Being born and raised in Colorado, I found my love for the Rockies in a state that holds so many beautiful places. Through the years, I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many of the other states across the Rockies and have found a certain charm to all of them. Something about the fresh air blowing through the evergreens, or the sand blowing across the Southwest deserts, and the aqua blue lakes in the north, I couldn’t think of a better place to say “I do!” than the Rockies. As I begin to plan my own Rocky Mountain wedding using RMB, I find myself in awe of the talented local vendors in each pocket of the Rocky Mountain region. I hope that within these pages you will find all the inspiration and tips you need to make your day everything you want it to be. We’ve scouted the best of the best in your area to provide you trusted local vendors. Happy planning!

BOULDER 101 Advice for a perfect destination Boulder wedding including local weather, what to pack and activites.
sarah joy photo
S E A S O N A L W E AT H E R With 300 days of sunshine a year, Boulder shines as an ideal wedding location all year round. From May to August, the weather is warm and sunny, making it the most popular time of the year to tie the knot. If you are looking for that warm weather vibe and plenty of rays, July might be your best bet with average temps in the 80s. On the other hand, if you are wanting a cozy and cool ambiance to your day, look to January when the city is often blanketed with snow. For a more moody day, check out May. Like all of Colorado, the weather can change in the blink of an eye. Planning ahead can make all of the difference for your guests and you. While there is a high chance of rain, storm clouds instantly add a dramatic feel, and they say rain on your wedding day is good luck, right?

W H AT T O P A C K Guiding guests on what to pack for your wedding can take a lot of the guesswork out of their decision. Feel free to add your wedding attire, whether it be cocktail casual or black-tie optional, to your wedding website. Here is also a great place to add little tidbits too, such as packing a shawl for the cooler months or sunglasses if you are having an outdoor summer ceremony.
ACTIVITIES Located in Boulder’s more than 45,000 acres of protected open spaces and parks, take a hike at Chautauqua Park featuring the city’s most stunning feature, the Flatirons. There are plenty of trails that start here and vary in length and difficulty, including the easy Flatiron Loop Trail and more strenuous Royal Arch Trail. For some shopping and people watching, check out Boulder’s famous Pearl Street Mall, a four-block pedestrian mall. Pop into Cedar & Hyde for unique finds from new and reclaimed sources, or grab a bite of sushi and Japanese whiskey cocktail at Japango. Head to the University of Colorado and catch a football game at Folsom Field to cheer on the Buffs! The university is central to the core of the city, and residents take a lot of pride in the CU Buffs.

Shelby + Andy LY O N S F A R M E T T E
While volunteering at Red Rocks Church’s youth program, Andy met Shelby, and there was an instant connection. Two years later, the pair set off on a hike in Crested Butte. Among the stunning scenery, Andy asked Shelby to marry him, and she happily said, “Yes!” The pair planned a relaxed boho wedding for August 11. Andy and Shelby’s wedding was a family affair with Andy’s dad as the officiant, Shelby’s siblings singing as she walked down the aisle, and the pair’s dads and uncles prayed over them during the ceremony.

GYPSY INSPIRED
Shelby looked stunning in a Gypsy-inspired gown with a plunging neckline, halter straps and abstract floral lace pattern paired with her bridesmaids in mismatched dresses in earth-toned shades of sage, champagne and sky blue. Andy insisted on seeing Shelby for the first time when she walked down the aisle, so before the ceremony the couple got back to back and prayed together, which ended up being one of their favorite moments of the day!

After getting engaged in San Francisco, Mary and Nick decided to forgo a big wedding and elope just two months later! Their love of adventure and the mountains combined for the perfect intimate elopement with just their dogs as the witnesses. Summers in the Colorado Rockies can bring unpredictable weather, but the couple didn’t expect to encounter all four seasons on their wedding day. Despite the snow-packed trial, rain and even hail, Mary and Nick savored the special moments as newly minted Mr. and Mrs.! After their vows, a few family members met them at the trailhead for ice cream cake and champagne to toast to their new journey together.

THE PROPOSAL During a springtime hike in Boulder, Mike pretended to hurt his hand in order to distract Moriah by handing off their dog. As Moriah and the pup continued down the trail, Mike scoped out the perfect spot to set up his camera for the proposal. Once everything was set, Mike suggested a stop for water, but instead of a drink, he pulled out a ring, dropped to one knee and proposed!

Q & A with
The Flagstaff House By: Erin Mitschele What is your favorite part of the job? I have so many favorite aspects of my job but my overall favorite is being present on the day of an event after so much time spent planning. To see months (or years) of aligning all the little details come to life is the absolute best reward! To see it in a wedding couples eyes is even better.
What is your favorite tool of the trade? It sounds so simple, but the calendar in my phone is my favorite tool. Organization is critical to planning and I can keep all of my appointments, event dates and notes in one place that all sync together on all of my devices. It truly is the most useful assistant I have.
What Trend do you wish would disappear? The classic guest book. I feel that a traditional guest book takes up space in a couple’s home and isn’t something remarkable to look back on years later. I encourage creative ways to remember your wedding day such as instant photos.

What is your best hidden talent? My hidden talent (to most people) is skiing. I competed on national/ international alpine race circuits during my youth in Vermont; now those skills have carried into my current ski path which is all about fun!
What is your biggest indulgence? My biggest indulgence is dining out. I love more than anything to try a new restaurant or to visit a favorite with close friends. I go out to eat more than I probably should but it is one of my favorite things to do!
If you could have one, what would be your super power? If I could have a super power it would be the ability to teleport. Morning coffee in Italy? Sure. Visit my mom for lunch on the East Coast? Yes.
My astrological sign is Virgo and I am 100% that girl. I use my sign as a power as it keeps me super organized and connected to my clients.
