Adam and Salina met in the most Canadian way possible—at a pick-up hockey game. One Facebook message and a Greek engagement later, the couple got married this past July in a picturesque mountain elopement. Despite being set to wed last summer, Adam and Salina made their dream wedding happen, all with a breathtaking Peaks & Vows helicopter ride to the top of a soaring mountain peak. It was modern, serene and perfect, washing away the roller coaster pandemic wedding planning process.

One year after being introduced by mutual friends, Harley went out on a whim and asked Jenaya to join him for a day filled with hiking and bubble tea during her next visit to Kelowna. In their case, the timing was perfect because Jenaya was planning on moving to the area from a small nearby town in only two weeks time. The two say that it was kismet. Since their entire relationship started with a hike, it only makes sense that their engagement involved one as well. To pop the question, Harley planned a beautiful boat tour up the Sunshine Coast to the Princess Louisa Inlet and Chatterbox Falls. Once the couple had arrived at the Falls, Harley asked the tour guide to take a photo of them, which was all part of his genius plan to get the perfect engagement shot. As the tour guide took the photo, Harley bent down on one knee under the cascading waterfall and asked Jenaya to marry him. It was an idyllic day, and they plan to visit again on their anniversary.

This couple’s engagement story starts with an ordinary winter day spent skating at a beautiful outdoor rink. As they were skating, Celina and Ryan were approached by a woman who stated that she was a photographer for a local paper and wanted to get some photos for the paper’s cover page. The pair was whisked off to a private ice path to capture the picturesque winter shot. After many loops, Ryan crashed down on his skates, only to rise up on one knee to ask Celina to marry him. It turns out that the photographer was actually one of Ryan’s friends, one who he asked to be there capturing the entire proposal. Celina said yes as the most magical golden light filled the landscape.

Jaydia and Eamon met at the sweet age of 16 while at a summer youth camp called Rockridge Canyon. During a country themed dance on the second night of camp, Jaydia reached out her hand to invite Eamon to dance. As you may have already guessed, the pair had a kismet connection right off the bat! Three and a half years later, the couple found themselves in Waterton National Park for an alpine-style shoot with photographer, Malorie Reiter. The shot was set up with Eamon and Jaydia facing away from each other, and when they were asked to turn around, Eamon was already kneeling down with a ring in his hand. Of course, Jaydia said yes, and the two spent the night celebrating with an evening at Waterton Glacier Suites.

Since their first date, Tayten and Mike have been inseparable as both friends and partners. After being set up by a mutual friend, the couple met at a local coffee shop and proceeded to chat until the cafe closed down for the night. As avid hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, Mike knew that Tayten wouldn't expect a proposal on a casual camping trip. He set a plan in motion to execute the ultimate outdoor proposal with the help of the pair’s friends. Mike got down on one knee next to a secluded lake and asked Tayten to spend the rest of her life with him. To celebrate, Mike whisked Tayten away to the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge for a getaway filled with happiness and nostalgia.

Meagan Adam + KANANASKIS
Meagan and Adam got engaged while walking along the coast of Vancouver Island. Meagan recalls that time seemed to stand still in that moment, and before she knew it, she had a ring on her finger and tears streaming down her face. Ten months later, the couple was declaring their love for one another with all of the most important people in attendance on September 8th. When they think back on the day, all of their favourite moments centred around their close friends and family members. The overall setup turned out to be beautiful and earthy, with lots of flowers, greenery and foliage from the natural landscape.

THE MAGIC MOMENT
On the day of the wedding, the rain really set the tone for a moody, natural and relaxed atmosphere. The weather proved to be on Meagan and Adam’s side when it started pouring just as the guests came in from the ceremony. The buzz of chit-chat that filled the room was one of the main highlights of the wedding, along with the fun dancing that took place during the reception. Ultimately, the couple chose a Rocky Mountain wedding because of the feeling of calm that engulfs you once you arrive in the mountains. Being in the fresh air and surrounded by nature just felt right!

SUNBURST
A golden hour sunburst can do wonders for an evening elopement, adding a touch of romanticism and warmth. The bride’s desert-inspired bouquet featured wisps of pampas grass and rugged fan palms to add additional texture to the landscape. Her Lis Simon gown was a little bit modern and a little bit boho with an open back and geometric patterned bell sleeves. Clover + Coast Designs jewellery added some frost to the look with minimalistic earrings. The groom sported an earthcoloured jacket for the ceremony to keep things grounded and interesting.

Andrea +Nicholas CANMORE
Andrea and Nicholas’ love story began at the University of Alberta, where they met in their third year of their kinesiology degree. As it happens, they found themselves as late arrivals to one of their labs, resulting in a stairwell meet cute. When they finally found their lab room, everyone else had already paired up for the activity, meaning they would act as each other’s partner for the day. Little did they know that a lab partnership would make way for a lifelong partnership! The two planned a classic and relaxed Canmore wedding on September 19th with those closest to them in attendance.

GOOD AS GOLD
The pair was engaged at Nicholas' family’s lake cabin just three and a half years after their first introduction as lab partners. The proposal was intimate, sentimental and celebrated with the couple’s closest friends. Set against one of the most iconic backdrops in the Alberta Rocky Mountains, the couple's wedding day boasted a day full of sweet speeches, loving guests, memorable moments and a pretty great Best Man rap to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song. The mountains really put on a show for them, with golden and seafoam hues that set the stage for their fall wedding.

WEST COAST EDEN
This elegant fall-inspired shoot takes the guessing game out of your West Coast wedding. Instead of worrying about the weather, which is often a concern with outdoor weddings, you can bring the beauty of the outdoors into a venue like The Pipe Shop. Keepsake Events worked with Hanaki Floral Design to bring in whimsical dried florals, evoking an idyllic Pacific atmosphere. Liza Child Calligraphy fashioned simple yet striking invitations that featured raw edges, delicate paper and romantic calligraphy creating the perfect touch for this natural shoot!

Wood and ceramic table elements from Barter Design grounded this design in the wood and stone that can be found in the outdoor environment of the West Coast. These intentionally placed details add interest without overwhelming the design. The team at Hanaki Floral Design took the time to hand-dye each and every ribbon, which then cascaded down from and tied together each place setting. Pedersen’s Event Rentals supplied a large wooden table that added substance and depth to the space.

WILD THING
A talented photographer puts the finishing touches on every wedding, and Maru Photography illustrated this through her soft and bright shooting style. Union Bridal dressed the bride to the nines with a gorgeous bubble-sleeve Alexandra Grecco jumpsuit for the ceremony. An outfit change with a champagne-coloured satin dress was utilized to better reflect the nature of the couple’s wedding reception—a fun celebration of love. Save the Date Beauty used a warm colour palette and a romantic pony to create a simple and beautiful bridal look.

Liza Child didn’t just design the couple’s stylish invitations, she also fashioned menu cards that displayed a custom wax seal as the focal point. Dried florals adorned each place setting to incorporate the dried garden into every aspect of the shoot. Kado Cakeshop ran with the botanical feel and used dried foliage to create something simple, interesting and worthy of the adventurous couple. This shoot was truly the fall inspiration that we needed, one that encourages us to adventure into wide open spaces with a wooly cardigan and the crisp autumn air at our skin.

Keturah Michael + LAKE LOUISE
Keturah and Michael met at the ages of 18 and 21 during a night out with friends at a local restaurant. At the end of the evening, Michael wrote his number down wrong when giving it to Keturah, meaning she was never able to follow up with a message or a call. A couple of weeks later, Keturah joined her friend Vikki at her cousin’s house, when she walked in the door, she found Michael sitting there in front of her. Both parties were equally shocked to see each other after their lines had gotten crossed. While Michael thought that Keturah just hadn’t called him, Keturah believed that he had purposely given her the wrong number. After a four year engagement, the pair read their vows during a small and relaxed wedding ceremony on September 28th amidst the crystal blue waters of Lake Louise.

After 10 years of dating, Michael dropped down on one knee while on a summer road trip to B.C. With a waterfall in the background, Keturah said yes, followed by many tears and smiles. The moment was surprising and amazing all at once, especially because the pair had their son and daughter, Maddox and Isabella, to share the moment with them. While they might be considered an ‘unconventional couple,’ Keturah and Michael were honoured to have their kids standing by them on the big day, something they wouldn’t trade for the world. Our bride’s favourite moment was getting ready with her daughter by her side.

After many years together and a global pandemic that derailed the couple’s original wedding plans, Keturah and Michael just couldn’t wait any longer to tie the knot. With 13 wedding guests, the pair went ahead and had a wedding that was slightly traditional and extremely memorable. It was very important that a pastor say a blessing as part of the ceremony, and the couple’s friends went above and beyond to make the day a success.

Love Forever Taken right out of a storybook, this styled shoot designed by I Dream in Decor and shot by Rivkah Photography reimagines the classic tale of Little Red Riding Hood by entangling them in a moody romance. The swaying long grasses of the Gonzales Observatory add natural elements that illustrate a whimsical and authentic wedding scene. Tones of deep red, blush, charcoal and burgundy make their entrance through fresh blooms, silky ribbons, modern tableware and dessert details. This shoot is titled To Redde, Love Wolfe—A Romance.
SHADES OF CRIMSON
The bride’s Blush Bridal Boutique gown is adorned with floral lace and features a scalloped V-neckline, worthy of any leading lady. Her Bespoke Blossoms bridal bouquet displays the most beautiful array of blush roses, red dahlias and fresh greenery. To further complete the look, the team incorporated deep ruby toned jewellery from Idar Jewellers and red ribbon. Together, these details depict the deeper side of love, the side that involves true vulnerabilities and real humanity.

DREAMLAND
Ayla Penya place cards bring in an old-time feel that mimic storybook pages from centuries passed. The delicate chain wrapping of the knotted napkins enhances the passion and moodiness of the entire styled shoot. Tabletop Curated Rentals and Trend Rentals & Design Studio brought together tableware and decor elements to achieve a rustic table setting. Tall taper candles illuminate the centrepiece with texture and colour. Although the inspiration comes from Little Red Riding Hood, this wedding reception is perfect for any storybook couple and romance.

Kayla +Chris CANMORE
Kayla and Chris were two university students who found themselves at the same bus stop during a busy school year. Chris first noticed Kayla as she was crossing the street, and little did he know, but his friend actually knew her. After a friendly introduction and a few bus rides together, Chris finally made the move to ask Kayla out for their first date. Eight years later, just a few days before Christmas, Chris proposed to Kayla with a fun scavenger hunt. The clues were hidden throughout their home and eventually led her to a Christmas stocking where inside she found a ring box. Of course, Kayla said yes, and the couple had two years of engaged bliss before the big day. Kayla and Chris planned a beautiful fall wedding in Canmore on September 26th.

“We loved the intimacy of our reception and that we were able to relax and not feel pulled in a million directions. Having just a small group of people allowed us to talk and spend time with everyone without feeling rushed. It was also incredibly surreal to be outside surrounded by the mountains. They were all the decor we really needed. That was something we did not expect to have and a serendipitous benefit of the gathering restrictions.”

ADVICE TO FUTURE COUPLES “If I could give any advice to couples planning their day with a smaller guest list, it would be to choose the people who are part of your day wisely. Not just family, but vendors as well. This isn’t always possible, but if you can find vendors who share your passions or connect with you on a personal level, choose them 100 per cent. I’m so glad to say that everyone on our vendor team either already was or has now become a dear friend.”

Kristin + Mirco VA N C O U V E R
Kristin and Mirco met while on a dreamy vacation in Cabo, Mexico and got engaged nearly five and a half years later during a trail run near Kristin’s parents’ house. As for their wedding, the pair opted for a modern courthouse ceremony on December 17th that oozed Sex and the City vibes and an intimate guest list of just eight people. To ensure that everyone felt like they were a part of the big day, Kristin and Mirco FaceTimed Mirco’s family living in Switzerland. The pair are also planning a large ceremony in 2022 to ensure everyone can celebrate with them.
- BC REAL WEDDING -
MODERN LOVE The couple’s ceremony at Vancouver City Hall was elegant, yet playful. The intimate nature of their wedding made for great memories that Kristin and Mirco will cherish forever. Their favourite moment was when the two of them held hands and vowed to love each other unconditionally. Kristin was surprised that she got as emotional as she did, but that’s what happens when a moment is more perfect than you could have ever imagined.

The Lodge on Harrison Lake is a serene and quaint location for an intimate winter elopement for the couple who wants to be immersed in nature. SPICE OF WINTER
Lewis Design Studio invitations transport you to a winter wonderland, with delicate snowflake designs, detailed pine trees and whimsical script. A Cakes by Peddie gingerbread house added the perfect winter touch with its fresh aromatic smell and frosted surface. Forest green Mr. & Mrs. camping mugs by My Handmade Wedding Co. were filled with Cups of Cocoa hot chocolate and Baileys to warm up the bride and groom on this chilly afternoon. There’s nothing quite like some twinkle lights, fur blankets and a crackling fire to brighten up a grey winter’s day.

SENSES OF THE SEASON
Cascading garland, white roses and bright holly designed by Lisa Glover Floral Design adorned the table to create a striking centrepiece for guests to admire while enjoying the festivities. The bride’s Everything but the Groom dress is right out of a winter storybook, featuring intricate lace, a deep V-neckline and a full train. This look was complemented perfectly with beautiful hair and makeup by Be Flawless Beauty Bar. The groom’s classic suit paired well with the hints of emerald that were found in his tie and the bride’s bouquet. What really tied the shoot together was the smell of evergreen mixed with gingerbread, in combination with a palette full of deep navy, rich gold and forest green.

There’s nothing better than a little pop of colour next to an untouched piece of Rocky Mountains covered in snow. We can’t imagine anything more beautiful, and Flower Artistry's florals perfectly complemented the shoot with designs bursting in shades of evergreen, pomegranate, cream, sienna and blush. Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours supplied the pup-drawn carriage to carry the bride and groom to and from this serene locale. Rebeka + Daniele SQUAMISH, BC
Rebeka and Daniele had a serendipitous start to their relationship after the two met one Halloween night. At the end of the evening, the pair shared a cab home and Rebeka gave Daniele her number. She recalls, “I floated into my apartment and couldn’t wait for him to call. Except he never did!” When the two ran into each other again the following weekend, and they had an equally perfect night, Rebeka gathered the courage to ask Dan out on a date. When she asked why he never called— it turned out that she had missed a digit when she typed her number into his phone. Although Daniele didn’t have the right number for his future bride-to-be, they were clearly meant to cross paths again! When Rebeka and Daniele's dream wedding in Croatia was derailed, the two decided the perfect place to say "I do" would be where they had gotten engaged a year prior. The pair planned an epic Whistler elopement of their dreams featuring the stunning Fitzsimmons Mountain Range courtesy of Black Tusk Helicopter on August 16th.

ADVICE TO FUTURE COUPLES “Life can be so unpredictable, so don’t get too attached to plans. We, like many couples, felt so devastated when we had to cancel our dream wedding. It took us a while to understand that at the end of the day, when everything is stripped from us, having each other is everything and more. Most importantly, remember to be present. Take in each moment before it passes. The day flies by so fast that you barely remember what happened. So take a breath, look around you, and feel each moment deeply so you can keep it with you forever.”

Katarina and Daniel, like so many other couples, found themselves unable to get married the traditional way during the pandemic. When Daniel suggested the two elope, they realized that it fit their personalities and relationship perfectly and began planning their stunning day. To feel family close, the bride wore heirloom items such as Daniel's great-grandmother's fur coat, his grandmother's bracelet and her mother's earrings.
