What I think about this brand and what I changed

Book Depository is a UK-based online book seller with a large catalogue offered with free shipping to over 160 countries. The company was founded in 2004 by Andrew Crawford and current Chief Operating Officer Stuart Felton; its motto is to make "All Books Available to All". On 4 July 2011, Amazon reached an agreement to acquire Book Depository. Book Depository offers over 12 million titles, at relatively low prices with free delivery worldwide to over 100 countries. The website style of Book Depository is quite clear, concise and readable, which make it easier for customers to find books they want. The main color of Book Depository website is blue-violet that looks quite formal and cold, the only two warm colors (orange & pink) are used to highlight “free delivery worldwide and percentage of price reduction.

The structure of Book Depository website is clean and readable. The weakness of this structure is customers cannot find specific classifications or books they look for straightly. The website has a lack of pictures and relative description of books, also has no pre-view and physical photo of books. In current product page, it has too many words to read per description line, which need to be re-managed typesetting and whole structures.

I changed the main colors into blue and yellow but did not use them currently same, such as the color of title is ocean blue and some words are dark blue (very close to black but they are blue).

As for structure, I made it became more compact and easy to read. Thanksfully they works pretty well.

I want to redesign the logo and website of Book Depository and make this brand be stylish and dynamic without lose too many original style. Add more pictures and warm colors to this brand will be helpful, more product recommendations and advertisements or boost sales announcements can also increase sales. My brand market position will put more weight on young people who increases the trend for shopping online but still give consideration to other consumer groups. Consider about the background and capacity of Book Depository, I picked three words for concept: ocean, sky, natural. Ocean can be visualized as waves, combined with "worldwide", its color will be a deep dark blue. Sky is another part of "worldwide", which can be hardly described with some physical things, so I change "sky" into "star" which can also make sense commendably. Natural means land, brown is the first color I considered but might makes the whole tone get into darker, then I choose worldly yellow instead of brown. I also picked three words to express the phenomenon of this brand: clean, a little bit formal but still distinctive. I will combine the whole ideas and balance them in later works, hopefully they will show a brilliant visual effect.

By the way, I changed the background color of the website into stone's color. It makes the whole phenomenon get into warm and comfortable.
