Being born and raised in Colorado, I found my love for the Rockies in a state that holds so many beautiful places. Through the years, I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many of the other states across the Rockies and have found a certain charm to all of them. Something about the fresh air blowing through the evergreens, or the sand blowing across the Southwest deserts, and the aqua blue lakes in the north, I couldn’t think of a better place to say “I do!” than the Rockies. As I begin to plan my own Rocky Mountain wedding using RMB, I find myself in awe of the talented local vendors in each pocket of the Rocky Mountain region. S E A S O N A L W E AT H E R Spanning south from Provo to the northern tip of Ogden, the Salt Lake City area shines as an ideal wedding location all year round. From May to September, the weather is warm and sunny, making it the most popular time of the year to tie the knot. If you are looking for that warm weather vibe and plenty of rays, June might be your best bet with average temps in the low 80s. If you are wanting a cozy ambiance to your day, look to January when the city is often blanketed with snow. For a more moody day, check out March and April. While there is a chance of rain, storm clouds instantly add a dramatic feel, and they say rain on your wedding day is good luck, right?

W H AT T O P A C K Guiding guests on what to pack for your wedding can take a lot of the guesswork out of their decision. Feel free to add your wedding attire, whether it be cocktail casual or black-tie optional, to your wedding website. Here is also a great place to add little tidbits too, such as packing a shawl for the cooler months, sunglasses if you are having an outdoor summer ceremony, and reminding guests to drink plenty of water to avoid altitude sickness.
ACTIVITIES Northwest of downtown Salt Lake City, find the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere, Great Salt Lake. From sunbathing along the white sand shores of Antelope Island State Park to exploring the land art of the Spiral Jetty to setting sail on the lake, Great Salt Lake offers endless activities for adventurers. Or simply take a dip in the salty water as the salinity causes your body to easily float! Cheer on your favorite team! The Salt Lake City metro area is home to two D1 universities, Brigham Young University (BYU) and the University of Utah. Head south to Provo to watch BYU play in the idyllic LaVell Edwards Stadium with the peaks of Y Mountain shining in the background. Or catch a game at the University of Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium just east of downtown Salt Lake City. Get your heart pumping on one of the many nearby trails in the Wasatch Mountains. North of Ogden, Waterfall Canyon Trail located off of Ogden Park is a moderate 3.3 mile, out and back trail. During the spring, Little Mountain Trail features a plethora of wildflowers on an easy 3.4 mile path. Near Sundance, Stewart Falls Trail showcases a stunning waterfall and panoramic views along the 3.4 mile trail.

Make it official In the state of Utah, you can get your marriage license at any county clerk’s office. Your partner and you must both be in attendance with proper identification. You will be asked multiple questions while you are there such as when and where are you getting married or if you’ve had any previous marriages. It will cost $50, and the license is valid for 30 days. The state of Utah does not require you to be a resident or have a blood test, but two adult witnesses must be present at your ceremony.

Katie and David met during college at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. They were both members of the university’s waterski team, which instantly gave them something in common. Eight years later, Katie and David took a getaway together to Charleston, South Carolina. In the coastal city that has become synonymous with Southern charm, David asked Katie to marry him! Chris flew from Europe for Mara’s birthday when he suggested they go on a walk with the dog, which wasn’t particularly strange to Mara. She didn’t think a thing about it. They were playing fetch in the park with Kiki, and as Mara was looking for another stick to throw, Chris said, “How about this one?” She turned around to find him on one knee with a ring. Staying true to Mara’s Romanian roots, Chris proposed in Romanian.”He chose Memory Grove Park because of its location across the street from Mara’s first American home after her family immigrated from Romania, the ideal spot to honor their new chapter together.

While Hannah and Braden grew up in the same city and even attended the same school, the pair didn’t officially meet until they both attended a mutual friend’s wedding reception. Hannah and Braden realized they were both heading off to the University of Southern Utah in fall, and later Hannah sent him an Instagram friend request to show she was interested. Hannah and Braden ended up running into each other on the first day of school on campus, and finally set up an official date.

Just five months later, the pair set off for a hike in Ogden to Waterfall Canyon. Hannah slipped halfway up and wanted to turn back, but Braden convinced her to keep going. As they reached the frozen waterfall, a sign read “Marry Me” was strung from the icicles and Braden presented Hannah with a bouquet of long stemmed yellow daisies before dropping to one knee to propose.

Leslie and Chad dreamed of eloping at a city hall, and one day Chad made that dream come true. He proposed in front of the historic city hall in Coalville, Utah. Leslie was crying before he even pulled that Tiffany blue box out of his pocket. He asked her to be his partner in life, and through tears, she said yes. There wasn’t a soul around to ruin the perfect moment shared between the two. The rustic mountain elegance wedding reflected Leslie and Chad’s unique personalities. Staying true to their musical roots, Leslie and Chad had a musical program, instead of dancing, where several of their friends who are professional musicians performed. “Many of us had not performed in public for several months due to the pandemic, so being able to come together to perform at our wedding was so special.
