I now understand why Montana is referred to as “Big Sky Country.” I realized this during my first trip to Bozeman on a sunny May day. As we started to descend, I peeked out of my airplane window and just stared - the mountains, the spring green landscape and that sky! Out of all the mountains I have now traveled to, there is, for some reason, something special about Montana. I thought about A River Runs Through It, and what I imagined Montana to be like through the film; and in real life it’s even better! There is something uniquely “Big Sky” that allows you to get lost in its beauty and fall in love with every snapshot you see around you. In creating this issue of RMB Montana, we wanted to capture that beauty in all the love stories, inspiration, and pretty things crafted just for the Montana bride. From the snowy scape in our Ranch at Rock Creek feature, to the early morning rays for RMB’s Gown Guide at Chico Hot Springs, we invite you to become smitten with this great state. We want you to find the place where you will create memories and a “Big Sky” chapter in your own love story. The Rocky Mountain Bride is a woman who embraces her mountains and captures their vibrant beauty in everything she does. She is at home when she is in the mountains, and they play host to the start of her beautiful marriage. RMB is honored and excited to be a part of your Rocky Mountain “I Do!”

My love of Montana weddings grows by the day; they are not only ridiculously gorgeous, but so meaningful as well. Every detail is thoughtful and full of love. Not to mention, the Rocky Mountain Bride’s love of adventure is unparalleled and when paired with the beauty of Montana, it creates a truly magical day. It is such an honor to share in the joy of one of the happiest days of their lives.

“Kurt and I couldn’t have imagined a better celebration of our love. We originally decided on a fall wedding because of Kurt’s Minor League Baseball schedule at the time, but after it was all said and done, we wouldn’t have wanted a wedding in any other season. We had a more traditional ceremony at the church I grew up in; it was very emotional and meaningful to us and our guests. Our reception was held in giant tents in my parent’s backyard. We wanted to create a woodsy, romantic, elegant and fun vibe. With all the beauty that NW Montana has to offer and the amazing family and friends that we have, it wasn’t too hard to make our vision a reality. Aside from sealing the deal, the most amazing part of the entire day was that everyone Kurt and I love was in one place at one time (in my backyard to top it off!). We can’t thank our vendors and all our friends and family enough.” - Jaime & Kurt, married October 25, 2014

Genisa & Alex kalispell
On an early March morning, Genisa and Alex eloped to the Flathead County Courthouse and said “1Do.” The two dated in middle school and reconnected in 2008 while at a mutual friend’s party. Alex was sitting on the couch, and when he was spotted by Genisa, she ran in and jumped into his lap and gave him a big hug. When people ask how the two ended up together, Alex likes to say that Genisa landed in his lap one day! A couple of years later, Alex relocated to Idaho to pursue a career in Forest Service as a wildland firefighter. The two had a long-distance relationship until Genisa visited McCall and fell in love with the area. Alex proposed to her in McCall couple of months later. The two planned an intimate elopement with Glacier National Park as their backdrop. The day was all about them, and they wouldn’t have changed it for the world.
22 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride Montana
The Theme: Genisa and Alex decided to make it official on their 7th anniversary! Instead of a theme, they focused their wedding day around being together and relaxing!
The Dress: “We’re Catholic, so I knew I wanted something with lace, but I also
wanted something I could wear again. I ended up with a cute, comfy dusty lavender dress from Free People.”
The Celebration Dinner: After photos, Genisa and Alex spent the rest of the
day hanging out around Whitefish. They had burgers for lunch at a local pub, and sushi for dinner, just like their first date! For a sweet treat, Genisa had some gluten-free cupcakes made by Bridge Bakery, an exclusively gluten-free bakery. The bride had red velvet cupcakes and the groom opted for carrot cake cupcakes. Yum!
The Favorite Detail: “Our big splurge was our pictures. We went to Glacier
National Park and took pictures along Lake McDonald. We’re so blessed that we got to have that as the backdrop for our wedding day.”
Three Words: Intimate, Relaxing, Romantic Advice for RMB Brides: “Just go with your gut and do what feels right to you. After the vows are said and pictures are done, it’s just you and your new spouse, so enjoy each other!”

Amanda & Ben coram
Amanda had always known about Ben - he was her friend’s older brother! After years of hearing they should date, they finally had their first get-together on Cinco de Mayo at Smiley’s Acoustic Cafe in Greenville, South Carolina. Despite having a great first date, Amanda fell asleep five minutes into the car ride home! Ben still jokes that she clearly wasn’t anxious about the first kiss! From then on, the two were inseparable. Ben proposed to Amanda while at the river with their dog, Nash. She was completely surprised! The two decided to plan a September 6th destination wedding with 24 of their closest family and friends to Green Valley Ranch. Their love of the mountains made Montana the perfect place to become husband and wife.
26 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride Montana
The Theme: Relaxed! Amanda and Ben both wanted something intimate for their
wedding so they decided a destination wedding was the route to take. They took their family from South Carolina to gorgeous Coram, Montana - a new adventure for their family who had never been to Montana! They chose a color palette of light pinks, purples and blues to match the natural beauty of Big Sky Country.
The Dress: “Since the wedding was family only, I invited my best girlfriends out to The
Dress, a consignment wedding dress boutique in Mauldin, South Carolina to help me find the one. I’ve never been a fashion guru so I wanted to make sure I had plenty of friends to help me. We had the best time and I was so glad I included them on the wedding dress hunt. I had two that I really loved so we went to lunch, sent pictures to my mom and called her for an opinion. In the end I purchased an Allure Bridal gown. I loved it!”
The Flowers: “After we all returned from the rehearsal dinner on Friday night, the
men went downstairs to play pool and hang in the basement while all the women grabbed a glass of wine and got ready to put together all of our flower arrangements and bouquets. This was so much fun! Coming from South Carolina and being unable to meet with florists, we decided to order the bulk of our flowers online and have them delivered to the ranch. We had buckets and buckets of roses, dahlias and spray roses. We started with the bridal bouquet, then I told the bridesmaids how many of each type of flower to use in making their own individual bouquets. We used everything else to make the rest of the flower arrangements for the ceremony, dinner, and reception. I couldn’t believe how beautiful they all turned out. Being able to put them together with all of my favorite ladies is such a sweet memory.”

The Favorite Detail: Amanda’s favorite detail was
having her grandmother’s belongings with her on her wedding day. She wore her grandmother’s fabulous mink stole, which have her initials embroidered on the inside pocket, and she carried her pearls on her bouquet. The pearls were purchased for her grandmother by her grandfather while in Japan during World War II.
The Sweets: The couple kept it simple when it came to
their cake! They served a vanilla cake with a rich chocolate mousse filling - yum!
The Food: During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed
huckleberry brie, Mediterranean pull apart bread, and shrimp cocktail. For dinner, Amanda and Ben served a strawberry spinach salad, ribeye steaks, roasted potatoes and green beans.
Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “Getting to our beautiful
honeymoon suite, Montana style... the teepee was sooo romantic and cozy.”

Rocky Mountain Bride Montana
Advice for RMB Brides: “Make sure your day is about you and your future husband. Everyone will have their opinions, but yours and his are what matter the most. Give yourself time to think EVERYTHING through, but also be able to go with the flow. You plan as much as you possibly can and then make it work once you get there. Be flexible. For us, September was amazing! We had nice weather and the summer crowds had died down. Plan to be there for at least 4-5 days; there are so many beautiful things to do and see. The awe we were all in from going to the park the day before the wedding set such a joyful and thankful tone for us and our guests as we went in to our wedding day. If you splurge on one thing, make sure you have a good photographer. Our pictures take us right back to that day and we cherish them so much. Three Words: Joyful, Spiritual, Fun

Monique & Zach big sky
Monique and Zach tied the knot on a crisp March 5th at the Summit Hotel Terrace at Big Sky Resort. The two were introduced by mutual friends and hit it off immediately! Zach proposed on his family’s land in Dodge, North Dakota while cross country skiing - something Monique loves to do! He had to “check” on one of the trail cameras and when she turned around, Zach was on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him. A suprised Monique said yes! The two decided a winter wedding at Big Sky was perfect. Surrounded by friends, family and a snow-capped Lone Peak, they celebrated their love for each other with all of the people who mean the most to them!
Rocky Mountain Bride Montana

The Theme: Monique and Zach chose a winter-romantic
with a mountain-shabby-chic theme for their wedding. It was tailored with woodland accents as well as touches of green berries and black calla lilies. They chose a color palette of white, ivory, soft green, grays and silvers to complement their day.
The Dress: “I shopped for my wedding dress in
Minneapolis. My mother and I went to so many stores and I LOVED trying on all the different styles of wedding dresses, but none of them seemed to fit ‘me.’ I finally was able to find two different dresses that I felt fit my personality, style and body. I ultimately picked the ‘Belle’ by Jenny Packham from L’Atelier Couture Bridal Boutique because it fit perfectly for our winter wedding in the mountains and also met the requirements I wanted in my wedding dress: simple, classy, sexy, and comfortable. I felt like a princess in a winter wonderland when I wore the dress and knew it was going to be MY dress!” “This is an impossible question as there were so many great aspects of our wedding that I LOVED! I loved that it was a small wedding because we were able to incorporate more special activities that can’t always be done with a large guest count, such as the professional photos we took with and sent to each guest after the wedding. Overall, my absolute favorite wedding detail was the fact that the wedding ceremony was outside at the base the of mountain with Lone Peak and the sunset in the background!”
The Favorite Detail:
36 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride Montana
The Flowers: When it came to floral, Monique didn’t have a particular type or style, she just wanted them to be simple and classy. She let the talented Remy of Labellum pick out the floral, so it would match her theme of bringing the mountain outdoors, inside! White and ivory floral accented with soft greens and grays were used to create the look. Monique’s favorite element was the fresh moss wall created as the centerpiece for their ceremony! The couple chose a white champagne cake with a white buttercream frosting as their sweet treat. Monique loves cake!
The Sweets:
The Food: Monique and Zach served guests three different entree options: green peppercorn chicken breast, grilled pork tenderloin or salmon with herb citrus balsamic glaze. Yum!

Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “Our favorite Mr. and Mrs. mo-
ment was when the wedding ceremony, dinner, and the night’s dancing was all over and all of the guests gathered outside for the sparkler send off. This was the first time Zach and I had a quiet moment to ourselves to take in what actually happened that day... that we got MARRIED! While we were only able to dwell in that perfect moment for a second, the night ended with a beautiful sparkler send off with loud cheers and cries from our friends and family!”
Advice for RMB Brides: “It is YOUR wedding, do more of what you want and less of trying to please others. The wedding planning goes by way too fast so make sure to enjoy every minute of it and try to make HAPPY memories!” Three Words: Winter Wonderland, Magical, Breathtaking

Ryann & Cody harve
Ryann and Cody grew up in the same hometown, but it wasn’t until years later that they started dating. A first date at the local ice skating rink started their love story. When Cody was ready to propose to Ryann, he thought that same ice rink would be the perfect place to pop the question. Though it didn’t go quite as planned, Ryann was completely surprised and said yes! The two decided to plan a hometown wedding for July11th. They became husband and wife during a gorgeous outdoor ceremony on the Northern Montana State University campus, with dinner and dancing at the Student Union Building!
68 rockymountainbride.com
Rocky Mountain Bride Montana
The Theme: Ryann and Cody planned a nature-chic wedding. They didn’t have a set
color palette, but rather drew inspiration from the vibrant hues found in wildflowers. The most common color they used was blue to match Ryann’s sapphire ring.
The Dress: “I found the dress at Belle en Blanc. It is a Blush dress, mermaid style. I
tried on a lot of dresses that I liked, but none that I loved and gave me that ‘wow’ moment. There was no doubt in my mind that I had found it when I put my dress on, but there were a few things I wanted to change to make it more me. Luckily, the alterations specialist was really easy to work with and she made it happen! I had it altered by taking out the tulle underneath and the train.”
The Flowers: Ryann considers herself a bit of a ‘wildflower’, so using them as her
main floral for her wedding seemed to match her perfectly! She loved the colors and natural elements they added to the wedding design.

The Favorite Detail: “Our photographers were
amazing! They made the impossible possible! And they made everything happen with smiles on their faces and ours. We are forever grateful to them for their dedication, talent, knowledge, and uniqueness! Our pictures are the key to our memories of our special day and they are incredible!”
The Food: The couple served chicken cordon bleu accompanied by asparagus, potatoes, a fresh garden salad and bread. The couple still talk about how good the food was!
The Sweets: Ryann and Cody chose a lemon cake from Park Avenue Bakery in Helena - it’s Ryann’s favorite! Guests also enjoyed a variety of pies. The First Dance The newlyweds danced to “Fool For You” by John Butler Trio. Ryann and Cody loved the artist and thought the song’s lyrics were beautiful for their wedding day. Mr. and Mrs. Moment: “Our first dance because even though everyone was around watching, we were able to block them out and just be us. It was the first time I felt like we were alone as husband and wife.”

Frosted mountains and fresh snowfall. The Ranch at Rock Creek plays host to a winter love story filled with rich crimson hues, warm candlelight and a gorgeous bride. Fall in love with the landscape of winter and embrace the cold with warm style elements. Beargrass Gardens created an ambiance that captured a perfect Montana winter wedding with touches of luxury and rich floral that complement the Montana ranch and western allure. A color palette of gray-blue, neutrals and a deep red pulled together this look. The use of geode slices infused a natural blue hue into the look, which paired stunningly with the soft velvet ribbon and neutral elements. Red ties together the season and a timeless look of elegance in the design.
