Being born and raised in Colorado, I found my love for the Rockies in a state that holds so many beautiful places. Through the years, I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many of the other states across the Rockies and have found a certain charm to all of them. Something about the fresh air blowing through the evergreens, or the sand blowing across the Southwest deserts, and the aqua blue lakes in the north, I couldn’t think of a better place to say “I do!” than the Rockies. As I begin to plan my own Rocky Mountain wedding using RMB, I find myself in awe of the talented local vendors in each pocket of the Rocky Mountain region. SEASONAL WEATHER Known for freezing and snowy winters, Steamboat Springs is the ideal winter wedding destination. January to March are the perfect months for hosting a magical winter wedding with the average temperature around 8°. Summers in Steamboat Springs are warm and dry, which makes June to August the best months to plan a wedding if you’re looking for warmer weather with less chance of precipitation.
W H AT T O P A C K Guiding guests on what to pack for your wedding can take a lot of the guesswork out of their decision. Feel free to add your wedding attire, whether it be cocktail casual or black-tie optional, to your wedding website. Here is also a great place to add little tidbits too, such as packing a shawl for the cooler months, sunglasses if you are having an outdoor summer ceremony, and reminding guests to drink plenty of water to avoid altitude sickness.
ACTIVITIES Plan your wedding festivities around the endless amount of outdoor activities Steamboat Springs has to offer. Indulge in a relaxing pre-wedding soak in the Strawberry Park Hot Springs with your bride tribe or hit the slopes with your wedding party at the Steamboat Ski Resort if you’re looking for more adventure. If adventure isn’t quite your style, pack a picnic and walk around the Yampa River Botanic Park and Core Trail or learn about Steamboat’s rich history at the Tread of Pioneers Museum. Steamboat is also home to one of the top spas in the state at The Steamboat Grand, where you can book a spa day for you and your bridal party. Whether your wedding lands in the summer or winter, you’ll find delectable treats and yummy cocktails at almost every local restaurant. Rustic-chic decor greets you at every coffee shop, breakfast spot or Après-ski dining option in town. Enjoy dinner under the stars at Timber and Torch or host a lunch at the Oasis Sundeck for expansive views of Steamboat.
Make it official Your marriage license, while one of the most important pieces, should be the least of your worries on your wedding day. You can purchase your license at the Routt County Clerk’s Office and must use it within 63 days of purchase. You and your spouse-tobe must both be in attendance when purchasing the $30 license with proper forms of identification and proof of age.

Tom proposed to Ann while they were camping in Indian Peaks Wilderness, next to a beautiful alpine lake, just the two of them. They spent the rest of the night drinking champagne and watching a meteor shower. Their favorite wedding day moment was the first look. They cried and embraced in a beautiful field of sage at La Joya Dulce. The nerves leading up to the day diminished as soon as they saw each other. Ann and Tom’s day was filled with love and laughter as their friends and family celebrated their love. One special moment of the day was when Ann’s maid of honor, Kristina, surprised everyone during her speech with all of Ann’s friends standing up with mullet wigs on.

Becca and Brian escaped to Lanai, Hawaii for a romantic getaway when Brian popped the question. While hiking to Sweetheart Rock, Brian dropped down on one knee and proposed while a local photographer was there to capture the sweet moment. Both Becca and Brian’s favorite moment of their wedding day was their private first look at Holy Name Catholic Church. It was a moment of peace to see each other before walking down the aisle and to soak in the beauty of the day.
