow you to come out of the water, but not at an intimidating height. Once this stage is mastered, it is time to move to a new level, which is the 65 cm mast that allows more of a lift above the water. The 65cm mast (‘TOUCH & GO’ level) provides the full foil feel for the first time without being too intimidating. This stage of the progression process can last anywhere from days to weeks, depending on your personal skills and available time. Once comfortable with the foil in many different conditions without issues, it is time to progress to the full length 80cm mast.

DOLPHIN 1 The Dolphin1 is a full composite board with a wood deck and bottom, it has PVC reinforcement under the heel area and a special shaped full concave deck. It allows your feet to be completely pointed down towards the nose and the middle part of the board; a correct foot and leg position is what you want to have when you foil. The rails have a special pronounced tucked under edge bevel which reduces impact when you come down from height. When we first shaped the Dolphin kitefoil board a little over a year ago, we never imagined that today this same board could be used as a surffoil. The design, the volume, and the concave deck, paired with the slow lift of the SH Flight foil, make this combo ideal for flying above the ocean, for light wind kitefoiling, and even freestyling for riders of all levels. RELIGION MK9 The first thing that comes to mind when this kite is mentioned is SURF. As the first kite manufacturer to make a kitesurf specific kite, RRD knows a thing or two about wave kites. There are not many kites out there that can drift like the new Religion MK9, allowing you to ride the wave instead of being pulled by your kite. The new Religion MK9 is the epitome of the perfect kitesurfing kite. The MK9 has undergone only minute changes compared to our most successful wave kite, the Religion MK8. The large sizes, 9m up to 12m, remain virtually the same while the smaller sizes, 8m down to 4m, have a revised leading edge and again the addition of a pulley. These changes on the smaller sizes allow the kite to self regulate in stronger conditions, which makes you hold on comfortable in stronger winds. Next to that it increases the wind range, and provides more hang time for those who still like to send it! If speed is what you need, the MK9 is our fastest version yet! This significant boost in speed and performance position this kite into a more specific and focused wave catching machine. Unlike most fast turning surf kites on the market, the Religion MK9 still maintains that signature pull and power which helps to get in a few extra turns down the line. With a new deep and long leading edge in the small sizes, the Religion MK9 now has more range and control in strong, gusty winds, more depower, and has also increased the kites upwind ability. The new shape not only improves the speed and reaction time but also allows you to kill the harness pressure when bottom turning and lining up for a big vertical turn on the wave or for more control during your strapless freestyle maneuvers. An additional, notable feature added to the new MK9, per the request of our top performers in the strapless freestyle kitesurfing discipline, is the front line trim settings that can be found on the bridle. We have added a wave setting and a freestyle wave setting. The freestyle wave setting pulls less on the harness, has a more direct bar feeling, de-powers the kite more when needed, and forces the kite to fly more towards the edge of the window which creates more lift! In correspondence of each strut and its connection point onto the leading edge, we have created a specific 45° crossed fibers double ripstop reinforcement that spreads the load of the strut onto the body of the kite during hard crashes, drastically reducing the potential canopy breakage of the kite.

Multiple points of connection provide a multitude of adjustments to the flying characteristics of the kite such as depower, bar pressure, turning speed, and turning radius. These changes affect jumping, kite loops, slack, drift, and water relaunch.

A small batten that connects from the trailing edge to the leading edge that prevents the bridles from wrapping around the wingtip during launching or water relaunching. It also allows for storage of the bridles when packing the equipment after a session.

TECHNO FORCEâ&#x201E;˘ DOUBLE RIPSTOP:

UV RESISTANT PU STRUT HOSE AND FITTINGS:

Techno Forceâ&#x201E;˘ is a high density fabric with a tear stopping structure that is constructed with a high tensioning double polyester yarn. This material does not only add to the strength and longevity of our kites, but it also improves the stability and the flying characteristics without adding weight.

We use UV resistant PU strut hoses and fittings on the entire range of kites. This material has been tested against four years of sun and salt to ensure that it is durable and will increase the longevity of our equipment.

RADIAL REINFORCEMENTS:

Radial Canopy reinforcements around the trailing edge of the kite, are positioned in a way that intersects the Techno Force Double Ripstop. This not only increases strength and durability on sensitive areas but also compliments the torsion placed on the kite, thus improving the overall flying characteristics.

We have an elastic rope connected to the pigtails of the backlines that stretches up to around 20cm, this makes sure that your backlines are always slightly under tension when you depower the kite due to the slight delay it creates. This feature makes you able to always feel where the kite is and prevents the kite from frontstalling when you suddenly let go of the bar.

EXTRA STRUT REINFORCEMENTS:

All struts are reinforced with Kevlar stitched to the ends which reduce abrasion and the new design also prevents sand from getting into the kite. The middle strut includes Kevlar and an additional layer of Dacron because it suffers the most on impacts.

A singular point, one way, air flow valve, inflation and deflation system with a special moulded protection cap.This new valve has a smaller diameter and pliable base that allows the perfect leading edge shape and adds to the lifespan of the kite.

Additional reinforcements on all scuff points strengthened with branded, EVA reinforcements to extend the life and durability of the kite. This EVA is then encased in Insignia secured by a double stitch that adds to the durability of high stress points.

Every panel of any inflatable structure, from the struts to the leading edge, is built with a special heavy duty stitching system. The stitching areas are internally reinforced with a strip of adhesive dacron (Insignia), creating a solid base for durability. Kevlar is then wrapped around every exposed LE Seam to provide further protection.

One pump hose clamps that prevent unwanted airflow between struts and leading edge. Each clamp is covered with neoprene to prevent wear and damage to the kite.

Our bold graphics are designed with CNC laser cut panels made with canopy fabric firstly glued and then triplestitched together. This way we can avoid massive screen printining on the kite, reducing its deteriorating effect and making each graphic panel effectively a reinforcement on the kite body itself. An RRD exclusive design feature now copied by some other kite brands.

Our double chamber protection tube for de-power rope and safety line is made of high quality indestructible polyurethane which makes the bar slide easy and you will never have to replace it.

Test Winning aluminum bar tube with an outside diameter of 23 mm (with grip). A narrow diameter means less fatigue on your arms and better grip when you really need it. Standard bars from other brands are all average around 26 mms.

PROGRAM:

RIGID THREAD LINES In addition to the new features, the ‘RRD Global Bar V8’ is still equipped with special lines called "RIGID THREAD LINES". These are used exclusively on the RRD bars with great success for over 7 years. A product that’s now widely tested around the world, but there is little known about the details by kiteboarders.

All our lines are produced and developed in Italy, with a worldwide patent granted only to RRD. The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ are the result of the collaboration with an Italian manufacturing company that has more than fifty years of experience in the processing of lines and ropes, using the most recent and innovative exotic fibers, combined with an intimate knowledge of the physical and mechanical properties of Dyneema.

WHY ARE THE ‘RIGID THREAD LINES’ DIFFERENT?

The difference of our lines is that conventional Dyneema braided lines also have excellent breaking resistance characteristics, but can’t keep their original length when under tension. This is due to their entirely braided structure that sees the fibers being crossed over each other with an angle of approximately 30° compared to the load angle (0°). Once a conventional braided line is under tension its fibers will tend to align towards the load line and progressively start to stretch. A conventional braided line will stretch up to 10% of their original length when under load. (so a 25 meter line can stretch up to 25 cms) Imagine by comparison the ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ like a widely used electric cable. Core copper wires are covered with a plastic protection sock. In the ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ copper is replaced by unidirectional Dyneema pre-tensioned fibers instead of braided fibers, covered (like the plastic part on the electric cable) with a very thin braided Dyneema sock to keep the internal non-braided unidirectional fibers in place and protecting them from abrasion. This allows to create an absolutely direct connection between the bar and the kite, since what connects them together is an unidirectional non braided fiber core. For this reason our exclusive ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ have a maximum stretch of 0,1% (so a 25 meter line can stretch up to max. 2,5 cms). The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ of RRD Kites will never be subject to adjustment, since they won’t even stretch under stress-related moves, for example by extreme loops or other radical manoeuvers, and consequently it is impossible to end up with stretched lines and/or of a different length and therefore the trim of the kite remains unchanged through the years. The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ will always be visually, technically and feeling compact and rigid throughout the course of their lives, maintaining all its physical and technical characteristics unaltered over the time. The standard braided kite line has more stretch, which results in different line lengths, power absorption and reduction of performance, especially at the moment where you change the direction of the kite, where the load of the lines reaches its peaks.

EXTREMELY COMPACTED DYNEEMA BRAIDED SOCK DYNEEMA UNI-DIRECTIONAL FIBERS

Another weakness of the standard braided line that ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ have turned into a strength are unchanged compactness of the line. Any new conventional line, has a rigid and compact character because of the resin (generally polyurethane-based) that encompasses it. This resin has a very short life and after only a few sessions, the touch of the product is softer. This translates into a series of annoying consequences such as: • The softened lines are more subject to unwanted knots. • The protection of the line is reduced after each session. • The braid tends to open and it becomes more fragile, allowing the entry of water which will create small salt crystals inside in case you kite in salt water, which can impair the bearing structure of the line.

WHY ARE RRD KITE LINES INNOVATIVE? Unlike standard braided lines, the unidirectional structure of ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ provides a fiber memory that is significantly more efficient. A standard braided line under stress combines all 'dynamic elongation’ of the fiber and flattening of the braid, whereas the core unidirectional structure uses exclusively the elastic modules of the fiber.

HP1 PUMP The new HP1 pump is a multiple inflating system pump that can act in two modes: Mode 1 or HIGH CAPACITY mode, or double action mode of 2,3 +2,3 LTS where you can inflate your kite from 0 up to 8 PSI of pressure. Mode 2 of HIGH PRESSURE mode or single action mode of 2,3 LTS, where you can pump up to 13 PSI of pressure. ( maximum inflating pressure on your kite should be 8 PSI). The mode 2 is recommended only for kids or lightweight girls in order to help inflating their kite up to 8 PSI of pressure requiring less power on their arms. A new color coded pressure gauge simplifies the pressure reading and helps inflating your kite correctly. The new softer plastic hi tenacity corrugated inflating tube helps storage inside the kite bag without folding and breaking and has a longer lifetime compared to standard tubes in the market.
