Growing financially as you build your family's legacy

Growing Financially As You Build Your Family's Legacy Ronnie D. Joyner, D.Min. For more than 16 years I have longed to be used of God to create a biblical stewardship ministry which allowed our families to meet two financial needs at the same time. One, create the financial income to meet your family needs and two, that this creation of financial income will come from the Faith and Word/Work ethic of each family member. I believe for too long we have relied on companies and corporations who are not native to our family giftings to provide their products, marketing plans and fundraising structures to raise funds for them with a portion to come back to you, such as candy and donut companies. They provide the products, we provide the labor, the time, and the gas to deliver these items or mail them with hopes of reaching a certain goal. Their products drive and motivate our efforts. I think it is time we change this practice. I Thessalonians 4:11,12 states, "And that ye

study to be quiet and to do your own business and to work with your own hands as we commanded you; that ye may walk honestly toward them that are without and that ye may have lack of nothing" KJV.

The Family Legacy Institute What is native to us should be researched among us, identifying the gifts and talents we possess then do a serious assessment of these gifts and talents for their ability to create the framework for an enhancing work which may be structured, marketed and promoted to create the income for our Churches and our Households. All of us are working for someone else, helping them reach their goals of income and continued viability as a business entity. The workforce sustains the life of that particular company. Where you work depends on you. If you were fired or laid off, they would either do without you or get someone else to replace you. In every business, you the worker become the producer and is rewarded for it weekly or monthly. But in the back of my mind, I keep hearing the command of God to Adam in Genesis 2:15 "and the Lord God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it".

1

Who did Adam work for? What was the original business Adam was placed into? Adam was more than an employee, the text says "God took the man and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it". The same God who headed creation's corporation had Adam in mind throughout the first 5 days of creation and put him in place on the Sixth Day, Genesis 1:26-31; 2:4-17. Adam was made God’s Steward over creation. As steward, God gave Adam the education to be successful in the dressing and keeping responsibility. As steward, God placed Adam in the leadership position in the Garden of Eden to carry out these two responsibilities, to dress it (organize) and to keep it (manage). Organizing and managing God’s affairs is the work of a steward, the stewardship includes the talent, time and resourcefulness applied to meet the requirements of the organizing and management task. After 400 years of bondage in Egypt, which mirrors our pre-deliverance days, when individuals and families we were in debt and without a personal liberation plan, God provided one. Our responsibility was to follow the commands given in Canaan. Deuteronomy 8:1,2 states “All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers. 2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.”

In the New Testament, when the disciples were selected, they were being appointed as the stewards of Jesus' earthly ministry. Each had specific tasks to perform as stewards of Jesus to help him build (organize and manage) the Kingdom of God in the earth. When Jesus was crucified, resurrected and went back to heaven to sit at the right hand of the father (Hebrews 12:2), these 12 Disciples (apprentices) became the Kingdom Leaders, Acts 2:41-47. Since I introduced The Bible Based Family: A Plan For Economic Empowerment in 1996, I have been counseling families to pass on the biblical ethic of legacy living. That ethic is described in II Timothy 1:6,7 "wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of a sound mind" KJV. A brief look at what God has given us. This Power doo’-nam-is enables us to live out God’s ability without having to solely depend on our own. Love ag-ah’pay is the benevolent discipline of God that does not change when we do, it was strong enough to save us and it maintains its strength to keep us. A Sound Mind so-fron-is-mos’ is the disciplined attitude of God which governs our mental attitude as we keep His focus our focus. Power, Love and Sound Mind are the gifts of God that just keep on giving.

As God did with Adam, I believe we must function within Eden's original purpose for our families. We must become instructors of His organizing and management intelligence for the stability of our families. This Kingdom Ethic is the only intelligence which will correct inequality and cure despair. Additionally, David serves as a steward of this Kingdom Instruction. I Samuel 22:1,2 provides an excellent example. Here is what the text says, “David therefore departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. So when his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him. 2 And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him”. David’s cave became a classroom. The instruction carried a

military type discipline as the text says he became a captain over them. This disciplined instruction addressed three conditions that needed to be turned around so that his father’s household could properly function. This household was comprised of about 400 persons who were in distress, debt and discontented. I guess we could call them the 3 D Army! Too many of our families have been drafted into this 3DArmy. Turn-a-Round came to David’s family in a cave through a military type teaching which turned distress, debt and discontentment into DELIVERANCE! Today, the Captain of our salvation, Heb. 2:10 is leading the Calvary of Believers into this Next Day reality. Where families are not fully engaged in this Kingdom Ethic, it is through The Family Legacy Institute that we can achieve these organizing and management principles. The Family Legacy Institute merges Christian Education, a fresh and contemporary 21st Century Evangelistic Expression in winning others to Christ and Spirit-led Economic Empowerment from His Heart and Mind. I believe it is our task to build the Kingdom of God on earth with it, Acts 2:41-47 and call it The Year of Jubilee Family Legacy Ministry. The Year of Jubilee Family Legacy Ministry Curriculum is a 12 Month Educational, Evangelistic and Economic Empowering Family Builder. It will be administered through The Family Legacy Institute with competent, consecrated and capable leadership and instruction. Its sole purpose is to fulfill the Great Commission, (Matthew 28:18-20). It is comprised of a Continuing Education Unit Structure through the Samuel Dewitt Procter School of Theology of Virginia Union University, Richmond, VA. One long held Continuing Education Unit definition at the School of Theology is: “ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction”. This CEU Structure defines the Educational offering which undergirds our Evangelistic Thrust, (Acts 2:47) as well as our Economic Empowerment, (Leviticus 25:1-55; Deuteronomy 15:1-18; Isaiah 61:1,2; Luke 4:16- 21) as we operate within the John 1:29-51 Paradigm).

Introduction, Invitational, Impartation and Inspirational Family Training The Final Question: How can Jubilee Rewards be generated in this Year of Jubilee Family Legacy Ministry? The Answer: From key biblical elements found in the ’Two’ divisions of The Bible, the Old and New Testament. First, Fulfillment of The Genesis Imperative with the feature of ‘Two’. God gave Adam a strong imperative when He placed him in the Garden of Eden, He told him to “dress it and keep it”, Genesis 2:15. Secondly, in John 1:35-39 Jesus is announced to the ‘two’ disciples Andrew and Philip by John the Baptist: 36 As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!” John’s two disciples heard this, they followed Jesus. New Living

When

Thirdly, it is here that John the Baptist establishes our Next Day Principle. This Principle of Two becomes the exponent of economic empowerment in our Family Legacy Ministry which infers a place, impartation and period of dialogue and teaching. Translation

With retrenchments in church attendance, ‘new’ families are immorally adopting our sons and daughters, namely gangs. With guns and drugs creating new partnerships to acquire money and at the same

time creating new pipelines to jail rather than college, We offer The Year of Jubilee Family Legacy Ministry. The Philadelphia Fellowship (Baptist) and Ronnie D. Joyner Ministries, Inc. is offering Values producing Christian Education, the Invitation to ‘an answer producer’ for the questions which plague our times and Economic Empowerment which is tied to Him. What has God given to you about Jesus that can help open a door to communicate Jesus with others? (Reflect on pages 28,29 and 34 in our Family Legacy Handbook)

According to Andrew in John 1:41 and Philip v. 45 we receive Old Testament prophetic documentation of this Jesus being referred to as ‘Messiah’ and also mentioned by Moses and also in prophetic writings. Such documentation was used to quell erroneous untruths about this earthy person being “the Son of God”, Matthew 8:29. While many knew his mother and earthly father, Mark 6:3. Prophetic as well as personal testimonies are still the heart believing, truth bearers of our day. Suffice it to say, family life was precious for Jesus while the messianic mystery presented a problem for many, but His interactions were productive. The first four male disciples of Jesus came from one neighborhood, Bethsaida. Supported by such prophetic impartation in the then, I believe for today, menacing neighborhoods can be turned around. When Philip told Nathaniel that this Jesus was from Nazareth he was not very receptive, but when Philip responded, he used the Invitational language Jesus used with he and Andrew, Come and See, v. 39. Such an occurrence produced the fourth disciple, v. 50,51. This ministry proffers that ‘learners and followers of Jesus’ can help decriminalize our times and release new godly definitions into our neighbor‘Hoods’. Its Teaching Time! Let’s believe the truth, not the innuendos. I believe Him when He said in John 8:31-32, 31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” NLT

While Andrew and Philip followed Jesus, v. 38 has ‘Jesus turning’ and asking Andrew and Philip the pivotal Next Day question What do you seek? It is here that you and your first Two Enrollees enter into your initial teaching for assuming your Next Day Stewardship Status. This initial teaching is ‘Analysis of Your Present Stewardship'. This Stewardship Analysis is found on page 11 to the top of page 23 in the Year of Jubilee Family Legacy Ministry Handbook.. Verse. 39 provides Your Invitation to where this teaching will be

taking place locally, the Philadelphia Fellowship’s Family Legacy Center Site, (TBA) and online at http://www.FamilyLegacyMinistry.org This initial teaching is biblical undergirding for you and subsequently each enrollee. Most of us have had some Stewardship Challenges, but this Next Day Stewardship teaching ministry is pointing us to our Next Day in Christ. Redemption is the Next Day Word for yesterday’s challenges. When you view the Generational Growth Chart above, These enrollees will demonstrate exponential growth shaped by following The John the Baptist Principle, John 1:35-39. I suggest that the first time John used this designation, v.29 “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world”, he referenced what Jesus came to take away. In the 2nd reference, v.35, “Behold the Lamb of God!”, John affirms what Jesus came to restore, I suggest, the five-fold Blessing of God, Genesis 1:28. In our Economic Empowerment Generational Growth You Chart, each Generation is covered with Follow The this five-fold Blessing of God. John the Baptist Principle Additionally, we’ve employed an algebraic/mathematical designation to John 1:35-39 provide a practical view of The Power of 2. Biblical Algebra has Andrew1 saying Andrew Phillip Andrew is Empowered to Demonstrate Next Day Increase to the First Power and this Economic Empowerment flows Nathaniel John James down to the 12th Power in life of the 12 Simon Peter Disciples, Luke 22:48; Acts 1:16-26. Biblically, this Exponential Empowerment is a byproduct of following the prophetic John the Baptist Kingdom Building Principle by each enrollee into this ministry. When the principle is engaged, as the Generational Chart outlines, it details the number of disciples which are empowered by the 12 Months of Teachings as well as the Generated Jubilee Rewards Harvested from Sowing the Monthly $50 Jubilee Tuition Seeds. In that our revolving 12 Month Year of Jubilee Family Legacy Institute’s Curriculum covers Four 13 Week Periods including Evaluations, we’ve categorized each of these 13 Weeks with ‘Next Day’ Economic Empowerment Initiatives: I. The Introduction of The Family Legacy Problem Enrollees 21-3 ~ Receiving Good Measure Education (Andrew – Peter) II. The Invitation into The Family Legacy Promise Dressers 24-6 ~ Reaching Pressed Down Families (Nathaniel-John)

III. The Impartation of The Family Legacy Principle Organizers 27-9 ~ Realizing Shaken Together Opportunities (Matthew – James) IV. The Inspiration of The Family Legacy Plan Legacy-Preneur 2 10-12~ Ruling Running Over Resources (Simon-Matthias) Teaching Produce Teachers in this Ministry. 2 Timothy 2:2 is a prevailing textual directive ~ 2 You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others ~ NLT. Teaching is etched in the ‘b’ portion of John 1:38, 39 ‘38 Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?” 39 “Come and see,” he said. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day’ NLT. Teaching is the foundation of this ministry.

For Family Legacy purposes I want to suggest that Andrew and Philip were interested in getting to know Jesus for themselves. They had heard from John the Baptist, also heard He was Messiah and heard what Moses and other prophetic voices had placed in the historic biblical record about Him. But, Andrew and Philip take the steps we seek to reinforce in our ministry, Get to know Him for yourself to empower your family. To that degree, this overview is a teaching to interest you in this ministry. This overview point you to our Family Legacy Handbook which contain our 12 Month Curriculum and detail the daily, weekly and monthly ministry content. Those Enrollees will receive teaching from those who have become the Dressers. The Dressers will provide teaching to those who will become the Organizers and the Organizers will provide teaching to those who will become The Legacy Preneurs. The Legacy Preneurs are the mature consulting leaders, the Elders if you will, who help our Families live out this cycle of instruction whose influence originates out of the all encompassing nature of teaching, Colossians 4:1-6. Again, in Luke 10 Jesus employed the use of the Power of 2 when He sent His ‘other’ 70 disciples out 2 by 2. Note in verse 19 what had been given to these disciples by Jesus, it was “the authority” in the NIV and power in KJV. But when we review the passage in The Message we receive a true Next Day understanding, 18-20 Jesus said, “I know. I saw Satan fall, a bolt of lightning out of the sky. See what I’ve given you? Safe passage as you walk on snakes and scorpions, and protection from every assault of the Enemy. No one can put a hand on you. All the same, the great triumph is not in your authority over evil, but in God’s authority over you and presence with you. Not what you do for God but what God does for you—that’s the agenda for rejoicing.” This authority is an endowment of Next Day rejoicing. This rejoicing is connected to John 1:33 and reaffirmed by Jesus in Luke 4: 18 as well as

11

magnified in Mark 4:8 when a Seed falls on ‘good ground’ and yield fruit with increase of 30, 60 and 100 fold. The question raised by Jesus to the first two exponents, Andrew and Philip, v.38 charged each Disciple Generation through His Teaching in what we call The Great Commission, 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Such is the charge this

ministry stands on. We believe we shall be endowed with our Lord’s Holy Power and Holy Authority as His character carries increase and Next Day rejoicing into our homes and neighborhoods for Dads, Moms, Sons and Daughters.

In closing, when God placed Adam and Eve in their home, the Garden of Eden, he gave them two commands. These commandments are found in Genesis 2:15, the KJV says: 15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. Dressing and Keeping that home are the next two focus areas after enrolling in this ministry. Dressing and Keeping your family and home are Jubilee Endowments we are commissioned to advise you of. From Genesis to Leviticus, into Deuteronomy and with John and Jesus, let’s affirms the Next Day for our family futures. This Legacy Quest Set forth the following 7 Legacy Goals: I. Commit to 2 Timothy 2:15 and Strive for Legacy Excellence as a Student of Christ II. Be "A John 1Voice" as John The Baptist extolling the virtues of The Family Legacy Ministry III. That you will follow Luke 10:2 and Luke 6:12-16 and consult God about Your Disciples IV. Your 12 Member Discipleship Teams will follow the effectiveness of Jesus' 12 Disciples V. Commit to the Daily, Weekly and Monthly Six Points of L.E.G.A.C.Y. VI. Strive, with covenant ethics to create at least a $5,000 per month stream of income VII. With Acts 2:45 and Acts 4:31-35, Help each of your 12 Disciples to achieve Goal 6
