Idaho has quickly risen to the top of my Rocky Mountain bucket list, and it’s no surprise why. The rolling hills of the region are inviting and completely gorgeous. This gem state is in no short supply of beautiful scenery and topnotch people. My hope with this Destination Wedding Planning Guide is to inspire your Rocky Mountain “I do’s” with talented work from local vendors, hidden gems for your rehearsal dinner or day-after brunch, and bring to life an area not widely known throughout the Rockies. Whether you’re in the throes of wedding planning or waiting for the start of your forever, always remember that love conquers all.
Happy Planning!

Alycia + Justin Justin and Alycia met on Instagram and talked for six months before meeting in person. They decided to meet in Las Vegas while Alycia was visiting a friend. They ended up going on a date and spending the entire rest of their weekend together. That was three years ago, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Justin proposed at the Spokane Indians Baseball game on June 13th at Dads Night. They were walking back to their car, and Justin dropped down on one knee as Alycia put their daughter into her car seat. Alycia screamed and, of course, said yes!

Brenna + Kyle Kyle and Brenna met in the eighth grade and started dating right away. They were each other’s first loves, and even though it didn’t work out between them at fourteen, he was one of her best friends all through high school. They started dating again our junior year and the rest is history. Their proposal was simple, sweet and perfect for them as a couple. They planned a spring wedding filled with greenery and inspired by the woods surrounding their venue at Camp Grizzly. The favorite moment of their wedding day was their first look; when Kyle and Brenna shared private vows to each other. It was a special moment with just the two of them and Caitlin House Photography capturing the moment from a distance. They laughed and cried together as they vowed to care for and love one another or the rest of their lives. It was an intimate moment that will stick with them forever.

WHY THE ROCKIES?
“Our venue was just minutes from our home. Kyle and I both swam there as children, and went to our first wedding as a couple there. It held a lot of sentimental value to us, and in our eyes nothing can beat the beauty of northern Idaho.”

Courtney + Cole Courtney and Cole met on eHarmony. Courtney only joined the online dating platform to appease her sister, while Cole joined to meet local people in the season of Covid. He was determined to only meet people locally, but set his radius on the world. Within an hour of expanding his settings to include the whole world, he met a girl from Idaho - 2703 miles from his home in North Carolina. Cole planned a surprise proposal with Courtney’s friends and families a few months after their fateful online meeting. They planned a modern classic summer wedding in the region. Courtney planned dozens of weddings before planning her own, so it was such a delight to plan her own. Finding the perfect details and combining both hers and Cole’s styles together made the process all the more fun. Courtney made sure to include special moments in their big day: live music performed by close friends, Cole’s love of old-Hollywood films and fireworks to cap off the celebration of their love.

Emily + Sawyer Sawyer and Emily met through a mutual friend, who asked them to be roommates with him. Emily had no idea who Sawyer was and the first time she met him, she asked him about a million questions to make sure he wasn’t someone she didn’t want to live with. As soon as they all moved into the house, Sawyer and Emily started to get to know each other and hung out almost every day. They truly became each other’s best friends. A couple months after that, they started to develop feelings and four and half years later they are happily married. They’re both amazed at how they started out as roommates not even knowing each other, and now they can’t imagine what life would be without each other. They wanted to bring Florida to Idaho with their wedding celebration, so they planned an early summer wedding with tropical elements. Sawyer and Emily wanted to incorporate people who had an impact on their lives into their wedding day, and did that by having their old roommate, who set them up, officiate their ceremony. Their wedding celebration was highlighted by a pizza bar, dancing, and getting to see family and friends that they hadn’t seen since moving and due to the global pandemic.

ADVICE TO FUTURE COUPLES
“Marry your best friend. We’ve had a lot of people ask us after we got married how married life is going or how we’re liking married life, and honestly it’s nothing too different when you marry your best friend. Communicate, love hard, and always kiss goodnight.”

McKayla + Jonathan Jonathan and McKayla met at Washington State University while living in the honors dorm. She was a sophomore and he was a freshman. He likes to tell the story that when he first met her he thought to himself, “No way she’d ever date me.” Then one winter night, the Honors college was throwing a Yule Ball. McKayla was teaching East Coast Swing dancing at the beginning of the night to attendees before the ball officially began. It was that night Jonathan swore that she couldn’t keep her eyes off of him, so he thought he actually stood a chance of dating her. While she remembers the story differently, one detail Jonathan neglects to add is that at the time of the ball, he showed up wearing the most outlandish and gaudy Christmas suit anyone had ever seen. People were stopping him to take photos with him. No one could keep their eyes off him that night! Needless to say, the suit was a well worth it Amazon impulse buy, because they started dating soon after. They grew so much that year in their faith in the Lord, and after about two years of dating got married right out of college. Photographer: Heather Woolery Photography | www.heatherwoolery.com
