hen lawyers talk about “venue shopping” in the United States, one is talking about the strategic question of where one seeks to initiate a legal action -- which court - which state which country? Thus, we are looking at venue shopping as a lawyer for the claimant or the plaintiff. First Point: Major controversies – class actions for example – touch many jurisdictions and in some cases can be brought in almost any court in the United States. Very importantly, securities fraud actions, which can involve damage claims in the billions of dollars, are generally premised on management representations that are made publicly to all share-
