Hello Darling! One of my favorite things to do when on a road trip is to create an epic playlist and have fun singing when no one (thankfully) can hear me! This past June, while traveling from Boise to Missoula I had a solid seven hours to get my fill of car jams in. Right before the Montana border, you drive through the Nez Perce – Clearwater National Forest and follow the Crooked Fork River all the way. It was a misty afternoon and the river was roaring from the snow melt. John Denver “Take Me Home, Country Roads” came on it was one of those moments a song captures every essence of a moment perfectly. Granted, he was singing about West Virginia, but I think root of the song applies to any gorgeous place that gives you a sense of home. The Rockies are just that. They become home for so many love stories and we at RMB find home in every place we are able to go along the mountains we adore. For our third Regional magazine, we wanted to give each of you a sense of home and comfort with every love story and inspiration we created. No matter your style, we have something that will make your heart flutter. We also featured the most elopement stories in a magazine to date! They are filled with so much emotion and sometimes leave us the most inspired and with all the feels for sure. Your wedding day in the Rockies is magical. Over eight years ago, Sarah and Thierry crossed paths while attending university in Montreal. The same library area and long study sessions brought them together. As the two became closer, they started meeting up with friends outside of the library. Little did Sarah and Thierry know that their friends were trying to set them up the entire time! Although Sarah is very shy, she did not hesitate when Thierry asked her out on a dinner date. The couple fell in love quickly. From the time Thierry met Sarah, he always knew he wanted to marry her. For years he planned a proposal that would be unforgettable. He knew how much Sarah loved Christmas. It wasn’t just her favorite time of year, but a way of life! Better yet, following tradition, the pair always exchanged ornaments, and Thierry couldn’t imagine a more perfect opportunity to ask Sarah to be his wife. In late November of 2014, Thierry wrapped up an ornament that read, “Will you marry me?” As Sarah opened the small gift and read the ornament, she turned around speechless to find Thierry with a ring in his hand (he forgot to get down on one knee, because he was too nervous!). Of course, she said yes to being his for the rest of their lives! The couple opted for a romantic and intimate elopement on an August day in Banff National Park.

runaway with me After Sarah finished her master’s program, the two initially started planning a wedding in Quebec. Sarah and Thierry considered several venues for their day, but had a difficult time making a true connection. With a load of stress and uncertainty, they started to lose hope locally. That’s when Sarah remembered a blog post she had fallen in love with, shortly after Thierry proposed, featuring Storm Mountain Lodge in Banff. Once again, she looked up the property and knew it was the right choice. It was almost as if eloping in Banff National Park, just the two of them, was fate.
a vendor team worth keeping Sarah and Thierry are so happy they chose the vendors they did for their day. Sunny, from Always Sunny, went above and beyond in designing the perfect bridal bouquet. Not to mention, Abby + Dave stayed much longer than needed to capture the newlywed’s day. They even joined them for lunch and a quick trip to the candy store across the street!

the ceremony “We were standing in the middle of a quiet field surrounded by thick forest. I didn’t expect our ceremony to be so intimate. Yet reading our vows to one another, in front of our parents, was nothing I had ever felt before. By the end, we were all in tears.”

At first, we went back and forth on the decision, but in the end we figured we may really only have one shot at this. It was so worth it. The views were fantastic - we flew so close to the glaciers! Rachel and Brent first met on a blind date that was set up by Rachel’s best friend’s husband. They went to a cozy diner on Halloween night. Even though Rachel walked up to the wrong man at first, the two clicked immediately! Rachel was so intrigued with Brent. The feeling was almost indescribable. The couple was together for four years before embarking on a special camping trip to the Lower Lakes. After setting up camp and cooking dinner over the fire, Rachel and Brent found an intimate spot to watch the sunset. Rachel grabbed her camera to take a picture of the colorfully painted clouds, only to turn around and find Brent down on one knee. He asked her to be his wife. Without hesitation, Rachel said, “YES!” She even captured a picture of the moment! The pair planned a timeless, June 10th summer wedding at Durali Villa.

classically organic As a planner and designer herself, Rachel envisioned a classic and organic theme for her wedding. She wanted an experience that was in no way “trending”, but reflected both her and Brent as individuals as well as a couple. Brittan and John David met while attending the University of Oklahoma - Boomer Sooner! Mutual friends introduced them at the OU vs. Bama football game in New Orleans, and soon after the two were an item. Fast-forward a couple years to the couple living together in Oklahoma City. John David came up with a crafty (and scary!) way to propose to the love of his life. John David pretended that their chocolate lab, Fitzgerald, ran away. Frantic and in tears, Brittan was running around trying to find him when a random number called her cell phone saying that they found the dog and to meet them in a field close by. Once she arrived, Fitzgerald sat there quite happy and safe with a sign around his neck that said, “Will you please marry my daddy?” Now happy tears and smiles, Brittan said, “Yes!” The two planned a mountaintop destination wedding on September 9th in Keystone.

Haley and Wes first crossed paths when Haley was in town visiting her sister in college. It was love at first sight for Haley, but Wes didn’t give her the time of day as she was still in high school. The following year, Haley was a freshman at the same college. She ran into Wes again at a party and gave it all she had to get his attention. Wes definitely made her work for it, but she loved the challenge and ended up winning him over. The couple dated for nearly eight years before Wes decided to make Haley his wife. One sunny day, Wes planned a hike to Mount Tame followed by a picnic for two. During the hike, they came across a wide open field that held the most beautiful tree. Right when Wes saw the towering tree, he knew it was the perfect place to set the scene. After Haley layed out the picnic blanket, she turned around to find Wes on one knee. He asked her to be his partner for life. Completely swept off her feet, Haley said, “Yes!” The pair planned a fall celebration in romantic Sun Valley on September 2nd.

Wes is a native, and, even though I was raised in the south, my family spent many summers in the small, mountain town. Not only does Sun Valley hold special meaning and memories for the both of us, but it has always felt like home.”
mother knows best Haley found her dress with her mom and sister in New Orleans. Before walking into Wedding Belles, she had a clear cut idea of what she wanted for her bridal look. Haley tried on three gowns that just didn’t feel right. After the third attempt, her mother asked her to try on a lace adorned, ball gown with a romantic tulle skirt. At first Haley doubted her choice, but she tried it on anyway. It was perfect! Once the team at Wedding Belles completed her look with a veil, the entire room got emotional, and Haley knew it was the one she would wear when she walked down the aisle.

Kira and Kyle met at the Minneapolis Airport while they were both traveling for work. They instantly knew it wasn’t a chance encounter, and the two agreed to meet in Kansas City for their first official date. From then on, they were together! Kira and Kyle were crazy for one another and fell madly in love over the coming months. Kyle knew Kira was the one for him, so he decided to propose to her during their trip to Charleston, South Carolina. Kyle studied the streets of Charleston so the street names would hold a hidden message! As the two walked to dinner on a rainy night, Kyle guided Kira down unfamiliar streets that spelled out his special proposal. They started on King St., took a stroll on Queen St., turned down Meeting St. and followed Church St. Of course, Kira was not paying attention to the street names. She was hungry and holding back from asking Kyle if he knew where he was going! Finally, Kyle led Kira to the most charming, cobblestone alleyway. He grabbed her hand and confessed, “It took me 40 years and 50 states to find you, but I did. A king can’t meet his queen at the church without one of these..” Just then he got down on one knee and proposed. Practically speechless, Kira said, “Yes!” They planned a thoughtful and sophisticated celebration in Big Sky on September 10th.

meet me under the big sky Kira and Kyle decided to get married in Big Sky not only because Kyle grew up in a neighboring town, but it came to be such a special place for the two of them together. They wanted to share this unique slice of heaven with their guests who traveled from over 25 states to celebrate their union. After the wedding, their friends and family thanked them endlessly for having their wedding in such a beautiful part of the country.

In the summer of 2012, Clare and Keith met through a mutual friend at Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. The two were drawn to each other immediately. However, they parted ways, because they never thought they would see one another again. That October Clare’s brother, who worked in the music industry, begged her to attend Austin City Limits last minute to meet with one of his networks. She agreed and was completely shocked to find the man she was sent to meet with was Keith - the handsome man she crushed on at Bonnaroo! The pair rekindled and spent the rest of the time getting to know one another. Before Keith headed back to his home in Nashville, he asked Clare to come visit him. The rest is history, or maybe just fate! Clare and Keith dated long distance for a year before Clare decided to move out to live with him. One morning in March, Keith asked Claire out to lunch at one of their favorite, old neighborhood haunts, the Frothy Monkey. It’s actually where they had their first official date! Clare should have known right then that Keith was up to something, but she didn’t expect a thing. After lunch, in the park across the street, Keith got down on one knee, pulled out his grandmother’s ring out of his pocket and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. The couple planned a destination wedding with all of their dearest family and friends in Santa Fe on May 13th.

santa fe is calling Clare fell in love with Santa Fe at a very young age. Her family spent many holiday vacations there. Not to mention, her mom opened up an art gallery in the city in 2011 eventually leading both of her parents to retire there. Because Clare grew up in a very small town in Texas, and the majority of their guests were from out of town, the couple decided to have a destination wedding in Santa Fe and turn their day into an experience for their 300 plus guests.

“On our wedding day, my mother gifted me a 65K aquamarine ring that belonged to my grandmother. She got in her 20’s in South America. I had never seen it before! I will forever cherish that moment, and the ring, as my grandmother and I were really close, and she passed away four years ago. one creative ceremony “We had a large guest list to accommodate, so we had to get creative at La Posada. While initially touring the property, we were having the hardest time choosing a ceremony spot. Until we came across the parking lot! The lot was embraced by authentic adobe structures and the most beautiful cottonwood tree acted as the focal point. Right then, I knew it was meant for us. On the day of, we elevated the outdoor space with artisan rugs and a floral adorned chuppah to tie in Keith’s Jewish traditions.”

Tess and Kade met through both of their best friends who were dating each other. Their best friends were convinced that Tess and Kade would be the perfect match. However, neither of them ever acted on it - until New Year’s Eve, where Tess and Kade felt a spark and ended the night with their first kiss at midnight! After that night, they just came together, effortlessly and instantly in love. After dating for a while, Tess and her family took a humanitarian trip to Nepal for two weeks. The day she got back home, Kade was waiting for her. Although Tess was exhausted from her travels, she agreed to go out to dinner with Kade. For dessert, the couple stopped at one of Tess’ favorite bakeries, Sweet Tooth Fairy. As they got to the front counter, Kade asked if they had any sprinkle cupcakes in the back. Tess doubted it as it’s her number one sweet, and she has mapped out every sprinkle cupcake in the Western U.S. To her surprise, the woman pulled out a whole box! Kade opened up the box to reveal the cupcakes that spelled out, “Marry Me?” He got down on one knee and asked Tess to be his wife. The pair planned a floral-inspired celebration on August 5th in Salt Lake City with all of their loved ones.

Amanda and Justin are high school sweethearts. They found young love their freshman year and have been together ever since. Last summer the couple packed up their camper and took off on a month long road trip through the Rockies. They visited Yellowstone, Moab and, as they were headed back East towards Chicago, they made their final stop in Rocky Mountain National Park. They spent their day hiking the alpines. By the time they got back to camp the pair was wiped out from climbing in such high elevations. Just when Amanda was getting ready to lay down for a nap, Justin asked her to hike to the top of the peak by their campsite to watch the sunset. She put her exhaustion aside and joined him. Under a painted Colorado sky, after learning and growing with one another for over 16 years, Justin got down on one knee and asked Amanda to be his wife. She said, “Yes!� The couple opted for an intimate, August elopement at one of their favorite mountain getaways, Grand Teton National Park.

oh give me a home “As an artist, I have always been inspired by places. The first time we visited the Tetons of Wyoming, I knew it was my kind of place. Grand Teton National Park was different from all of the other parks we had visited. Everything from the raw and vast landscapes to the wildlife was genuine and majestic. Justin and I felt integrated into nature and the community. On our way back out to get married, coming over the pass from Dubois, I thought, ‘Oh, it feels so good to be home!’”
a dress fit for the mountains Amanda got her dress from Wolsfelt’s Bridal, a family-owned bridal boutique in Aurora, Illinois. At first Amanda was convinced she was going to makeshift a dress to save money, but, as the date got closer, she knew she had to be more realistic. Initially, she envisioned herself in a classic ballroom gown with long sleeves. However, the day she tried on dresses with her sister at Wolsfelt’s, she fell in love with a gray toned, lace adorned design with a prominent structure and a deep plunging neckline. It was feminine and the perfect amount of sexy. Above all, it was comfortable which was very important to Amanda as she did not want to feel seperated from the natural elements of the mountains.
my dream come true “I never thought we would have the wedding we dreamed of. Especially because we had dated for so long. The entire experience was truly a dream come true. Surreal and magical! During our ceremony at Schwabacher Landing, as we held hands in front of our parents and siblings, I remember whispering out loud, ‘I can’t believe this is my wedding!’”

The newlyweds rode through the autumn graced Lamar Valley and all around Yellowstone National Park. Snowy Range Adventures
ALI & BOOKER’S ENGAGEMENT INSPIRATION Booker and I grew up and enjoyed spending time in the Snowy Range and all of Wyoming’s mountain ranges and valleys. My love of the outdoors, growing up hunting and fishing with my father, and my time training horses and working for a Laramie Range ranch has made my love for this state and the Rocky Mountains even deeper into my adulthood. On our shoot we encountered a young bull moose who seemed to step out of the Little Brooklyn lake fog just in time to have his photo taken, then linger just in case we hadn’t had enough time to snap a good enough photo of him. Heather and Aaron met in D.C. The two just so happened to be living in the same apartment building at the time - Aaron on the 5th floor and Heather on the 4th. They first crossed paths outside on the street. Aaron passed by Heather then, to her surprise, turned around and walked back towards her to introduce himself. Heather was glad he did! The couple had an immediate connection and came together easily. After 14 years of traveling the world and sharing a life together, Aaron asked Heather to be his wife one evening while watching the sunset at the bay. The pair eloped, just the two of them, on February 4th at The Ranch at Rock Creek.

Heather and Aaron had never been to Montana before. However, they were always drawn to the state’s vast landscapes and adventurous spirit. While the two were engaged, they were planning a getaway to Big Sky Country. It didn’t take long for the couple to decide that it was the perfect opportunity to elope! Heather and Aaron not only envisioned their union taking place outdoors in the winter, but they wanted it to be done their own way, just the two of them.
winter wonderland “The sleigh ride to and from the ceremony is by far my most cherished memory. We were married in the middle of an open, snow covered field. Water trickled downstream and deer wandered throughout the property as we slowly made our way to the site. The ride was intimate and so special. We were truly in our own winter wonderland.”

advice for rocky m o u n ta i n c o u p l e s “Don’t stress about all the little details, or things not going as planned. Focus on the reason you’re there that day. If that doesn’t give you peace, it might be a good idea to spend some alone time with the one you’re getting married to before the ceremony (especially if you’re doing a first look anyway). Our first look made me that much more excited to marry him, and it relieved some of that building stress and tension. Do your homework on a good photographer, videographer and your venue. The rest of it won’t matter as much once the day arrives. The focus is you and the one you’re marrying, don’t make it about anything else.”

Jiyeon + Jongsun hope

Four years ago, Jiyeon and Jongsun met through a mutual friend. At the time neither of them were looking for a serious relationship. However, one night, the pair connected naturally over dinner, and the rest was history! Jiyeon lived in Toronto while Jongsun called Vancouver home. Fortunately, Jiyeon’s career as a flight attendant brought her to many places, including back to Vancouver for frequent dinner dates with Jongsun. After about a year of dating long distance, Jiyeon moved to Vancouver to be with Jongsun. From there, their love grew quickly and talks about their future wedding started to come up! So when Jiyeon’s birthday came around, she anticipated a proposal. She was wrong, and, honestly, slightly disappointed. A few days after her birthday celebration, Jongsun came over to Jiyeon’s place to show her some of his recent work (he just so happens to be a wedding photographer himself)! He handed her a digital gallery of 20 - 30 images and asked her to let him know what she thought. As she swept through each photograph, Jongsun warned her that he was going to run out to his car to grab his “stuff”. After the very last photo, Jiyeon found a proposal letter written by Jongsun, “Will you marry me?” Jiyeon turned around only to find him at the door with a ring and flowers in both hands. Of course she said, “Yes!” The two planned an intimate, cozy wedding on February 25th tucked in the mountains of Hope, British Columbia.

as husband and wife “Preparing the wedding together was very special to the both of us. I didn’t think to hire a wedding planner. I wanted every decision to be made equally with my soon to be wife. Jiyeon and I wanted a private celebration with our closest family and friends. We envisioned a cozy, relaxed day together. The best feeling was watching it all come together and being at peace with the final outcome.”
the one Jiyeon drove down to Seattle to go dress shopping at BHLDN. She adored their designs and knew they had the right match for her. Jiyeon envisioned herself in a simple and classic yet vintage gown. The moment she walked in “the one” caught her eye, and she fell in love immediately after trying it on.

grandmother knows best “Based on the weather forecast, we weren’t expecting snow that day. Yet, the morning of our wedding, it seemed as if the snow never stopped falling. My grandmother shared an old Korean saying with me - if it snows on your wedding day it’s good luck. I believe she was right, because it couldn’t have been more perfect.”

293 Wallace, a local restaurant in Hope, catered the couple’s wedding. JS, with a background in culinary arts, was shocked to know the chef as he was one of his former colleagues. The chef and his staff cooked everything on site that day and prepared the most delicious, traditional Hiro. As a wedding present, the chef gifted the couple with a gift card to the restaurant. Jiyeon and JS plan to have dinner again at 293 Wallace in Hope to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
