Makenzie + Tracy h u c k l e b e r ry m o u n ta i n
Makenzie and Tracy met while bartending at an upscale restaurant in Dallas. They dated for seven years before Tracy proposed. Makenzie manages a wedding venue in Dallas, and her boss told her that they were being honored for their charity contributions. The entire venue staff got all dolled up, hair and makeup done, and met at the venue so they could ride together. Little did she know, it was a party to celebrate her engagement! When they arrived at the venue, Tracy took Makenzie onto the balcony before she knew what was going on, proposed, then surprised me with all of their family downstairs! The couple planned an intimate ceremony with 30 of their closest friends and family in Coeur d’Alene at Huckleberry Mountain. Their neutral and bohemian summer ceremony had a unity mimosa ceremony, combining champagne (Makenzie, bubbly) and orange juice (Tracy, cool and calm).

Kelsey + Matt archwood hall
Kelsey and Matt met in college, dated long distance for two years and got married on Valentine’s Day during the pandemic. Eight months before their wedding, Matt proposed in Bend, Oregon at sunset. Kelsey was so surprised! It was simple and perfect. Planning a wedding during a pandemic was hard. Lots of changed plans, and a lot out of their control, but somehow everything worked out in ways Kelsey and Matt couldn’t have imagined. They had to change venues two months before their wedding day, uninvite guests and throw things together last minute. Their wedding day turned out beautiful and they wouldn’t have changed a thing!

Heidi Wight Ira + Lucy Idaho Wedding Planner www.iraandlucy.com @iraandlucy
What is your favorite part of the job? My favorite part of my work is the transformative process from concept to the client reveal. It is incredibly rewarding to build a relationship with clients, usually a year or so, with highs and lows and challenges and getting to the wedding day and revealing the space that I have had built in my mind and finally get to bring it to tangible life for them. It requires trust and patience, grit and a hell of a lot of work and it’s incredibly rewarding to end with a remarkable and memorable wedding.

Do you have a favorite tool of the trade? Absolutely! Of course there are software tools and day-of tools, but my favorite has to be my relationship with fine linen companies. I adore textiles and how they can completely change the mood of a space and they are often overlooked as a key detail.

What is your best hidden talent? Ha! I love gaming! I am very competitive and with the stress of work, gaming allows me to occasionally check out and have fun playing games. My son loves this about me and we have a blast playing together.

Which occupation would you like to try for a day? Hands down, Celine Dion’s brand manager. What is your favorite wedding season? Fall - I love the warm sunny days, but crisper nights and the sun sets sooner which allows for more of that dreamy candle glow. Event design very much involves light control and how we play with light.
