Ashleysaid:“Wearecommittedtoadvancingearly diagnosisandnewtreatmentavailabilityintheUK,while atthesametimesupportingchildrenfightingcancerby helpingthemaccesstreatmentnotcoveredbythe NHS.Wewanttochangeasystemthatconsiders childhoodcancertoberare,andasaresult,hasbeen underfundingchildhoodcancerfortoolong.Forunder 15-year-olds,therearefivenewcasesdiagnosedeveryday, andfourdeathsaweek.Thatdoesnotfeelrare,nottous,
nottothefamiliesimpacted,andnottothe communitiesaroundthem.Yetchildhoodcancer receiveslessthanthreepercentofcancerfunding becauseinstitutionally,itisstillconsideredtoberare.”
