EDITOR’S LETTER
Being born and raised in Colorado, I found my love for the Rockies in a state that holds so many beautiful places. Through the years, I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many of the other states across the Rockies and have found a certain charm to all of them. Something about the fresh air blowing through the evergreens, or the sand blowing across the Southwest deserts, and the aqua blue lakes in the north, I couldn’t think of a better place to say “I do!” than the Rockies.

STUNNING, EMOTIONAL, AND REAL MEMORIES You should be able to look back in 60 years and remember exactly how you felt on your wedding day. You've found your person – why jeopardize your memory of this day? Too often, couples regret getting a photographer that only took pretty pictures that didn’t show emotion and robbed them of the moment. They didn’t think about their legacy. I want to give you something better. A mixture of magazine worthy images that actually tell your story to keep your love strong for the rest of your life. You don’t deserve anything less.

BOISE 101 RMB’s advice for a perfect destination Boise wedding. Plan ahead and make a memorable wedding adventure for you and your guests to enjoy.
emily hanson photography
S E A S O N A L W E AT H E R As the largest city in Idaho and surrounded by rolling foothills, Boise shines as an ideal wedding location. From June to August, the weather is warm and sunny, making it the most popular time of the year to tie the knot in the City of Trees. If you are looking for that warm weather vibe and plenty of rays, July might be your best bet with average temps in the low 90s. On the other hand, if you are wanting a cozy and cool ambiance on your day, look to January when the city is often blanketed with snow. For a more moody day, check out November. While there is a chance of rain, storm clouds instantly add a dramatic feel, and they say rain on your wedding day is good luck, right? We love that Amy & Wyatt didn’t let rain stop their perfect wedding day!

W H AT T O P A C K Guiding guests on what to pack for your wedding can help a lot with their decisions. Feel free to add your wedding attire, whether it be cocktail casual or black-tie optional, to your wedding website. Here is also a great place to add little tidbits too, such as packing a shawl for the cooler months or sunglasses if you are having an outdoor summer ceremony.
ACTIVITIES Explore the downtown Boise and 8th Street district. This area was named one of the coolest hipster spots in the nation and for good reason. The walkable area is filled with local restaurants and boutiques featuring goods made by the state’s local artisans. Pop into Fancy Pants and Banana Ink for cute clothes before grabbing a bite to eat at Fork, which is a local favorite! Stretch your legs and go for a leisurely walk in Camel’s Back Park, nestled in the northern part of the city. This urban park features open space for a variety of activities including volleyball and tennis. To get your heart pumping, venture into the city’s vast network of trails leading into the foothills. The interconnected system offers more than 190 miles of trails from easy to more advanced hikes. Spring through fall, the city comes alive with a plethora of farmers markets. The Boise Farmers Market, located in Midtown, offers fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables along with locally-raised proteins, breads and pastries, jams and honey, and even ready-to-eat foods. Another fantastic market to check out is the Capital City Public Market in downtown that connects the community with growers, producers and artisans.

Make it official In the state of Idaho, you can get your marriage license at any county clerk’s office. Your partner and you must both be in attendance with proper identification. You will be asked multiple questions while you are there such as when and where are you getting married as Idaho marriage licenses apply only to ceremonies performed in Idaho, and it will cost $30. The state of Idaho does not require you to be a resident, have a blood test or have witnesses. You have to return your license within a year of signing.

Natalie + Ian p r i vat e r e s i d e n c e
Natalie and Ian met at work and were just friends for a few years before realizing there was more to their friendship. After six years of dating and adventuring, Natalie and Ian set off for their third trip to Iceland together. During their vacation, the pair went to explore a glacial lagoon near Iceland’s iconic Diamond Beach, which shines with large glistening icebergs that resemble glass sculptures along the black sand shores. There in the most stunning setting, Ian proposed and Natalie, of course, said, “Yes!” Natalie and Ian planned a boho backyard wedding for September 14th.

Amy + Wyatt bogus basin
Amy and Wyatt met at Summer Camp in 2010. They would sneak away from their groups so they could have breakfast together and talk. After that summer, they tried to stay in touch by writing letters to each other but they were young and lived in different cities. They eventually reconnected in 2017 and picked up where they left off. They did long distance for awhile when Amy relocated to Boise and Wyatt eventually joined her one year later. The couple planned their initmate woodsy elopement for June 6th and included their dog, Calvin.

SWEET SURPRISES
“Wyatt planned our first camping trip together for a weekend in Stanley, Idaho. I complained all week to my girlfriends that we were going on a 10 mile hike, not knowing it would end with a ring on my finger. We reached the top of Sawtooth Lake and found the perfect spot to hang our hammock and relax. I was just getting ready to sit down when I saw Wyatt pull a small box out of our backpack. It was a moment I will never forget. My best friend on one knee, overlooking the most beautiful mountain lake. My feet had blisters and I was exhausted but the high from the proposal had me smiling the entire hike down.”

Brekka + Thomas dierkes lake
engagement
Brekka and Thomas met through a dating app, and while their first date was a bit rocky, Brekka was won over by his humor and kindness. Nine months later, Thomas recreated the couple’s first date at a nearby park where the couple would come with Brekka’s daughters. Thomas arranged to have two dozen roses along with pictures of the couple and Pizza Hut pizzas in their special spot. Right there, he proposed to Brekka and presented her with a ring he spent two weeks making, before asking Brekka’s daughters’ permission and giving them small bands he had also made!

Courtyard Nuptials
Playing off the romantic and intimate setting, Ashlyn from Wild Bliss + Co along with Denise of Denise + Bryan Photography created an enchanting setting for these courtyard nuptials at The Cottage at Riverbend. Wind your way through the forest of spruce, elm and maple trees to the courtyard in the back of the Spanish Revival house. The hidden space provides an ideal location to tie the knot surrounded by your closest family and friends!

Nestled under towering trees, the Cottage at Riverbend inspired Ashlyn and Denise to plan this styled shoot with the magical elegance of the Cottage. This intimate setting was brought to life by the most picturesque places on the property. The copper and wood arch from Rustique Rentals & Event Design adds a pop of bright color on this otherwise naturally colored venue. This team of vendors utilized the unique blend of indoor, outdoor, rustic and glamour that makes this venue a sanctuary.

Q & A with
introducing
Ivory and Sage By: Erin Mitschele What is your favorite part of the job? Besides meeting amazing humans from all walks of life, my passion lies within design! I LOVE coming up with design board concepts that represent the Bride & Groom as a couple.
Do you have a favorite took of the trade? Aisle Planner is my best friend! And it often becomes my brides’ best friend too. Organization is KEY to running smooth events and this platform does it all!
Where do you come up with your ideas? I love buildings and envisioning the layout of an event in the space! When buildings have unique architecture to play off of, even better! I also try to incorporate some representation of the couple in the design concepts. Making each wedding one of a kind is always my goal!
What is one thing you wish you could educate your clients on? Not so much my clients because at that point they’ve already hired me, but to newly engaged couples I wish I could educate them on the value of hiring a coordinator! Oftentimes we’re viewed as a “luxury vendor” and might be one of the first costs cut. That’s one of the biggest mistakes! Talk to couples who hired a planner, I promise you they’ll say it was one of the best wedding decisions they made, financially & emotionally!
What trend do you wish would disappear? I wouldn’t say this is trending but I still see people do it… chair covers. You know what I mean, the chairs that look like 100 ghosts in the room. This look needs to DIE people! In my opinion, chairs can make or break the look of your wedding, don’t break it with “ghost chairs”.
What is your idea of perfect happiness? Living on a cat farm…. Just kidding but I am a crazy cat lady! I grew up a water baby and am always happiest when on the lake. My perfect day is boating and swimming with friends and family. Then ending the night with a bonfire and bottle of wine!
What is your biggest indulgence? Clothes, I LOVE clothes. I don’t buy expensive because I like to always have new outfits but I buy a lot! Not just clothes, accessories too; hats, earrings, shoes, belts, rings, you name it!

What is the last concert you’ve been to? Luke Combs, I am a country girl at heart!
What do you do in the “off” season? I’ve come to learn there isn’t such a thing as an “off” season! Come late fall when the weddings are mostly over for the year, majority of couples have already booked for the following year and I’m busy creating design boards and booking their vendors! However, on my slower days I take the time and focus on social media & workflows. To me this means updating Pinterest, revamping the website, taking webinars on the work platforms I use, etc. I also like to take this time to connect with vendors and get to know our local industry more!
