Mending

Mending: to make (something broken, worn, torn, or otherwise damaged)
whole, sound, or usable by repairing.
There are multiple meanings that can define the word mending. Our interest lies in the ability to mend memories, physical objects, and cultures in the face of globalization.

Interview
I think the current trend is that people are moving away from fast fashion and I think that your project demonstrates that. You created a nurturing event, it nurtures your personal well—being and it enhances connection with people. Pascale Gatzen Strategic Design Studies Professor and board member of Interdisplinary Design Program at Parsons the New School for Design
What if we would live in a society where from a young age we learn to follow our playful instincts, because playing is very closely connected to learning, and you see that with young children; but as soon as we enter school systems we enter into these rigid structures in which we very passively learn information. You need to nuture the good part of the experience on Saturday and bring that forward, you cannot just be okay with what our habits are in the moment. You are the future, you cannot give up on your own generation.

Continuing the Philosophy

By formulating events such as workshops and classes, we hope to craft a community base. Our goal is to instill in the youth that fixing has a lasting positive impact that juxtaposes today’s current issue of disposable consumption.
