Did you know that the City of Rohnert Park conducts over 2,500 samples of our drinking water every year?
Once collected, the City’s water samples are tested by independent laboratories. These labs are certified by the State of California and comply with the Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP). We’re proud to say that the results from each of those samples show that the City's drinking water supply consistently meets or exceeds all Federal and State requirements.
You may have heard that there have been recent changes at the federal level in regard to water requirements. These changes set new standards for several of the most common “forever chemicals,” also known as PFAS. As of January 2024, the City of Rohnert Park, along with most other municipalities, is required to sample for these chemicals in our water system The results will be included in the annual consumer confidence report provided to all utility account holders every year in June. Current standards are based on extensive scientific evidence and are set with a margin of safety to protect public health. If you’re interested in learning more about the quality of our water, please click here.

Pouring a gallon of water into sinks, floor drains, or other drainage openings (especially those that are seldom used and whose traps may be empty of water) before we do our work should prevent any odor from entering your building or home.
If you do detect an odor, simply open your windows and/or turn on a fan to help ventilate the building. This level of concentration of airborne styrene does not pose a health risk.
Noise levels may be increased at times, and some inconvenience may be unavoidable. We are committed to do whatever we can to minimize impact from construction activities.

Mayor Susan Adams, on behalf of the City Council, proclaimed the week of May 5 - 11, 2024 as "Professional Municipal Clerks Week." This Proclamation extends appreciation to all Municipal Clerks for the services they provide their communities. Specifically, for acting as the cornerstone of the council and being a vital link between the citizens, the City Council, and the City of Rohnert Park at other levels
Although it is one of the oldest positions in local government, few people realize the vital services Municipal Clerks perform for their community.
The functions of the Clerk necessitate a thorough knowledge of law procedure, administration and interpersonal relations. Professor William Bennett Munro, author of one of the first textbooks written on the topic of municipal administration, wrote, "No other office in municipal service has so many contacts. It serves the Mayor, the City Council, the City Manager, and all administrative departments, without exception. All of them call upon it, almost daily, for some service or information.”
In the City of Rohnert Park, the City Clerk oversees democratic processes, city record access, and legislative actions, ensuring transparency. The City Clerk functions as a compliance officer for federal, state, and local statutes, including the Political Reform Act, the Brown Act, and the Public Records Act. In addition to being the City Clerk for the City Council, the City Clerk also serves as the Secretary of the Rohnert Park Financing Authority and the City of Rohnert Park Foundation. The City Clerk also serves as the Staff Liaison for all City Standing Committees and oversees the recruitment of all City Commission, Committee, and Board members.
The Proclamation was presented to Sylvia Lopez Cuevas, who has served as the City Clerk and Elections Official since 2020, and Elizabeth Machado, our Assistant City Clerk since 2021. The Proclamation was also presented to Karen Mack, Office Assistant in the Clerk’s Office, who provides unwavering support to our City Clerks, ensuring they stay on track and hit those goals!
Congratulations to Councilmember and Sonoma County native Samantha Rodriguez on her 2024 40 Under 40 award!
Councilmember Rodriguez was appointed vice mayor of Rohnert Park in May 2022 and won her campaign in November leading her to become mayor in 2023. She is the first Latina and the youngest person to hold a seat on the Rohnert Park City Council.
With a career spanning education, city, county, state and federal programming throughout the North Bay, she is able to provide unique perspectives at council meetings.
In June 2023, she became executive director of El Centro Laboral de Graton (the Graton Day Labor Center). CLG is a nonprofit helping day laborers, domestic workers and their families advance their rights and dignity as workers, immigrants and community members

This includes those who live and work in Rohnert Park. Members of the Round Table meet every other month to discuss a range of topics related to policing and community engagement. Members also take part in community outreach, police events, ride-alongs, tours, and more.
We are currently accepting applications for the 2024 Community Round Table.
