A weekend getaway with friends to Whistler led to Andrea meeting Adamo. The spark was lit and after seven years of dating, Adamo proposed at a stunning viewpoint near their recreational property. The proposal took place on Victoria Day, the very same day the pair first met years before. Andrea and Adamo are reminded of the nostalgia that unfolded on a piece of land they get to call their own.

KRISTEN + JERRET vancouver

Kristen and Jerret met at a friend's Christmas party in their hometown while Kristen was finishing her undergraduate studies and Jerret playing hockey in Seattle, Washington. Distance was no match for this meant-to-be couple. After three years of long distance dating, they were reunited in Vancouver for two years followed by a cross-country move to France for Jerret’s professional hockey career. On their sixth anniversary, Jerret surprised Kristen with a breathtaking helicopter ride through the mountains. They made a landing on a sandbank in the middle of the remote Winslow Lake. As Kristen was taking a picture of the pretty surroundings, she felt a tap on her shoulder. When she turned around, there was Jerret on one knee!

MELISSA + DANTON edmonton Danton’s favourite summer activity is slow-pitch softball. When a mutual friend begged Melissa to participate in the game, she was especially reluctant as she had never played before. Melissa attended the game thinking it would be a one time activity. However, upon her arrival she laid eyes on the pitcher and immediately knew she would make an appearance the following week. It wasn’t long before Melissa and Danton exchanged numbers, subsequently next came dinner and a movie. From there, they were inseparable. Three and a half years later, the couple went on an annual winter vacation to Panorama Mountain Resort tucked deep into the Kootenay mountains. Danton made arrangements to pop the question before dinner after a day on the slopes. At the base of the magical resort, Danton got down on one knee and asked Melissa to spend forever with him. LEANN + TYLER thormanby island For Leann and Tyler, it was love at first swipe. The couple connected on the Tinder app while Tyler lived in Vancouver at the time and Leann in Surrey. After exchanging a few messages online, Tyler asked Leann for her number and promptly called to ask her out for dinner. Naturally, Leann was a little thrown off by the phone call, but within a few minutes plans were made for their first date, and as they say, the rest is history! Less than four years later, Leann and Tyler found themselves back in Whistler where it all began. This time around, the pair made their way to Lost Lake for a casual walk before dinner. Now at the dock along with a miraculously empty lake, Tyler stopped and asked Leann to dance. Just like a movie scene, telling her how much he loved her, Tyler got down on one knee to propose. When the newly engaged couple returned to their hotel room, it was transformed into an intimate setting filled with candles, rose petals, and a bottle of wine courtesy of friends. Let the meticulously maintained vineyards set amongst sprawling hills and mountains overlooking Lake Okanagan speak for itself for the ceremony. Kaman and Wilbert’s love story began in the Philippines at a wedding where they were seated next to each other. Three and a half years after meeting, Wilbert orchestrated the most swoon-worthy proposal with the help of design creatives while the couple stayed at Snug Harbour Inn, an oceanside bed and breakfast in Ucluelet. Nestled on a cliff overlooking the rugged Pacific coastline, Wilbert led Kaman down a long flight of stairs to the private beach. There, waiting at the bottom of the steps was a trail of twinkling candles leading to a bonfire accompanied by a setup of chairs and champagne. Breathtaking floral walls and a local guitarist fulfilled the romantic scene to pop the question. Kaman and Wilbert planned an intimate Lake Como inspired wedding for June 19th.

THE VOWS

Wilbert grew up in the Catholic church, so the couple opted to exchange traditional vows at St. Augustine’s Church located in the Kitsilano neighbourhood of Vancouver. Following the vows, came the ring exchange. “I had a lot of trouble getting Wilbert’s ring on since his fingers were so swollen from the heat. The entire exchange of vows was a really comedic experience and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It was so symbolic of our relationship together where we’re always laughing and being silly with each other,” says Kaman.

Introduced by mutual friends, Heather and Brent's story began in the fall of 2014. After five years of memorable adventures together, the pair was traveling in Switzerland where Brent surprised Heather with a trip to Jungfraujoch. It was an impressive journey by cable car from the valley floor to the Bernese Alps. Halfway down from the top of the mountain, they stopped for fondue in the alpine mountain village of Murren. Brent proposed to Heather on the mountainside amidst the breathtaking views of surrounding glaciers. Despite their love of travelling, Heather and Brent decided to be married in their hometown surrounded by lush gardens and their closest family and friends. Their wedding was an intimate celebration of their love for one another in the heart of Inglewood, one of Calgary's most historic neighbourhoods on July 3rd.

What started as a childhood summer crush for Samantha ultimately transformed into a romantic relationship. Samantha and Connor grew up together as their families both owned cabins in Invermere, British Columbia. After ten years of dating, Connor booked a trip to the United Kingdom and Europe for Samantha’s birthday. On the couple’s last night in London they decided to grab a drink at the top of The Shard before dinner. While taking in the views from the 72-storey glass clad skyscraper, Connor suggested getting a photo. The two closely observed and found the best looking candidate for the job. Once the photo was captured Connor asked for one more to be taken. This time, without a moment’s hesitation he dropped to his knee and popped the question! Samantha and Connor planned a desert inspired wedding for July 24th.

Taylor + Joel COCHRANE

In 2015 a picture of Joel appeared on Taylor’s Instagram feed, she couldn’t help but “like” a few of his photos in hopes that he would take notice. He, of course, did and messaged Taylor shortly after. Joel was playing hockey in Kamloops at the time, so their initial introduction was on FaceTime. Regular FaceTime dates continued for months until Joel was able to return home and the pair met in person for the first time. Four years later, Joel asked Taylor to join him to gather cattle in a pasture that overlooked the river and Cochrane. He led Taylor on horseback to the most picturesque view where he got down on one knee and proposed. An ecstatic Taylor could not wait to get off her horse to say, “Yes!” Taylor and Joel planned an elegant, country wedding for July 24th.

The bride complements the countryside landscape by donning a black felt cowboy hat, the perfect touch of Western flair.

Madison and Nav met during the end of their junior year of high school. While Madison was born and raised in Kelowna, Nav moved around a lot during childhood before his family settled in the Okanagan Valley. The high school sweethearts dated for eight and a half years before taking the next step in their relationship. As the saying goes, ‘home is where the heart is,’ Nav proposed to Madison at their apartment in the most relaxed and comfortable setting before taking off to Jasper, Alberta for a weekend ski retreat with friends. In the twenty-first century, dating apps are one of the most common ways couples meet. For Nicole and Tyler it all started with a swipe right on Tinder. The couple’s love story began and flourished after their first date to a local neighbourhood wine bar. Tyler proposed to Nicole in 2020. The proposal gave a sentimental nod to an inside joke shared between the two of them. It was an ordinary Thursday when Nicole stumbled out of bed and walked down the stairs to find Tyler waiting at the bottom of the staircase in front of an epic sign that read, “Hey baby, I think I want to marry you,” all while Bruno Mars was playing in the background. After Nicole said, “Yes,” Tyler had another surprise waiting. It was only fitting that the freshly engaged couple celebrated with a perfect mountain getaway to an alpine sanctuary at the Kananaskis Nordic Spa. Daniela and Dave met while at a bar in Vancouver 11 years ago. The couple dated for a year before Daniela’s work took her abroad. Although Daniela and Dave didn't officially stay together during this time, their hearts found a way back to each other. In July 2019, the two traveled to Whistler for what Daniela believed was a modeling opportunity. Complete with contracts, release forms, hair and makeup, Daniela never suspected anything out of the ordinary. With the shoot unfolding in a beautiful mountain setting, the couple was instructed to face opposite directions with their backs to each other. When the photographer told Daniela to turn around there was Dave on one knee with an engagement ring in hand. Completely in awe and overwhelmed with joy, tears streamed down Daniela’s face. After the proposal, the pair journeyed down the mountainside in a gondola and celebrated with a bottle of champagne that Dave had hidden inside his bag. After having their plans derailed three times, Daniela and Dave finally had the romantic outdoor wedding of their dreams on August 14th.

When Daniela’s sister and Maid of Honour, Isabel, was unable to attend the wedding due to restrictions, lockdowns and stay-at-home orders in Australia, she wanted to surprise the married couple with a special gift. So, Isabel and the wedding party teamed up to create a sentimental moment that will always be remembered. After Daniela and Dave’s first look, the pair took a limousine to an unknown destination. “We were very excited to find a helicopter waiting for us,” says Daniela. Traveling to a stunning lakeside location with their photographer, Daniela and Dave soaked in an afternoon of pure bliss surrounded by nature.

Miranda +Stephen KELOWNA When you think about meeting your partner and future spouse, you certainly don’t expect to find that person at the bank, but that’s exactly how Miranda and Stephen’s romance first unfolded. The pair met during a short overlap at the bank where they both worked. After a lunch date to discuss business, they connected on a new level and have been together since. In 2019, the couple made plans to spend Thanksgiving in Los Angeles, California. Stephen suggested having a picnic to enjoy the last bit of warm weather in Vancouver the day before their trip and Miranda agreed. The duo set off to Flight Path Park in Richmond, a prime location to spot planes flying overhead. Once the picnic was in place, Stephen asked for the hand warmers that were in their bag. As Miranda looked inside, she noticed a frame with a play on words from her favourite romantic comedy, Notting Hill. It read, “I am just a boy, kneeling in front of a girl, asking her to marry me.” Next thing she knew, Stephen was that boy. Knowing one of their mutual loves is traveling, and that they would become forever travel partners, Stephen proposed at the park that is just outside the grounds of Vancouver International Airport. Miranda and Stephen planned a modern and refined bohemian wedding for August 14th.
