PRETTY Litt le DETAILS Your wedding invitation is more than just a simple letter in the mail. Naturally, the stationery you choose is the first look at the aesthetic of your wedding and will set the mood for the entire event. Invitat ion

ESSENTIALS Pink Umbrella Designs recommends, “When you’re ordering invitations, make sure they reflect your wedding vision. Your guests should get the same feeling when walking into your reception as opening your invitation. Your invitation suite should represent you as a couple, right down to the wording. Your guests will notice and appreciate the thought put into them.” SAVE THE DATES A save the date is a precursor to your formal wedding invitations, feel free to have a little more fun and be creative when designing this particular piece. It is a casual notice asking guests to kindly hold your wedding date on their calendars. Save the dates should be sent six to eight months in advance and mention the city and state of your wedding, your wedding website; if you have one, and that a formal invitation will follow. THE INVITATION The wedding invitation lists all of the important details of the day such as the couple’s name, the date, the time, the name of the venue, and the city and state. Invitations should be sent to your guests at least six to eight weeks in advance of your wedding. RESPONSE CARD The response card, or RSVP, is the card your guests will mail back their reply on. This card indicates who is attending as well as their meal choices or any dietary restrictions if applicable. RECEPTION CARD The reception card, often called the small enclosure, is sent with the wedding invitation to inform guests if the ceremony and reception are at different venue locations. LARGE ENCLOSURE This card can be used for any information you would like to share with your guests, and commonly used to highlight preferred accommodations, directions or a map, transportation and shuttle information, pre and post wedding activities or any other important details. BELLY BAND The belly band, or invitation wrapper is used to bundle the paper suite items. The band can be customized to match your details and color palette. THANK YOU CARDS Express your gratitude to guests for taking part in one of the most important days of your life with a thoughtful thank you card. Generally, thank you cards should be sent out within three weeks of receiving the gift, or a little later if you want to include photos from your wedding day.

Paper

PLANNING Leave your wedding stationery to a design expert. Unlike other vendors, stationers can be involved throughout the entire duration of your engagement. From creating a completely original save the date card and bridal shower invitations to all the paper goods and signage for the special day itself including; ceremony programs, vow books, escort and place cards, there is no shortage of pretty paper when it comes to wedding planning. Working with a seasoned stationery designer will allow you to fine-tune your design aesthetic and bring your vision to life. Tailor-made invitations should encapsulate the ceremony and reception décor style, your personality as a couple and tell a story. CEREMONY PROGRAM Ceremony programs are a traditional piece of paper that lists out details of the wedding ceremony. It can be a helpful way for guests to follow along with the service and typically contains a wedding day timeline, order of the ceremony, names of the bridal party, readings, and musical selections. VOW BOOKS From pocket-sized options that won’t look out of place at the altar to large hardcover books you can style on the coffee table in your home, vow books serve as a special wedding keepsake for the years to come. ESCORT CARDS Escort cards are physical cards or items to be picked up by your guests to let them know which table they are assigned to for dinner. These displays are usually placed in a grouping right before the entrance to the reception area. PLACE CARDS A wedding place card is a piece of stationery that typically goes on your reception tables to let guests know which seat is theirs and can contain their dinner selection for catering to streamline service. TABLE NUMBERS An especially important detail if you’re having a large wedding reception. Table numbers help guests find their seats and provide an element of organization. When choosing the design of your table number, you’ll want to make sure that they are legible and easy for guests to notice. MENU CARDS Reception menu cards provide an overview of what will be served for the meal and when. They can also be presented as a finishing touch to your wedding décor details and tablescape design.

secrets to a successful & stylish bridal party Once your best gals say “Yes” to your bridesmaid proposal, it’s time for the fun to begin! From the bridal shower to the bachelorette party, your Maid of Honor will take the reins, however, styling your bridesmaids for the big day is your vision. Let your wedding theme, color palette and season inspire the complete look. Flip through the following pages to influence your bridal party style.

Bridesmaids’

DRESS SHOPPING

TIPS 1. shop local If there is a boutique in your area that sells bridesmaid dresses, start with them before you endlessly scroll online! There is nothing like seeing colors and trying on dresses in person with a professional stylist. If you don't have a local bridesmaid dress boutique, consider a virtual appointment with one anywhere in the country! It can never hurt to start shopping with expert styling advice.

2. start shopping ahead of time You should start shopping at least eight to twelve months before your wedding. With longer lead times due to staffing and COVID it is very important to make your selections a little further in advance.

3. don’t wait to purchase Once you’ve decided on your bridesmaid dress style(s), don't wait to purchase! Even if the big day seems a ways away, circumstances can change overnight that might affect your desired dress(es).

4. talk openly about budgets Have the conversation with your bridal party about their budget. Tanya Hartman, owner of Gilded Social explains, we hear it all the time, "I don't want to ask my bridesmaids to pay too much.” Well, make sure you know what they think is too much! Assuming their budget without asking may limit your style options, and potentially lead to not getting the dress you really wanted.

5. help cover the costs If your girls do have a strict budget that is less than the style you're really wanting, consider contributing a little money toward their dress!

Samantha + Ryan G L A C I E R N AT I O N A L P A R K , M O N TA N A

Samantha and Ryan met while interning at Fresh Life Church in 2015. The two became fast friends as Ryan was the only boy in the program and Samantha was as high energy as they come. Their friendship continued over the course of five years before evolving into a friends-to-lovers romance. To propose, Ryan planned a hike at Herron Park in Kalispell, Montana, known as the gateway to Glacier National Park and one of Samantha’s favorite spots. She often spent time there to pray, and it was even a destination for the pair to talk through what a relationship might look like months earlier. As they made their way up the trailhead, snow fell from Montana’s big sky creating a beautiful and romantic backdrop. The couple arrived at the overlook where Ryan made an attempt to set up his phone to capture the surprise proposal, but couldn’t figure out how to. During his scramble of trying to take a photo and present the ring from his pocket, Samantha shared just how special this bench was situated at the top of the mountain. Without a moment’s hesitation, Ryan asked, “Can I make it even more special?” Ryan got down on one knee in the snow and asked Samantha to be his wife! The blurry picture came next. Samantha and Ryan planned a simplistic, boho elopement for March 6th.

Chloe Moses + C H I L L I WA C K , B R I T I S H C O L U M B I A

Chloe and Moses were introduced through their mutual friends, but never actually met until a rainy day in September. The pair decided to meet in person at a darling coffee shop in White Rock, British Columbia, where the conversation naturally flowed. Hours went by and eventually the café closed, forcing them to leave. It was pouring rain outside, but that didn’t stop them from continuing their date. Chloe and Moses walked in the rain on the beach before parting ways. Six months into dating, Moses took Chloe on a beautiful hike one morning. They went back to Moses’ family cabin to get ready for the evening, Chloe recalls, Moses telling her to dress for a nice dinner. That night, they walked along the lake and were welcomed by a canoe adorned with a single rose, compliments of Moses. The couple hopped in and paddled across the lake where Moses set up a romantic candlelit picnic. He read a letter that he had written expressing his unconditional love. As they were about to leave in the canoe, Moses got down on one knee and proposed. Chloe and Moses planned a boho, mountain elopement for May 1st.

Elena and Mit met through an online dating app. Their first date took place on a sweltering July evening in Atlanta, Georgia. As Elena recollects, “Despite the heat, it was a perfect first date with fried chicken, live Jazz music and frozé.” The two instantly bonded over a mutual love of travel, camping and the great outdoors. While Elena completed her medical school rotations and Mit navigated his busy work schedule, it became clear that they were building something extraordinary. Two years into dating, Mit prepared a lovely dinner at home followed by an evening walk. He then suggested making a pit-stop at the very same restaurant where the couple had their first date over frozé. As they walked home, Mit got down on one knee and proposed. Elena was so surprised, she asked if the proposal was a joke. Mit chuckled and responded, “Is that a yes?” Elena, of course, said “Yes!” Elena and Mit planned a classic, relaxed wedding for May 29th.

Delainey + Zack L A K E C O U N T R Y, B R I T I S H C O L U M B I A

Delainey and Zack met in their hometown at a junior high dance. When Zack, a seventh grader, asked eighth grade Delainey to dance, she declined, but ultimately told him to find her near the end of the evening. As the night came to a close, Delainey saw Zack leaving with his friends and shouted, “Hey Zack! Do you want my number?” He, of course, said, “Yes.” Five years into dating, Delainey and Zack were visiting his family’s acreage, a special spot where the couple made plans to build their home and grow a family. Little did they know three months later, Delainey would be pregnant with their son, Cassius. Zack asked Delainey to marry him right where their future home would be. After the intimate proposal, Zack walked Delainey through the property, telling her about his grandparents and where their house used to be on the very same land. Delainey and Zack planned a modern and natural wedding for June 1st.

A DREAM COME TRUE

“The highlight of the wedding ceremony was definitely that my dream of having my grandfather walk me down the aisle came true. My grandfather, Keith Babb, will always be my absolute favorite person, and the first love of my life. That day I was so nervous, yet walking down the stairs to meet him before going to the ceremony was all I needed to feel calm. Right before we started walking, he looked at me and said, ‘It’s not too late for me to gas up the car and get you out of here if you want’. We laughed and he started singing to me on the way down the aisle. He always made me feel so supported and that was just enough to change my whole vibe and shake off the stress.”

During an ordinary game of Pictionary, it was Jay’s turn when he began drawing a couple. Ashley and Jay worked with Elsa Jagniecki, owner and creative director of Heirlooms Design, to elevate the natural, earthy-organic, and rustic style of The Stakeout while still making their celebration feel chic and elegant. Playing off the inherent environmental color palette of dusty sage, terracotta, and white-washed adobe, they incorporated local ceramics by Logan Wannamaker, along with shimmering copper elements to balance the venue’s fixtures. For the floral design, Floriography Flowers created a beautiful blend of muted desert tones and fresh June blooms with a hint of greenery.

Tasha + Kaelan VA I L , C O L O R A D O

Tasha and Kaelan met in high school on a business club trip to New York City. The relationship between the two Colorado natives blossomed. Four years later on a trip to Italy, Kaelan planned a momentous proposal. It was the couple’s first stop in Positano, a cliffside village on southern Italy’s Amalfi Coast with turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea where Kaelan suggested taking photos on the beach. Tasha recollects, “As I was looking out at the ocean, I turned around to find Kaelan on one knee asking to spend the rest of his life with me.” Kaelen enlisted help to capture Tasha’s “Yes!” with a surprise photoshoot. After the proposal, the pair ran around town taking photos to relive the romantic moment for decades to come. Tasha and Kaelan planned a modern, classic wedding for June 26th.

“We wanted a wedding that was very timeless and elegant, a lot of times you see the same florals and design concept done again and again so, we wanted to make it unique and ours while still keeping it classic. Heather from Table 6 Productions was all ears for hearing our wants and needs while suggesting some new ideas that never occurred to us. The team at Design Works was one of the most professional vendors we had the pleasure of working with, the lengths they went to transform the venue space into our own little romantic world was nothing short of perfection.”

Sara and Patrick met while attending Military Boarding School in New Mexico. One day, while Sara’s mother was visiting her at school, she offered to give Patrick a ride to the airport. On the way they experienced a tire blowout while traveling in the heavy snow. Patrick graciously changed the tire as Sara and her mom kept warm inside the car. As the years passed, Sara’s feelings towards Patrick flourished and their friendship became more intimate. After almost a year and a half together, Patrick proposed in the couple’s home right as they were leaving for their weekly date night. The couple celebrated their engagement with a romantic Italian dinner. Sara and Patrick planned a modern wedding featuring bright pops of color for June 26th.

It was a crowded pub that brought Julia and Rory together. The pair exchanged numbers that night and met for a first date only a few days later. Fast forward seven years, Julia and Rory decided they were ready for an engagement, and met with a jeweler in London, England to design Julia’s dream ring. To propose, Rory planned a surprise proposal at the couple’s home on a quiet Saturday morning while sipping coffee in bed. Julia and Rory wanted to capture a feeling of Hygge on their wedding day; a Danish concept of comfortable conviviality and coziness. The bride and groom said, “I do” at Julia’s grandparents’ cabin on July 26th.

FALL

Rocky Mountain High As one of the best-kept secrets of the Rockies, the San Juan Range located in the southern part of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, possesses earth-shattering views. The mountains are made up of jagged volcanic summits, home to meadows of wildflowers in the summer, pristine alpine lakes, magical waterfalls, and plenty of trails for the adventure enthusiast. Among these snow-capped mountains is Wilson Peak located just outside of Telluride, a quiet hideaway making it the perfect base for couples longing to elope. The same sawtooth-like Wilson Peak that rises to a massive 14,023 feet, the signature symbol for Coors Light cans, beautifully sits as the backdrop of your event at Sleighs & Wagons’ lower golden ledge.

Rachell + Nick L O V E L A N D PA S S , C O L O R A D O

Rachell and Nick met nearly six years ago while on campus at their alma mater, Montclair State University in New Jersey. Rachell was on the campus shuttle when Nick, sitting a few rows ahead, caught her eye. An introverted Rachell uncharacteristically said, “hello” first which led to a brief conversation. Fast forward a few months, the two found themselves in a class together. This time, Nick approached Rachell first and the rest is history! Native to the east coast, Nick proposed to Rachell in New York City, New York. The evening was planned under the guise of modeling for Nick’s best friend who is an aspiring photographer. The shoot ensured that the couple looked their best without raising any suspicion of the surprise that was to come. The three friends headed to The Edge, an outdoor sky deck that sits 100 floors above the city streets of Manhattan. When they arrived at their destination, the skies were flashing with lightning and of course the skyscraper was closed. With the unexpected change of plans Nick and his friend quickly reverted to a new game plan. They began taking photos in front of an extraordinary structure called, The Vessel. After a few successful shots Nick retrieved the ring box that was tucked away in the camera bag. Rachell turned around to see Nick on one knee, ring box in hand. Despite forgetting to open the ring box, Rachell of course, said “Yes!”

Tessa and Riley met early on in high school through a mutual friend. But because of external circumstances, a relationship was not feasible. Like many love stories, sometimes wrong timing just takes, well, time. A few years passed when the pair found themselves single at the same time. What once kept them apart had been lifted. Seven years later, Riley proposed on the couple’s seventh anniversary. It was a crisp autumn day at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, with stunning shades of red, orange and yellow leaves falling from the tree branches. Tessa recalls, “The proposal was super intimate and personal, although I had my suspicions as he was acting a little different the days leading up to this day. He secretly talked to my parents the night before to ask permission to propose.” Tessa and Riley planned a backyard boho wedding for September 5th.

When December rolled around, Brooks asked Devyn to the Kappa Christmas Date Dinner and the two of them never looked back. Four and a half years later, Brooks and Devyn’s families were visiting with the couple in Seattle, Washington for the Fourth of July holiday. Some might call Kayla and Dylan twenty-first century soulmates after meeting through Tinder. Five years into dating, the couple decided that marriage was the next step. Exactly one year before the wedding, Kayla and Dylan escaped to the charming, small town of Boulder, Utah, the place where they fell more in love with each other and found the perfect spot for an elopement. On September 19th, Kayla and Dylan said, “I do,” in an intimate and earthy setting.

ADVICE FROM A WEDDING PROFESSIONAL Kayla, bride and founder of Kayla Bertagnolli Photography, says that just because you skip the big ceremony and reception, doesn’t mean you can’t include traditional wedding elements into your elopement. While not all elopements have aisles, there’s no reason you cannot walk down a designated aisle. Kayla explains how impactful it was to forgo a first look and stick with the tradition of not seeing each other until she entered the ceremony location. “The highlight of our ceremony was watching Dylan’s reaction as I walked down the cliff side, this is something we’ll remember forever.” Tucked away among scenic beauty and rocky formations, Kayla and Dylan exchanged personal vows to one another on a cliff overlooking their favorite place in front of immediate family, followed by an intimate dinner. “Dylan and I wanted two things on our wedding day: to exchange vows and have dinner at our favorite restaurant. After quietly planning for one year, let’s just say we were thrilled to see everything come together,” Kayla recalls. The couple prioritized using local vendors and vendors that were important to them. “Our photographer, Kali, is a good friend of mine, she has captured all of our special photo sessions leading up to the wedding. Ryan, a fellow photographer, has a unique aesthetic and documented moments in polaroid film, and the florist, Alexa, is so personable and someone who I recommend to my couple’s getting married.” Kayla says.

Jaylin and Parker met in the seventh grade, but it was their senior year of high school when a relationship flourished. Fast forward to four years later, the couple spent a summer day on the water, wakesurfing, one all-time favorite activity of theirs. Before Jaylin had her chance to surf the wave, they made their way back to the dock to pick up her sister. That’s when Jaylin saw a large gathering of people on the dock holding a sign that read, “Jay, will you marry me?” Parker got down on one knee aboard the rocking boat and proposed. Once back on land, the pair was greeted by friends and family. Jaylin and Parker planned an outdoor, boho wedding for September 19th.

Bella + Ryan ASPEN, COLORADO

Bella and Ryan met during their last semester of undergraduate studies at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. The two college students were both in a Soil Science class when they were paired as lab partners and the rest is history! When Ryan was ready to propose, he first asked Bella’s father for his blessing to marry his daughter. One evening, the couple returned home to their Dallas apartment, both having an especially terrible day, and proceeded to vent to one another resulting in a new positive perspective. Coincidentally, Ryan picked up the engagement ring from the jewelers hours earlier and proceeded to retrieve it from his backpack and present it to Bella. The newly engaged couple celebrated the happy occasion with a bottle of champagne and homemade pizzas, just the two of them. Bella and Ryan planned a modern, fall wedding for October 16th.

Tara + Ryan F O O T H I L L S , A L B E RTA

As many modern love stories go, Tara and Ryan met online. They decided to meet in person over coffee for the first time where the conversation was effortless and genuine. Tara and Ryan left the café agreeing to spend more time together and started seeing each other frequently. Tara remembers, “Whatever it was we were doing, we were learning, listening, loving and laughing. Life with Ryan was vivacious and wholesome.” Fast forward to May of 2019, Tara and Ryan traveled to Canmore, Alberta, on a dreary Spring weekend. The couple was eager to escape to the mountains and spend quality time together at some of their favorite breweries. Little did Tara know that Ryan had planned to propose on a bike ride the following day. When the rain wouldn’t let up and a bike ride seemed much too cold and somber, Ryan quickly adapted, suggesting a hike at Grassi Lakes. Given the weather, it was secluded and peaceful; a perfect time to trek the trailhead with your loved one. They made their way through the forest up to two sparkling turquoise lakes when Ryan got down on one knee and asked Tara to marry him. The next day, Ryan arranged for both sets of parents to meet the newly engaged couple for dinner in Bragg Creek, Alberta, to celebrate. Tara and Ryan planned an elegant, romantic and vintage wedding for October 16th.

Vienna + Austin I S L A N D PA R K , I D A H O

Shortly after having moved to Idaho, Vienna and Austin met through a mutual friend. A few days passed when Austin asked if the two of them could study together, and have been inseparable ever since. Vienna remembers, “We were both skeptical about quick engagements, until we weren’t. We were excited to start our life together as husband and wife and didn’t want to wait.” The couple talked extensively about marriage and what their future would look like, Vienna knew a proposal would happen and was anticipating the event. While planning a trip to Fall Creek Falls with her roommates, Austin included, Vienna began to wonder if this was the opportunity for a proposal. Sadly, the night before, Austin informed Vienna that he had to attend a Biology class lecture and wouldn’t be able to make the trip. Vienna tried to convince herself that Austin would be waiting for her at the waterfall, but finally accepted he was in fact, in the lecture. So, together with her roommates, the girls walked down to a cave behind the waterfall and there was Austin. He got down on one knee on a cute rug that he had bought at a country store along the way and asked her to marry him! Surrounded by evergreen trees dusted in Idaho’s first snowfall of the season, Vienna and Austin exchanged vows on November 13th.

something blue The blue and ivory color palette is carried throughout the tablescape, from the two-toned striped linens to the ginger jars, guests will notice that the theme seamlessly blends from beginning to end. Crisp white roses paired with cascading gorgeous greenery line the center of the table and sit at the base creating a stunning focal point. Stoneware dinner plates atop glass chargers with black accents and modern flatware bring a balanced approach to the His and Hers high tea brunch. A contemporary menu includes tartines; a fancy French openfaced sandwich topped with a poached egg and asparagus ribbons, homemade buttery biscuits, and petite personal yogurts to name a few.

handheld desserts

Remember scrumptious sweet treats cannot go overlooked during tea parties. Ditch the idea of cutting and plating slices of cake with individual dessert options. Custom handpainted cookies, bite-sized berry tarts and dainty macarons make pretty alternatives.

intimacy emphasized

Make the most of every minute and reconnect with your bridal party to recap on the unforgettable wedding weekend before they have to travel back home. Instead of a formal sit-down meal, consider a family-style dining experience over elevated brunch favorites. Passed plates such as waffles topped with stone fruit, candied pistachios and Chantilly cream as well as a smoked salmon and veggie breakfast quiche are all a crowd-pleaser. To ensure guests are hydrated from last night’s festivities, offer an interactive drink station with San Pellegrino. Boozy adult sips can follow like grapefruit seltzers adorned with fresh citrus wedges. Last, but certainly not least, your post-nuptial attire should leave an impression. The bride wears a relaxed midi dress with a fitted bodice, square neckline, and textured metallic floral brocade. Have your groom sport a light tan suit and ivory sweater to go with the white-washed natural color scheme.
