Being born and raised in California, I moved to Northern Colorado six years ago for school (Go Rams!) and am completely smitten with this little slice of heaven in the Rockies. The people are welcoming, the craft beer scene is unreal and outdoor activities are endless in Northern Colorado. This guide is filled to the brim with wedding inspiration at a local brewery, a stunning Devil’s Backbone elopement and romantic wedding at Sweetheart Winery. The foothills in Fort Collins and red rock scenery in Loveland make the perfect backdrop for any Rocky Mountain wedding event. My hope is that you fall in love with Northern Colorado as much as I have and find the perfect detail or vendor for your wedding weekend.
Happy Planning!

Jayden + Jacob fort collins
Jadyn and Jacob met in fourth grade when attending the same school in Oklahoma. Jadyn had the biggest crush on Jacob, but then moved to Colorado in fifth grade before they could start their love story. They lost touch due to space and lack of cell phones, but when the two reconnected on Instagram when they were 14, the rest is history. They talked, snapchatted and started falling in love.

MODERN ROMANCE ELOPEMENT A beautiful historical bank building decorated with modern furnishings to make it young and fashionable is the backdrop for this modern romance styled shoot at The Cleveland Room in Loveland. The details are enriched with mauve floral arrangements from foliage of toffee roses, ivory peonies, sea thistle, white ranunculus, and white anemones, sword fern, and sage colored greens. The couple’s attire was dreamt up from a modern and clean vision. Jessie, from Desk Chair, chose a modern spin with the groom’s all-white tuxedo mixed with the traditional navy tux for the groomsmen. She opted for the bridesmaids to mix and match their dress fabrics and styles, while maintaining the same color palette. The dream for this styled shoot was to create the perfect balance of modern and clean colors with pops of color from the floral arrangements.

“Our beautiful historical building is an elegant balance between modern and mid century aesthetics. The Pantone Color of the Year was a deep navy, so I used this lightly in the color palette while really focusing on more romantic details such as hues of mauve, white, and gold. A polished modern charm, mixed with romance.”

Nicole + Mike loveland
Nicole and Mike originally met in middle school as sixth graders, and were each other’s first boyfriend and girlfriend. They went to separate schools and lost touch until they reconnected through mutual friends in college. Nicole left a movie at Mike’s house in sixth grade, and her new father-in-law returned it the day of their rehearsal dinner 10 years later! They planned an elegant September wedding in Loveland near Mike’s parents house. Devil’s Backbone was the backdrop for their special day and they danced the night away at 5030 Local - Berthoud Brewing Loveland. “Our dear friend was our officiant and it was so special to have him speak such meaningful words. It felt like time was moving so slow, and all I can remember is standing next to Mike knowing this was the best decision I had ever made.”

Madison + Joao loveland
Madison and Joao met as high schoolers, but didn’t start dating until college. Three years later after their first date, the couple went on a trip to Southeast Asia. As a surprise, Joao arranged a two-day trip to the Phi Phi Islands in Thailand. This was a bucket list part of the trip for Madison, so she thought the surprises ended there, until Joao dropped down on one knee on Maya Beach to propose after a long day of exploring the islands together. The exchanged vows with a summer wedding at Sweetheart Winery in Loveland, surrounded by their friends and family. Their wedding day was perfect, and was a direct result of their love for each other. From a private last dance before the sparkler send-off to the customized wildflower packets as wedding favors, Madison and Joao spent two years making every detail special.

MICRO-BREW & MICRO-WEDDINGS What did 2020 bring to the wedding and event industry? Intimate and smaller gatherings that bring people together from far and near. “Micro” contains various meanings to all, but for the team at Bliss Wedding Florist, the meaning inspired their pairing with a micro-brewery to create the perfect micro-inspirational wedding. Fort Collins has more than 20 craft breweries and continues to pride itself on brewery perfection. Odell Brewing Company is among those that has a significant and strong presence in Fort Collins that continuously attracts outsiders from all over. As a brewery and an amazing event venue, Odell Brewing Company seemed to be the perfect place for our inspiration to come to life. In addition to Odell Brewing Company, they honed in on the idea of having all Northern Colorado vendors. As a team, they focused primarily on neutral earth-tones with various pops of color through the flowers, the stationary, the tablescape details, and of course the brews too! From the rings and stationery to each and every flower selection and everything in between, they took a leap in hopes to bring the most unique inspiration for micro weddings to future brides.

Q + A with
FABLE By: Mackenzie Smith-Wuest What is your favorite part of the job? I have a two part answer for this! My first favorite part of my job is the moment the Father of the Bride sees the bride. It has to be hands down the sweetest moment I’ve ever seen. My second favorite moment is at the end of the night when the bride + groom are completely wrapped in love + pure happiness as they say goodnight to their friends and family as Mr. + Mrs. Just being able to witness the start of their life together is such a special moment I don’t take for granted. Do you have a favorite tool of the trade? Oh my goodness I must have the most boring answer for this, but in terms of planning, mine has to be a layout tool online. Saves you so much time! For everything else, hairspray + sticky putty is always the answer.
this or that
What is one thing you wish you could educate your clients on? I wish I could educate any newly engaged couple about the value of their vendors. Their florist, photographer, planner, ect. Each of these vendors are 100% worth their price tag and more. Which occupation would you like to try for a day? I would love to be a marine biologist tagging great whites and tracking orcas. Both of these ideas slightly terrify me so I think it’d be a fun challenge! Where do you come up with your ideas? A lot of the time I draw inspiration from the environment that surrounds the ceremony area, the couples vibe, personality, tastes + influences themselves. What trend do you wish would disappear? I know this is a big deal right now, but the disco ball trend is something that is hard for me to get behind! I’ve done weddings with them as a design piece + I’d do it again because after all, it’s not about me; but personally, I’m ready for a new design aspect to take its place! What is the last concert you’ve been to? The last concert I was at, pre-covid, was Judah + the Lion. What is your biggest indulgence? One hundred percent has to be barista made latte’s. I know it’s trivial in comparison to most, but my goodness does a good latte make all the difference. A close second to that would be parking at the garage at the airport, just steps from the terminal, haha! What is your favorite place to vacation? Ireland. It’s the first place I want to go and the last place I ever want to leave. I also love the pnw. Anywhere with lots of gloomy, rainy days is my happy place.
