Denver is a city escape amongst towering mountains and lush forests. Some of my favorite memories in Denver include grabbing drinks on rooftop bars, watching the fireworks in Coors Field and seeing the sights at Union Station. There’s a reason Denver stands out as a wedding destination for so many people.

Pia is CEO of her own company called Curate Well Co and Kenny is a quantum physicist. She’s been focusing on growing her community driven business consulting platform for the past couple years and Kenny has been along for the ride helping every step of the way! They got engaged in Santa Barbara, where they met at UCSB, lived in Denver for a few years and just moved back to Santa Barbara.

They were wanting engagement photos that felt like art. They wanted fun photos that felt cool and contemporary, which is very reflective of their modern and simplistic style. Just their outfit choices alone showed their chic style so perfectly. Pia was in white and Kenny was in all black. She’s the creative in the relationship and he’s the analytical one. They’re opposite in so many ways, but together a perfect match.

LOCAL WEDDING INSPIRATION

Hannnah + Jeff

It was February 13, 2014, in New York City at a bar called Hair of The Dog. After arriving that night, the bar full of people, Hannah decided it was time to show off her moves. With no one interested in dancing with her, she started tearing it up solo. Seconds later, she locked eyes with a man across the bar. It was as if they already knew each other, and there was no one else in the room. All of the sudden, he went straight up to her without a word, and joined her on the dance floor. Later that night, after many dances, stories, laughs and games, it was time to depart each other. They shared numbers and he said he would be in touch. Jeff waited three days to get in touch, and finally, when he did, they decided to meet the next day. After a girl’s brunch uptown, Hannah and her friends decided that the only plausible thing to do that afternoon was to go back to Hair of The Dog. An hour later as Hannah and her friends set up shop on one side of the bar, she texted Jeff to alert him where she was. After explaining that she was back at Hair of The Dog, his response was not what she expected. He was already there, on the other side of the bar! It was at this moment they both realized how serendipitous it was to be back 4 days later at the same bar, out of the million bars and restaurants in the city, when neither of them even lived in Manhattan, at the same exact time. It was then they knew that life had a plan for them, and they were meant to be together. Hannah and Jeff dated for five years before they got engaged and began planning their fall wedding.

Their wedding day at the Barn at Raccoon Creek was romantic, warm, exhilarating, energetic and so full of love. Their ceremony included special words shared by family, and they celebrated during their reception with delicious food and hours of dancing. Their night ended in a flurry of sparklers! It was a magnificent and exciting way to seal their marriage and end the best night of their lives.

Patrice + Aaron

Aaron and Patrice met online while living in Hoboken, New Jersey, and quickly came to realize that they lived 500 feet away from each other. They went on their first date, and the rest was history. They dated for four years when Aaron proposed on a trip to Crested Butte for a weekend in June. They decided to hike a shorter trail, and were about halfway through the hike, when they hit waist deep snow. The skies started to darken and rain started to fall, so they picked up the pace. The weather worsened to the point where they needed to run to safety. As soon as they made it down the mountain, the rain slowed and the skies cleared to reveal bluebird skies. They set up their phones for a self-time photo opp, and that was when Aaron perfectly timed getting down on one knee.

They planned a modern, industrial wedding at blanc in Denver. Patrice works at a creative agency, so planning the wedding was another day in the life of making magic happen! Their first look and exchanging personal vows in front of their friends and family made such lasting, genuine memories.

Blair + Connor

Blair and Connor met at a church retreat in the mountains when neither one of them were looking for something serious in a relationship, but after their first date, they were inseparable. While Connor is more extroverted and Blair is more introverted, Connor thought that having an intimate proposal would be extra special to Blair. He had set up a room full of flowers and put a blanket on the floor with a photo of them next to it. When she walked in, he proposed. It was just the two of them, which was very special!

They planned an elegant late-summer wedding at Bonnie Blue’s in Elizabeth, Colorado. Their wedding day was filled with ups and downs: a payback prank pulled during the ceremony by Connor’s brother, dancing in the rain with friends and family, and a sentimental speech made by Blair’s dad. They celebrated the start of their forever in the most perfect way!

Planner, Candace Elaine Events and photographer, Caitlin Hamilton Photography dreamt up the idea of bringing the colors, textures and culture of the oceanside Italian town of Positano to the Rocky Mountains. With the idea of transporting guests to the Amalfi Coast, they created a welcoming atmosphere through the tablescape and elements of this wedding design.

Details like lemon place cards and individual Veuve Clicquot Bottles invite guests to take a seat, pop champagne, and engage with one another. Gold accents and dusty blue gold adorned menus add the perfect touch of elegance to the tablescape. The lemon-filled flowers by Blush and Bay and tangy lemon desserts by Ruby Jean Patisserie explode with bright colors and flavor.

Garden Party Anniversary

Held on a late summer day in August, Banks & Leaf planned an adorable 50th wedding anniversary at the Woodland Mosaic Greenhouse in the Denver Botanic Gardens. The party design was inspired by the gardens, and layering patterns and textures in a light-drenched, glass filled greenhouse.

Nestled against the foothills of the Rockies on 700-acres, Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms is a charming venue with multiple indoor and outdoor sites surrounded by incredible gardens. One of the most popular sites is the Green Farm Barn with rustic, exposed wood and twinkle lights inside and a terrace strung with bistro lights outside. Another fantastic spot to host your celebration is the newly completed Deer Creek Stables, which features canvas sides that can be raised or lowered creating an indoor/ outdoor event space. For larger celebrations, the Open Air Chapel, nestled in the meadow with Deer Creek Canyon as the backdrop, can seat up to 500 guests. A grand cottonwood tree with thousands of lights acts as the altar for Prairie Garden Terrace, which includes use of the Deer Creek Schoolhouse. Our classically colored red barn encompasses a vibrant courtyard and sits beside the perfectly manicured events lawn giving you the feel of being at a vineyard in Napa. With one of our structures being over 100 years old, both Lola’s Loft and The Lost Horse Lounge is rich with character. Throughout the venue, you’ll get an equestrian vibe with a conventional twist. The White Cottage Farm is a beautifully restored, historic dairy farm that sits on just over eight acres. It is the perfect setting for intimate events for up to 100 guests. Located just east of Monument in the beautiful Black Forest, it is convenient to I-25, several hotels, restaurants, and the Air Force Academy. Choose from several locations on the property including several outdoor locations, two indoor event pavilions, or the schoolhouse chapel. The venue is available for weddings, vow renewals, bridal showers, receptions, family reunions, holiday parties, bridal, family and senior portraits. The 1909 farmhouse and bunkhouse are also available for overnight stays. Our onsite partner company Sisterhood Vintage Designs (www. sisterhoodvintagedesigns.com) offers all of the unique items to create an event that be remembered for a lifetime. We have a preferred vendor list for catering, event planners, and photographers, but you are also free to select your own.

After getting engaged and touring venues, Kayleen (co-owner of White Willow Barn) fell in love with the idea of owning a wedding venue that brought people closer to nature and animals. While this started as just a dream, it became a reality in early 2020 during the start of the covid-19 pandemic. To pass the time she decided to learn about homesteading and the ability to be self-su cient. In doing so, she and her spouse, Justin, started viewing properties, and that’s when they stumbled upon what is now the White Willow Barn. From the second they arrived, you could say it was serendipitous, Kayleen had an overwhelming feeling that this was where they were always meant to be. She now works side by side with her high school best friend, Kelly to run and manage the venue she dreamed of years ago.

Woodlands is a family owned and operated barn style venue for all of life’s celebrations. Located on 52 acres in Morrison Colorado, only 30 minutes from downtown Denver in the beautiful foothills. Our modern-industrial style barn with mountains surrounding; is a beautiful, white, barn with black trim. The inside is surrounded with white-washed wood walls and black accent fixtures for the perfect lighting. The barn has large sliding doors on either end and opens up to the ceremony area overlooking the mountain views. Our fully covered side patio is great for cocktails rain or shine. You can use the space as desired to fit your personal style. The barn also includes bridal and groom suites. Both rooms include dressing area, a counter with mirrors for the ladies, and a cozy area with couches and a TV to sit back and relax before the fun begins.
