Firstup,theintriguingnamehasnothingtodo withthefoodandisthenicknameofoneofAndy andPranee’schildren.Nowgrown-up,theynodoubt shunthemoniker,GigglingSquid.Thedécoris girlieandpretty–lotsoffauxbloomsandpastelsand abitdifferenttoyouraverageThairestaurant–somethingPraneewantedtoachieve.
Themenuisheftyandintheinterestoftryingas manydishesaspossible–notbecausewe’regreedy butforyourbenefit,youunderstand–wechosea seriesofsmallplates.Wewereinforaquicklunch andthesmallplatessuitedthat.Allthedishesarrived atthesametimeandfairlypromptly.

Whenitcomestotheworldofwine,fewregionscan matchtheprestigeandallureofBordeauxand Burgundy.SituatedintheheartofFrance,thesetwo regionshavelongbeenreveredforproducingsomeofthefinest (andmostexpensive!)winesintheworld.WhilebothBordeaux andBurgundyboastcenturiesofwinemakingtradition,theyeach offerauniquesetofcharacteristicsthatsetthemapart.

NestledalongthebanksoftheGaronneRiverinsouth-western France,Bordeauxisrenownedforitselegantandcomplexwines. Theregionisdividedintoseveralsub-regions,eachwithitsown distinctterroirandwinemakingtraditions.Bordeauxisbest knownforitsredblends,whicharetypicallymadefroma combinationofCabernetSauvignon,Merlot,andCabernetFranc grapesaswellassmallquantitiesofPetitVerdotandMalbec.
